Nacre and Hy discuss Nacre's dyad partner, who was reduced to a bone when Nacre was made so they wouldn't have to deal with an "undesirable extra."

The fact that this means Nacre is alone and has to be responsible for her own survival eternally (she has to protect both herself and the bone instead of having a partner who, you know, helps protect her back) doesn't seem to have been important to anybody. :)

Keep Nacre & her bone in mind going forward because it's important! We're learning about the problems caused by dyad partners, which, amazingly, wasn't ALL that bad on Faidia because, well, they weren't chundering everyone there...
