“Hello my lovely laces, it’s Lacey here! So I am officially in the house, and it seems pretty nice as far as first impressions go. Now I just have to meet my new roommates.” Lacey began her vlog, her camera held out in front of her as she walked around. She turned to the person nearest her. “Hey do you want to introduce yourself to my viewers?”

Grayson jumped when the camera was pointed at him, completely taken off guard. But the fear quickly disappeared and was replaced by the familiar comfort of the lens. “Hi! I’m Grayskiez and you are so smart and cute for following someone as smart and cute as Lacey. Go you!”

natalie grinned. “ oh, my god, i thought you meant your actual kids for a minute and i was about to say something really gross like ‘ you’re so young ! ‘ so thanks for stopping that. you’re a teacher ? that’s actually pretty cool. what grade do you teach ? “ nat only had a job to occupy her time, which gave her a case of misdirected guilt. and she hadn’t even gotten that job until she moved out of her parents house, which was kind of worse.

“Listen, most of the people I graduated with already have 5 year olds. I’m literally teaching their children. It almost makes me feel left out.” He paused to laugh. Half of him was lying, but half was being uncomfortably honest. Being around kids all the time made him feel like he didn’t need kids of his own, but whenever his class graduated up to first grade, there was something that broke inside of him. “I’m a kindergarten teacher, if you hadn’t caught on yet. That’s actually what my videos are about like 98.99% of the time. What do you do?”

Ezra grunts as he shifts his weight from one foot to the other, the movement a largely unsuccessful attempt to make the boxes balanced in his hands somehow feel lighter. He has his tongue pinched between his teeth as he shifts the boxes again, tries to uncurl his fingers from around cardboard to press the doorbell one more time. However he’s startling at the door suddenly swinging open before he can complete the action, his hands fumbling with the boxes in his hands in his surprise.

He can’t actually see above all the stuff piled in his arms, can barely even spot the top of the person’s head even as he cranes his own, so really, Ezra is greeting the other person blindly as he says, “Uh, hey. I’m Ezra, I’m gonna just cut to the chase here, exactly what am I going to have to promise you to get you to help me move this shit inside?”

Grayson took a second, staring at the door, unsure of whether someone was there or his mind was playing tricks on him. “Is anyone gonna get that?” someone yelled from another room, settling his mental debate for him. Gray jumped to his feet, trying to get to the door as quick as possible. “Oh, hi,” he mumbled, taking the top box off of the stack. “Uh, wow, that’s a tough one,” he said, shifting the box under one arm, stroking his scruff with his free hand. “Hawaiian pizza, large. With sweet tea.”
