     “Nothing interesting.” Maya said, which wasn’t even far from the truth. Even if it was exciting to get to work with professional equipment, her actual research was boring, surrounding around a disease that had long been cured. “Are you kidding me? You’re in the hospital. Of course I’ll worry.”

“Ah, that’s not that much fun the,” he chuckled. “Do you have time to sit and talk for a bit?” he asked her. It was nice to have the company and not be focused on his thoughts. “I’ll be okay, so don’t worry too much, alright?” he spoke. He smiled over at her. “So anything new with you?”

“Because I’m annoyed,” Valerie supplied simplistically as he asked why she was grumpy. She knew that wasn’t her, but, at the same time, it was something so hard to just… Shake off, so, at some point, she just stopped trying and allowed her sour mood to take her wherever it pleased. “I went on this camping trip there was around here and… There was this idiotic kind of accident, I fell wrong on my arm and, ta-dah, broken bone,” she complained, taking his hand in hers and giving it a little squeeze. “But, how are you…?!”

“Yikes, I’m sorry about your arm,” he spoke. “Are you doing okay otherwise?” he asked her as he arched an eyebrow. He was sure that she would be happy to get that cast taken off. “I would sign it for you, but I’m not really capable of doing that right now,” he chuckled. “Oh I’m doing just peachy, you know always getting myself into something.” He was trying to make the situation lighter than it was. He didn’t want to weigh things down even more.

Ally felt tears stream down her face as she hugged one of her dearest friends, a brother to her. “No, I’m not. I just…I was so worried about you, Gray. Are you sure? Want me to get you anything, anything at all? Rosa, Rosa! Can you go tell one of the nurses to get Grayson a fresh pair of pillows? Make it four pillows!” She commanded of one of her maids who went off, scurrying.

“Ally it’s okay, you don’t need to do that,” he said but Rosa was already running off. “How are you doing?” he asked gesturing to her stomach. He hadn’t seen her in a while and he wanted to know how the baby was doing. “You don’t need to worry about me.”

Having a chance to score some time away from work had been a luxury given the past couple of days. With half the staff away, he and Maya had to hold things up. And, Killian had put the responsibility over his shoulders to make sure that the place was still standing upon their return. “I wouldn’t just let you be here all by yourself for all that long,” the blonde said with a shake of his head, sitting on a nearby chair and making himself comfortable. “I wish I could have come sooner, though… You know my life, it’s a series of moments in which I’m either doing nothing or I can’t breathe. Lately it’s been the latter,” the man admitted with a couple of nods. The look upon his face grew more serious as his cousin elaborated on the things that were in his head. Supporting his chin in a hand he allowed the other one to let everything he might have wanted out. “Gray, if you keep thinking like that it’ll eat you alive. You survived because like the rest of us, you’re a fighter. There are things for you to do out there still, so, don’t beat yourself up over things you can’t possibly have any control over,” Cameron tried reasoning.

He felt bad for kind of breaking down, but he had to let some of this out. At least Cameron knew of his mother and so talking about her didn’t seel as weird. All he wanted to do right now was crumble. He felt guilty for what happened to Holly, like he could have done something help her get well. Of course, it didn’t justify all she had put him through, but she didn’t deserve this. She had an illnes and he just wish he had done more for her. Maybe this wouldn’t be happening right now if he had done that instead of running away. “Sorry that work has been so rough. Anything I can do to help out?” he asked.  He wished that he could agree, but he was already being eaten up inside. “I’m trying,” he said as he looked down at his hands. “But none of it seems fair or real. I keep waiting to wake up. She’s dead, man,” he said softly. “I know she was my ex fiancee, but she’s dead.” His stomach churned at the thought and as he closed his eyes he saw flashes of the wreck and quickly opened them. “And the worst part of it? It wasn’t an accident,” he finally confessed as he looked away from Cam. “I keep telling everyone it’s fuzzy and I don’t remember, but I remember everything.”

Druella offered Grayson a soft smile when he had opened his eyes. She hadn’t really known what to expect when she’d heard he was in the hospital. It wasn’t as bad as she had thought but that didn’t make her any less scared for him. The gentle squeeze he gave her hand made her heart ache. “You’re not funny,” she teased in response, inching her way to sit at the edge of the bed and moving so that she wasn’t close enough to hurt him. “This is going to sound stupid, but how are you doing? Do you need anything?”

It was really nice to see her and be around her again. He had missed getting to spend time with her. He laced their fingers together, he wasn’t really sure why, but he just felt comforted having her there with him. “I know, I’m hilarious,” he mused as he looked up at her. Grayson sighed at the question, not because he was annoyed or anything that she asked, but just because he didn’t know what to say. He did need something, he needed to finally be honest with someone about everything, but he also felt guilty dumping that on everyone.  “Not stupid, a concerned friend,” he smiled at her. “I don’t know,” he shrugged. “I really don’t know what I need.”

Wyatt offered Grayson a weak smile, not completely sure what to do or say. Things had been distant between the two, but they both had their respective careers to think about and Wyatt completely understood how Grayson’s movie had kept him busy. The fact of that matter was after heaving about what happened, he was fearful to upset Grayson. He didn’t know what would happen if he had done something to said something to upset him. “I’ve been doing good, man. I’ve got a kid not. Well, I’ve had her for a while but I didn’t really know about her until recently.” He felt weird, talking about himself when it was Grayson that he was more interested in.

He was glad that Wyatt didn’t seem upset with him. It was nice to catch up even if it was in not ideal circumstances. Though he was sure that he wouldn’t have a lot of time off now that he needed to recover. “Really?” he asked raising an eyebrow. “I didn’t know they could be made that fast,” he joked. “Tell me about her,” he said gesturing for Wyatt to sit down. He enjoyed not talking about himself and not having to explain what happened.

“I won’t lie, no. They are not.” It was obvious and honestly, Orson wasn’t sure why he’d even responded to the question. Perhaps it was because he was still disillusioned from being in the hospital to begin with. “No, that is not necessary. I’ll find the right room eventually.” Ever since his father had died, hospitals had become a place he had dreaded. “Orson. If you don’t mind, Grayson..what exactly happened to you? If you don’t mind my asking, of course.”

“Alright, if you’re sure,” he said with a warm smile. “Nice to meet you Orson. That’s a unique name.” At the question he looked around and bit his lip. He didn’t mind, really it was only natural for someone to be curious. He just hated thinking about it. “I don’t mind,” he said as he looked at the other man. “Long story short is that I’m an actor and we had a terrible accident on set,” he shrugged. Of course it wasn’t the full story, but he couldn’t bring himself to talk about that. He doubt Orson really wanted ot hear about his life drama anyway.

“Grayson, I’m Francesca,” she introduced, as she stepped into his room, albeit hesitantly. “No, no. I don’t wanna be a bother. I think I just got the numbers mixed up. I’ve already been to the nurses station to ask. I can always go again. How’re you feeling, by the way?”

“Nice to meet you,” he smiled. “Are you sure? it really isn’t any trouble,” he offered again. “I’m feeling okay,” he shrugged. “Kind of just woke up and all, so we’ll see how it goes from here.”

A worried frown appeared on Maya’s forehead as she carefully took a step closer. “I’m doing some research in the lab here.” She said slowly, uncomfortably wrapping her arms around her waist. “But what are you doing here? What happened?”

“What are you researching?” he asked her. It was easier if the attention was turned on her. Thinking about what happened made his stomach turn and he really just didn’t want to think about it. “A situation happened on set,” he said quietly. “I’m fine, though. Nothing you need to worry about.”

Upon coming back from what was supposed to be a fun weekend getaway, Val was just stuck with having to run more tests. It didn’t help that she hated hospitals, so, the idea of having to have a new x-ray to check whether the position her arm had been put in the cast was the best to heal the kind of injury she’d suffered was something capable of making the often cheerful woman wallow. She had been following someone around to get to the room where her scans would be taken when she thought she’d seen someone familiar and vouched to go back there later to investigate. On her way out she stopped by the same door, checking the name on the chart before making her way inside. “Long time, no see,” Val spoke with a sigh.

He was lost in thought when he heard that familiar voice and came out of it. He hadn’t seen Val in a long while because of his crazy schedule and now because of this. He saw her arm was in a cast and that made him frown. He hoped that she was doing okay. “Yeah, no kidding,” he chuckled.  “Why the grumpy face?” he asked her.  “What happened to your arm?” he asked her raising an eyebrow. “We’re a couple of messes huh?”

Cameron had heard about the accident involving his cousin and heard the name of the hospital he’d been taken to. He knew that things were a little bit hectic at the moment, though he would visit Grayson whenever he managed to score some time off. Keeping his promise, he bought a box of assorted chocolate and headed over there. He wasn’t sure whether Grayson was awake when he first came in, so, he tried to be as quiet as possible as he approached the bed. He had questions about what had happened, and he had the feeling now wouldn’t be the time to voice them. Leaving the box on the nightstand he looked down at the bed. “Oh, hey,” he greeted. “I thought you were still out…”

Grayson hadn’t seen Cam for a few weeks. They tried to grab lunch or hang out whenever either of them had time off from things. Their schedules didn’ always mesh well together, but he was glad to see his cousin now. As he saw the box of chocolates he looked up to meet him. “Hey,” he said with a small smile. “I was wondering if you were going to drop by. Nope, I’m awake now, just woke up a bit ago actually,” he shrugged. He swallowed hard as he tried not to think about things. “Cam,” he felt this emotion welling up in his chest and Cam was the only one he could maybe talk to about it. “How is this fair?” he asked him. “I know something is really wrong, they won’t tell me anything,” he whispered. “How is it possible that I’ve survived two accidents like this?” Being here brought back memories of when he woke up as an orphan. He escaped the first accident barely scathed and while he wasn’t as lucky this time he was still here. His mother and everyone else involved in that accident and now Holly. None of this seemed to make any sense. Why him? Why was he spared?

As a Nurse, Druella wanted to believe she’d seen and heard it all. She’d had patients that were friends of a friend or that she’d gone to school with, but she’d never had to deal with anything major. She worked in the clinic area of the hospital, dealing with people, mostly the elderly, where they made general appointments. Things were different for ER and Trauma nurses. They saw things Druella couldn’t fathom and the moment she’d heard about Grayson and the accident, her heart immediately sunk into her stomach. The moment it was time for her lunch break, Druella had completely forgotten about eating and made her way up to the room he was in, afraid of what might go down, mostly because she cared so deeply for Grayson. Stepping inside, she gently closed the door behind her and made her way over to the bed in which Grayson lie. Hesitating, she reached down to place her hand over his.

Grayson has kind of drifted in and out of being conscious for the past few weeks. Today was the first day that he was actually awake if you could call it that. It really felt like a daze if he was being honest. He just wanted to wake up from this nightmare, but it wasn’t one. It was his reality and he had to live with that. He couldn’t just pretend that this wasn’t real or sweep it under the rug like he did his other problem. He closed his eyes and hoped that maybe he could escape things this way, but his dreams weren’t any better. The moment he felt a hand gently rest over his he opened his eyes. His golden irises met with hers a small smile came over his features. “Dru,” he breathed gently as he gave her hand a small squeeze. Dru was someone that Grayson really cared about and he was glad that she was here. He had missed their late night dinners they would have after his late nights on set and her late shifts. “Fancy seeing you here,” he teased lightly gesturing to her scrubs.

Wyatt would never be able to understand what Grayson had gone through. It was so strange and yet, more people experienced things like that than he could ever fathom. When he had heard what had happened, he spent the majority of his time afterward trying to figure out what to say when he would visit. He’d brought a card and some chocolate, not really sure what to get for him. It wasn’t like Grayson had just gone through a routine surgery or check up. Something truly horrible had happened and Wyatt didn’t want to set him back by saying or doing anything wrong. He’d stepped into the room slowly, shutting the door quietly behind him. The sight before him was overwhelming and it had taken a few moments before he had enough courage to speak. “Hey…,” he muttered, stopping at the edge of the bed.

Grayson hadn’t seen Wyatt in so long, but it was a good surprise. Wyatt was a good friend of his and right now he really needed those. He wondered how he had been and he felt bad that his movie had kept him so busy. “Hey,” Grayson replied with as big of a smile as he could muster.  “How are you? How have things been going?” he asked him. It was almost a nervous chatter, not because Wyatt made him nervous, but just because he felt awkward. Grayson didn’t like being in this situation. Being vulnerable was never a strong suit of his, but maybe he needed to be. Maybe he needed to show his friends his vulnerable side. It was just hard when his whole life he had kept everything to himself.

This was Gabriel’s weekly visit to the hospital. The volunteer did his usual rounds to the beds, making the kids laugh and playing little games with them. His head went up whenever a nurse came to tell him that it was time for him to finish up, Gabriel got ready to go. He was simply passing by the bed whenever he looked over and recognized the other. “Grayson?” Gabriel asked as he approached the bed. “Hey… man.” He said slowly.

“Gabe?” he questioned as he recognized the man that stood before him. It was weird to run into someone he knew that clearly wasn’t here for him. He wondered why, but he wouldn’t ask. “Hey,” he gave a small smile as he adjusted himself to be sitting up a little more. He winced slightly, but it was bearable. “How are you?” he asked him. It seemed like a weird question considering the fact that Grayson was the one in a hospital bed. He just wasn’t really sure how to handle this situation and normal conversation formalities seemed appropriate.

Ally was horrified when she had heard what happened to Grayson. He was like family to her and she came to the hospital right away. Hugging him as soon as he made eye contact, she did so gently, but lovingly. “Gray! You’re okay! You’re okay, right? It’s all going to be okay.”

“Hey there slugger, are you trying to kill me?” He teased as he wrapped his arms around her in a tight hug. It hurt, but it was worth it. Ally was an important person in his life and he didn’t like that she had been worried about him. “Yeah, I’m going to be okay. I’m not going anywhere,” he assured her as her gently rubbed her back.

So many things were happening around Phoebe and it was destroying her mentally. First the accident with Alex, then the mishaps on her birthday, the cancer snip bit and now this. It was like the world wanted to drop everything on top of the girl all at once and she didn’t know how to cope with it, honestly. But here she was, trying her best to stay strong for those she cared about. Her relationship with Grayson was complicated though. She’d be lying if she said she didn’t feel something for him, but now that she was pretty much left on one leg, it wasn’t going to be easy for her to move forward with someone. If that was even what he wanted — which she really had no idea at this point. They were having fun, but she was nervous it could turn into something more than just a good time, honestly. Either way, she wasn’t going to let that fear push her away. — Stepping into the hospital room, Phoebe timidly moved closer to the male. She let a smile cross her features, hoping she could come across as a positive and familiar face that he may have needed. “Hey you,” she began before taking the seat beside the bed. “We stay apart for what? A few weeks and you go and get yourself hurt? You know, I knew you couldn’t bare being apart from me, but damn.” Of course, she was just joking. “How are you feeling?”

Phoebe being here already made him feel better. They had become good friends and of course, he cared quite a lot about her. Nothing had ever really happened between them and he wasn’t sure if it would, Not because he didn’t want it to, but because it all seemed kind of confusing for both of them right now. He was game for whatever came, though. He would love to explore things, but if she didn’t want that then he would be happy being a good friend. She had become a very important person in his life and he was glad to see she cared enough to be here. Though he would expect nothing else because of who she was as a person. “Hey beautiful,” he replied. He couldn’t help but chuckle at her words even if it hurt a little bit to laugh. “I had to make sure you didn’t forget about me,” he teased. “Maybe it means we shouldn’t be apart, you know so you can keep an eye on me and stuff.” He shrugged at her question, “Confused mostly. No one will really tell me anything, but I kind of figured it’s not looking good.”
