So... my very talented and hardworking acquaintance, @lavenfurs ,has launched her own tag β #simsfoliotag. The tag is meant to (make me feel nostalgic and die) share works that the author is genuinely proud of. (with my level of self-criticism, this was one of the toughest tags, ngl ;D) So it ends up being a personal portfolio of pieces that, if you look closely, might help you understand the author a little better!
Let me start with a heads-up. There's no actual editing in my works. I'm lazy β I don't use things like Photoshop or anything like that... sorry, but that's just the truth. My thing is pure photoshoots and magazine covers β but honestly? The portfolio concept is probably the perfect theme for me, because it fits what I do really well.
The first cover and work that I truly liked. I was proud of myself back then, and I still think it's one of the simplest and most brilliant ideas I've had for this design β I'm still really happy with it to this day.
A work I'm really happy with in terms of composition, color, and lore. I find it very atmospheric β I still enjoy looking at the model to this day. I saved her separately, just like my OCs, because the design of the demoness Aska turned out really impressive and beautiful. Even though she's wearing a lot of Mortal Kombat stuff, to me Aska feels like her own character, completely separate from that universe. She's just a Japanese demoness with very mixed roots. :)
This work was my first departure from regular magazine covers. Here, I experimented with new designs and layouts. I really enjoyed creating full banners and posters rather than just covers β and this one turned out pretty good, in my amateur opinion, even though it was my first time working on something like this.
This work means a lot to me, because not only do I consider it successful, it's also full of contradictions. Out of all my works, this one probably carries the most symbolism. Back then, I started accepting my more risquΓ© nature and realized that I want to create more explicit content. And on top of that β despite the design turning out well β I came to understand just how important presentation is, both for the content and for myself. Because, fun fact: I actually think this Sim's appearance is pretty awful. And yet, on the cover, they look genuinely nice. (not to me, though.)
Next up are relatively newer works β after I finished my army service and came back to Sims. Everything else? SKIP! :D
So... here we have... um... sorry, just a sexy guy with a sexy body and a great angle β moving on...
You know, this is the only work that turned out exactly the way I envisioned it. Like, you have no idea how many times I pictured a photoshoot like this β with the wet body, wet clothes, wet hair effect. And when I actually made it, it unexpectedly came out exactly as I imagined, completely and fully. But unfortunately, it didn't really gain any traction on my blog or Twitter.
DIDN'T EXPECT TO SEE A GIRL HERE, DID YOU?! Ahahahaha, you see, I'm still proud of how much this work looks like a RENDER in my eyes β like an actual Blender render, but it's just a regular in-game screenshot, which I'm endlessly happy about. I probably won't be able to pull it off again, but it is what it is.
I'm absolutely obsessed with this work. I love everything about it β from the gorgeous man in it, to the story and the humor. The details, all of it... Honestly, it's one of the few works that I can actually look at without feeling embarrassed or having any mixed feelings about it at all.
This is the only work that turned out accidentally masterpiece-level for me. I wasn't expecting anything from this photoshoot, but then I picked one screenshot, edited it a bit, and was blown away by how it turned out. And yeah... that was the first time I learned you could use relight to create pretty, natural-looking gradients on the backdrop.
And last, but not least β my pride. Right now, I consider this my Roman Empire, because itβs the first time I made a full magazine from the inside, not just a cover. I thought through every single detail of it. The result genuinely inspired and delighted me. It was a 10βpage magazine (these 4 pages are my favorites). Itβs fully written in Simlish, but itβs just a font β behind it, thereβs REAL text. Iβm also incredibly happy that, for a first try at a whole magazine, it turned out absolutely flawless. All thanks to someone letting me test their male collection.
Ahh... I love anything related to men... That's how much it inspires me.
