This is my illustration for the essay I also completed for "A Nice and Interpretive Fanzine!"
The essay is called "My Place, Our Side, and the Creation of Meaning Through Love" and you can read it here on AO3!
today's funky frog of the day: the san jose cochran frog (Cochranella euknemos)!!!! these frogs are found in costa rica, colombia, and panama. they usually live in lowlands and forests! unfortunately, they are threatened by habitat loss, specifically from deforestation.

I love Good Omens, the creative team behind it, and this fandom.
[Image description: The phrase “Wait and see” written in blocky black letters, outlined in white, against a starry background. A white wing sprouts off the W, and a black wing sprouts off of the last “e.” There is a clock with both hands pointing to 12 standing in for the dot of the “i” in “wait.” The last “e” has an iris drawn in the middle so it looks like Crowley’s eye. There’s a halo of dots and lines radiating from the clock over “wait,” and a halo with more concentrated lines of variable lengths radiating from the e with the eye. End image description.]
this image of Mongolia's best known paleontologist, Altangerel Perle, standing in between the fossilized arms of Deinocherius is undeniably the most powerful image in paleontological history
The thing with Deinocherius was for the longest time, paleontologists only knew it from the arms. We had no clue what it might've been like, what it ate, what it did, nothing.
That was until a few years ago when we got a better idea of what it looked like
It's a duck. A big, giant duck.
So there is Altangerel Perle, renowned paleontologist with numerous species under his belt, wrapped in the embrace of a giant 13+ foot tall duck and he still somehow manages to make himself look like the coolest motherfucker this side of the Holocene

He wants some bread… 🥖🥐 Twitter I Instagram
[ID: A digital drawing of the front of a bakery, a small dragon sits outside on the front steps staring up into the window. Outside it’s dark and raining, the light from the bakery is warm orange, the window full of shelves of bread. The bakery is called “Indigo’s”, and on the window reads “bakery cafe”. /End ID]
[Image description: The same dragon now lays on a pile of bread with some chunks torn out of them, fast asleep in the backroom of the bakery, near some sort of fire with the racks of different kinds of bread all around the storage area. They are safe and full. Description on post reads, “He got his bread.” End ID]
Oh thank god
Ranitomeya imitator, or the mimic poison frog, is a species with a number of unique behaviors. These frogs deliberately feed on toxic invertebrates in order to produce their own poison, which they secrete directly from their skin. They’re also devoted parents and one of the few species of frogs shown to be monogamous. In the images above we see a male transporting a tadpole on his back, carrying them to a safe water source where they will continue to grow. Meanwhile the female of the pair will provide their offspring with infertile eggs as a food source. The frog shown here was captive bred in Ohio. Images by John Clare.
