Angels and demons affect reality whether they're trying to do so or not. That's why the Bentley was sentient and had the perfect Queen hit for every moment. It's why Whickber Street fell apart after Aziraphale left.
In those last few seconds, Aziraphale and Crowley were saying fond goodbyes. They were thinking of each other -- of the depth of their history, and of how very together they were, and, a little bit, of their regrets.
The other side of a regret is a wish. Specifically, it's a wish that things had been different. And when angels and demons wish for things, reality often has a way of bending around them, even if all they're thinking of is each other.
A few years ago, Aziraphale and Crowley desperately tried to hide a little half-miracle from Heaven; they weren't completely sure of themselves, and they had the awkward distraction of dealing with Jim in the meantime. That teeny-tiny little half-a-miracle ended up warping reality the same amount as if they'd brought Lazarus back to life 25 times.
This time, Aziraphale and Crowley weren't hiding anything; they were united and committed in front of their very maker, and their thoughts were pure. They loved each other, and they loved humanity, and they wished they'd been allowed to choose each other like humans do.
Reality listened. In effect, they held hands with no one between them and did an 8 billion Lazarii miracle. They brought themselves and the universe they knew forward into the universe being created anew.
It took a while (13.8 billion years), but the stuff that had once made up people and histories who had disintegrated before our eyes eventually reintegrated. For all the power of the Book of Life, Aziraphale and Crowley weren't undone. The world had a connection to Aziraphale and Crowley, and Aziraphale and Crowley made a connection to the next universe. And like Michael carrying the Archangels with her, they carried the world with them. It wasn't a one-way relationship, either; the remaining hints of the wills of people who had been erased clung to that one little bridge for dear existence. That's what free will looks like when there's nothing else left.
It wasn't a perfect duplicate of the old universe. The people couldn't be angels or demons, of course, so the angels and demons all got stirred into humanity. But it turns out a sapient being is a sapient being. Everyone was also starting from scratch, experience-wise, which leads to questions about whether they were the same people at all. But they were certainly continuations of the same stories.
You could argue that this means there was technically celestial interference in humanity’s next course, but all the quantum-level stuff that was brought over from the previous universe had to slog through billions of years of the laws of physics before any of it came together in a human way we would recognize, and it could have been stopped at any time if it weren't made of the echoes of people trying really hard, so I think it's earned its place in this universe, too.
As for God, She's on the outside, off doing something ineffable somewhere else. She knew right away that the new universe was made of the same stuff, including the same people (for starters, anyway) as the previous one. But She had already set the parameters: She could not interfere.
Sometimes She peers in to see how the slow-cooking universe is doing, but She doesn't have any particular plan. Sometimes, it's more interesting to see what happens when you don't stick your nose where it doesn't belong. It turns out that She doesn't have to mess people around for their lives to be worth witnessing.
Technically, They still had the stuff, the bits everyone and everything had been made of. Billions of humans and millions of angels and demons and a universe incomprehensible to anyone but Them. It was raw material. Pre-primordial dust.
God was greater than the Book of Life. After all, They had created it. Anyone They had ever created could be erased from reality, but not from Their reality, which was another, more real reality behind the first one. They avoided letting anyone know about this, largely because They would never hear the end of it otherwise.
Part of the experiment here was that They wouldn't make Plans for the next universe, but They did want to allow Earth and humans to develop. In that case, surely it would make sense to recycle the same material.
In fact, it could be a second part to the experiment. It would be interesting to see whether all the parts would find each other again. Given the same raw materials, would the same people come along? Would they come back to each other? Without Them pushing things along, would pieces of people have the will to reunite into a whole?
They gathered all the stuff that used to be Crowley and Aziraphale and everyone else into a tiny black marble and blew it up.
Time would tell.
I want to rewrite GO, like the whole entire story, novel page by novel page and script line by script line, as an actual comedic romantasy.
I've thought of just writing an original story with similar themes, but there are too many things specific to GO that I'm passionate about that I couldn't reasonably pass off as my own. "This is my totally original story about the Serpent of Eden and the Angel of the Eastern Gate falling in love with each other and humanity!"
It's really self-indulgent and unoriginal, but maybe it's better to just be honest that that's what I want. I could make it a slow burn with a philosophical focus like what we're used to but Aziraphale and Crowley could notice each other's lips a little more often in the narration.
Hello Good Omens fandom! I had the pleasure to be commissioned by my good friend @janeway-lover to do a huge illustration of the archangel Uriel in their true angelic form. This piece took a total of 23+ hours in total (many many days of work). I think this is one of the biggest pieces I’ve done in 5 years!! I hope you all enjoy it.
[ID in ALT: An illustration of the archangel Uriel from Good Omens in their true form. Behind them on their right is a golden eagle and on the left is a brown, furry Bull. Behind them are six white wings. Around them are several floating eyes as well as a horizontal metal ring through a vertical metal ring both covered in eyes. The rings also read part of a prayer: “O holy Saint Uriel, intercede for us that our hearts may burn with the fire of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.”. All eyes in this illustration are glowing. Uriel holds a scroll out in front of them, with one hand holding the base of the roll, with the other holding the paper out. From that hand it falls down through one of the rings and towards the viewer. The scroll is filled with text from the book of Revelations. The sun shines brightly behind them, lighting up their form. / END ID]

A whole feckin' redo of S3: The Final Omen
Because we will not accept that our ineffable idiots died in the most inane and avoidable way possible.
Buckle up, sweet-cheeks. This is a 187,788-word-long fic in 29 delectable chapters of angst, smut, treason and a happy ending.
The Final Omen
Nearly a year after returning to Heaven as Supreme Archangel, Aziraphale learns that the Second Coming is no distant prophecy but an active and deadly project. This time, Heaven intends to succeed, and Aziraphale has been tasked with delivering it.
Hell has already made its move. A new Antichrist has been planted, not in a human but in a demon, a choice calculated to destabilise Heaven’s certainty from the inside out.
And, of course, Aziraphale and Crowley are not speaking.
What passed between them before the separation still lingers, unresolved and unspoken, and both will work independently to stop the Second Coming and save the imperfect world they have spent millennia protecting.
A story about rebellion, perfection and loss, and the dangerous hope that love, even delayed, might still change the ending.
Oh. And there's a baby too.
I'm engaging with plenty of GO 3 fix-its and even writing at least one of my own (and possibly several), but I can't reject Asa and Anthony. In my opinion, at best, they are literal reincarnations. Also in my opinion, at worst, they are an extension of the same story, in defiance of God's comment that a story doesn't have to continue past its last page. In any case, I liked them right away. They are comfortable, and I want to peek into their lives more, and if I try to refrain from folding them into my heart with Crowley and Aziraphale out of some sense of narrative obligation, I will go actually genuinely for real even further off the deep end.
I also think we're experiencing conflict over some concepts that are genuinely baffling to the most brilliant philosophers of all time (I'm thinking especially of the concepts of free will and personal identity). Fandom is not going to resolve these issues in a definitive way, so as in my everyday life, leaning into things I love (in this case, it's characters and moments both old and new) feels like the only way to actually move forward.
I'm using a lot of "I" and "I feel" and "my opinion" to drive home that this isn't supposed to be a complaint about you, reader, just an expression of where I'm at in all this tension after I've been silent for a long time.

The Mischief
Aziraphale has a Principality Challenge brewing for you all, but in the meantime it is PriDe Month, and I thought why not bring a little more chaos?
So introducing The Mischief.
And this June the Challenge I lay out for you lot is to fill the Book of Pride.
This world is nowhere near queer enough. Individuality and love should be celebrated and shown.
We all deserve to see more acceptance.
Plus, it’s a Deadly Sin, so Aziraphale can add it to his collection in case God decides to break our bargain and peek in again.
What does it mean, though?
Pictures, stories (one page), art, or anything else that can be printed on one A5 page (including some margins). Something related to the Good Omens Universe and Pride. Anything you consider “canon” to whatever dimension you would like.
Share your creations on Bluesky, Tumblr, Twitter, TikTok, or wherever else you would like and tag them #TheMischief and #BookOfPride
And then turn them in here: https://forms.gle/ZpE9v3uypbg25hGq9
We’re going to compile them all into one master Good Omens Book of Pride.
Your contribution needs to be turned in by June 30th so that we can print it and send it to @theineffablecon with a few @crowleysratties It will be on our table there if you would like to add something in person.
Sure, Aziraphale could miracle together the binding but you know he’s going to want to do it himself.
Oh, and Aziraphale and I will choose our favourite entry to send a small prize to.
So off with you. Make some rainbows
