☆ richard taught mason to smoke cigarettes/cigars when they were kids ; despite this , he used to hate when mason ( or anyone else ) would smoke weed because of the smell ---- it gives him a headache ..... this doesn't mean he didn't find other ways to get high when he was younger and he still smokes when he's away from the public / when he can make it seem more classy and less nicotine addiction ☆ double-majored in business and political science at whitmore college graduated summa cum laude , and had an incredibly difficult time rejecting the consulting jobs he was offered in nyc to come home and manage the family finances / estate / legacy ☆ can count the number of people outside of his family that he's cared about on one hand. was closest with bill & grayson growing up ( though he got unexpectedly close with miranda and abby later on ). they were painfully well-loved by the community despite not being particularly good people ( around one another was the best time to let the mask slip ). with grayson & miranda dead and bill & abby doing god knows what , he's become more draconian and apathetic. there were plans that everyone knew. roles everyone knew. rules to abide by ..... then there weren't. richard isn't a fan of the change. ☆ he does care for tyler , but would not have chosen to have any child in another life. ☆ does not enjoy nature unless it's behind glass ☆ unfortunately , quite similar to his own father. ☆ were you wondering who the caroline forbes of the friend group was ? it wasn't bill ..... grayson left his stolen medical supplies strewn about the room once too often and richard tried to stab him with a pair of iris scissors in retaliation. he drove grayson and bill equally insane. ☆ despite everything , he really does love carol and wants only good things for her. this does not make him a great husband. ☆ hates holidays ☆ intentionally staged an accident for a 18th vase because he was sick of looking at it ☆ hates that he's in too respectable a position to get in a tousle anymore. he used to love a fight. ☆ often thinks about the ways he could kill someone he's in polite conversation with when they begin to grate on him ☆ frequently gets headaches because of how sensitive he is sensorially. relatedly , he needs to work in silence and doesn't care for too sweet or sour things ☆ sometimes looks at carol and wonders who she may have been if they never married ☆ there's a small scar creeping down from richard's temple from when mason accidentally smashed his head off the staircase when they were fighting as kids ☆ at sixteen , he hit a dog with his car while driving home drunk from a party with carol , miranda , grayson , bill , and abby ( he got his license first ). the dog wasn't dead yet , but wasn't going to make it. there was a handgun in the glove compartment of his dad's car. grayson shot the dog. when they got back in the car , they told everyone it richard did it.
