Discovered by Jean Dubuffet and supported by Michel Nedjar, Robillard has two fields of predilection: the guns and the space. His āart thingsā as the artist calls them, are made from recycled materials such as cans, cables, wires, nails, light bulbs, plumbing elements, pipes and other spare parts.
From being ill, he became a worker without ever leaving the center. That same year, he made his first rifle from salvaged materials (tin cans, used light bulbs, pieces of wood, fabric, etc.), " to kill the misery", he said. Shortly afterward, his psychiatrist, Dr. Paul Renard, sent some of them to Jean Dubuffet , who was then building his collection of Art Brut ; the two men met several times. Robillard also made spacecraft and Sputniks.
The world is in great peril, and you are the unlucky protagonist who must save it! Spin this wheel three times and get your Dragon Age party that you're stuck trying to save it with.
Feel free to reroll repeats. Most are companions, but there are also a few companion-adjacent possibilities. You can assume that you as the protagonist have a basic level of combat competency even if you don't in real life, so don't worry about yourself
How does your party fare?
The world is in good hands
You'll do it, but you'll be arguing the whole time
The day is saved but at what cost?
Distracted from the main plot indefinitely
Tearing each other to pieces before the enemy gets a chance
Got Sten, Blackwall and Manfred. I'm guessing the first two would eventually get along by being quiet and stern looking and bonding over not feeling good about killing civilians.
Manfred would make sure the party is comfortable.
Okay, Sten would probably freak the fuck out over Manfred and try to destroy him at first, but maybe Manfred can learn to make cookies, so I guess he could win him over. It's not like the warden can't force Sten to be friends with them.
So, to make sure her family wouldnāt stop her final wishes from being enacted, I havenāt been able to talk about this publicly, but now I can:
On March 1, @rubynye (aka Ny Martin) collapsed in her kitchen due to sudden cardiac arrest. She was declared brain dead and passed on March 3. She was 50 years old.
Ny was a singularly talented person. She was not only a gifted writer, singer, poet, chef and artist, she had the ability to make you feel like the most important person in the world just by smiling at you.
I first encountered her in 2009, on the Star Trek XI kinkmeme on LJ. I was in AWE of her wordsmithery. She could so carefully identify and communicate moments that I was intimidated by her immediately. I didnāt know she even knew who I was until she used my head canon in a story. I was gobsmacked.
She would tell you she felt the same way about me, but I always felt like I was honored to call her my friend.
I feel like itās important to say that Ny was a fan of color, and as a Black Woman often faced down things in fandom that were dehumanizing, demoralizing, or just enraging. I learned how to be a better antiracist from her, how to be a better friend, and how to be a better creator in a fandom with non-white characters. She was sometimes rightfully, righteously furious, and she taught me how to sit with her in those moments without trying to fix them. I always felt honored to have earned that trust.
Ny loved so much. She adored children, and would often ask after my nibblings. She cooked for everyone, and it was common for her to justā¦mail people food. Here, rainbow fudge. Here, hemp butter. Here, a Jamaican fruitcake. When she came to visit me years ago, she insisted on cooking for me before she left, so Iād have dinners she made. She loved sending people things, both in her millions of bcced emails and in the mail. I have so many postcards of things she saw that made her think of me. She loved mythology, especially Minoans, and she loved space. She loved so much.
One time she printed out a story I wrote and hand annotated it with glee before mailing it to me. Itās one of the most thoughtful things anyone has ever given me.
I could always ask her anything, be it a question about a Black characterās hair or a question about quince jam. I could tell her any crazy idea I had and she would gleefully play in the space.
Long time readers might not know, but it may be obvious in retrospect; when I needed to give Sam Wilson a little sister in Struggle in the Architecture, I named her Ruby in honor of Ny.
Her queue is still going here, and I think many of us are dreading the day it runs out.
If you knew Ny and would like to talk to other people who loved her about your memories and share the things you would have shared with her, we have a discord server, and you can contact me for the link.
If you would like to help her partner pay for her burial, there is a gofundme.
If you want to honor her memory, tell someone something joyful. Donate to a local food pantry.
There will be an online memorial April 12, 1pm EDT. You can sign up for announcements via a Google group: https://groups.google.com/g/nyani-announce
Ny was a blessing in life and will remain a blessing in memory.
Thank you for saying everything that I wish I could have said but haven't been able to get the spoons to.
lemonsharks and I want to put together a fanzine dedicated to Ny. We decided it should be called BWEE! The Book of Ny.
To that end, I set up a discord server to collect stories, poems, recipues, artwork, memories, and messages in a bottle that we wish we could send on to her as we find things that make us think of her, and we think would make her smile or laugh.
If you have a @rubynye story to share, please do. All are welcome.
I didn't know her personally, but @runespoor7 recommended me Twist in the Tail, a Nightwing/Deathstroke fanfiction. Not only was it really good, but despite the fic being 13 years old, at the time, Rubynye still took the time to reply to my comment, and later comments from other readers, something I should try to be a bit better at. I wish her loved ones and friends the best.
The reblog chain is one of the things that makes Tumblr unlike anywhere else. All the notes on reblogs are attributed to the original post, no matter which branch people actually liked or reblogged. We want to keep encouraging conversations, and give contributors the recognition they deserve.Ā
Soon, you'll be able to like, reblog, or reply to any part of a reblog chain, and that note will go to that reblog's author. Each reblog will have its own counts, instead of one aggregated number from every version of the post. And yes, youāll be able to like multiple posts in one chain.
If a reblog doesn't add anything, the love flows up to the last person in the chain who did. Your post doesn't lose notes just because people spread it quietly.
Past notes will stay on the original post ā we're only changing what happens from here on out. Retroactively re-attributing all of them would be... a lot.
This is just the beginning. More changes are coming as we keep building this out ā stay tuned!
Itās very clear that you all have strong feelings about Tumblr and about this change. We hear you. The passion people have for how Tumblr works is one of the things that makes this place special.
As this rolls out over the next few days and you explore it, weāll keep reading your replies and reblogs, so please keep sharing your questions, concerns, and ideas.
Your creativity has always been the heart of Tumblr, whether youāre the original poster or adding something brilliant in the reblogs,Ā and nothing about this change is meant to limit that.
If youād like to talk directly beyond the comments, leave a reply and weāll follow up with as many of you as we can. We want to work with you to make Tumblr better.
I also think it's very telling that doomerism fantasies crystallize around the figure of the Jewish far-right leader who got 7% votes during presidential elections and less than 1% during the Assembly elections of 2024, and not anyone from the non-jewish traditional far-right party that has been on the second turn of presidential elections for twenty years, is extremely popular with the youth, got >30% votes during the Assembly elections of 2024, and leads a party that's the one considered "closest to the concerns of French people" according to polls.
I really wish fewer French leftists, when confronted with antisemitic dogwhistles from their side, would sound like conservatives trying to discredit antiracist opinions.
The playing field is uneven, and leftist militants will get shit no matter what they say. It's okay to not be able to handle that and go do something else, I don't think I would be able to do militantism. That's not a good enough reason for doing exactly what the rest of the political spectrum has been doing for years: cultivating fear and hostility towards a minority to reap electoral support and accusing the people calling you out of projecting.
Also, should I trust that the people who will resort to this sort of unethical tactics 1. have any respect for their voters 2. will be smart and imaginative enough to actually put into practice sorely needed but very complex and sensitive political, social and economic transformations?
So I know there was going to be an airship at some point, but I figured it would be another fast travail option, not an actual classic JRPG airship you can fly around the world map, walk inside, sleep inside! Even better, that it would be a physical objet in the world that you can stop anywhere, jump from and to, fly over and under the floating islands, be customizable, with a few different parts for the hull, cabin and propulsion that all look radically different from each other and impact the handling of the ship and what you can do inside.
They could have just done a fast travel mechanic that looks like an airship where you look at a map and point where you want to teleport, and I wouldn't have complained, they did not need to go all out like that.
yes hello I would like chengxian for the fucked-up ship bingo and any combination of WWX/WQ/JC/WN/LWJ if that sounds fun to you.
chengxian BINGO!
(cheated. i try to be derogatory when I say they're terrible for each other but yall know I'm lyyyyyyying)
i'll do the bingo properly later for other combinations but the demons have me in their clutches, hear me out:
i know you probably didn't mean to imply a singular nightmarish polycule? but i decided to ramble. let's assume we're looking at squares for "terrible for each other (affectionate)/let's play Dolls (psychological torture)".
idk I think it'd be fun if *star wars voice* somehow, lan wangji kept wen qing, wen ning, and wen yuan alive*.
he should do this by marrying wen qing. aka: let's give wangji a harem, aka: this is your sign that we're getting a little goofy with this one.
(let's say that wwx died as per canon, the rest of the wen were wiped out, also per canon, and lwj rescued wen yuan and got himself maimed, also per canon. pretend jgs put wen qing and wen ning on ice but got caught far sooner. two or three years after wei wuxian's death maybe.)
(jiang cheng not in a position to cross jgs even for wen qing because at this point jgs has a toddler as a hostage, but lwj is the stubbornest man alive and he's got an older brother (terrified by his suicidal tendencies) who's very motivated to get him what he (inexplicably!) wants.)
*gestures vaguely* wen ning is politically difficult because no one wants to lose control of a nuke, but in a world where xue yang had a little more trouble controlling him I think jgs could be talked into releasing him to Righteous Lan Custody. cut his losses and keep lan wangji from looking into whatever else xue yang is doing too closely.
pros (by which I mean The Horrors): don't think lan wangji has any interest in women: marrying him to a slightly older woman who maybe understands why he took her four year old relative and integrated him into his clan but still has some resentment about him Stealing Her Cousin would be interesting, I think? not to mention i think it'd be easy for lan wangji to step in and nobly save someone wei ying cared a great deal about, but the reality of lan "#1 wei ying simp" living with wen "girl. stand up" qing would be a little different.
put wen ning and lan wangji in forced proximity when they're both grieving wei wuxian and I do think they would occasionally fuck about it. don't think wen qing would be thrilled about this. lan wangji gets to consider himself a double cheater: unfaithful to his lawful wife and unfaithful to wei ying. wen ning can be unsure about whether he's doing this to repay lan wangji for sheltering them or whether he's seeking comfort with one of the few people alive who remembers wei-gongzi fondly.
in this scenario i think it would take years for jiang cheng to do so much as look in wen qing's general direction, but if jgy eventually murders jgs, they can make miserable eye contact across a crowded room. i don't think wen qing would cheat on her lawful husband but I think the tension would exist and it'd make everyone uncomfortable.
on that note: if wen ning is awake/aware during the timeskip I think he and lan wangji would make each other Worse about jiang cheng. specifically.
(jiang cheng running around convinced that wei wuxian is back from the dead and wen ning the one person who can say with authority that He Is Not, which would also be pretty devastating for lan wangji if we're being honest.)
porny nonsense: we talk a lot about lan wangji and jiang cheng having hatesex during the timeskip. if wen ning is involved it's two on one and everyone is personally furious with jiang cheng about wei wuxian's death/the death of most of the wen. I don't think it would happen more than once, but I DO think wen ning and lan wangji, in wei wuxian's absence, would justify each other's desire to see jiang wanyin brought down a peg or two. (not thinking noncon, exactly, but I think the sex would escalate pretty quickly?)
and then wei wuxian comes back from the dead! well!
I think he would be delighted to call himself part of lan wangji's harem and I think everyone else would Hate That A Lot.
I think once he got the faintest whiff of an idea that lan wangji and wen qing's marriage was strictly political in nature he'd be invested in seeing wen qing in a romantic relationship. god help everyone involved if he figures out that wen qing and jiang cheng once Considered each other, Romantically.
from his point of view, a) of course wen qing should get what she wants. b) don't know if he'd conceptualize it like this out loud: if jiang cheng doesn't want anything to do with wei wuxian anymore, but he still wants wen qing, and wen qing is married to lan zhan, well.
it's not like wen qing is bait! it's just great that jiang cheng has a reason to come to cloud recesses regularly!
I am Considering the Nightmare polycule and find this and LWJ extremely entertaining. Agree that everyone would Hate A Lot wwx calling himself "part of LWJ's harem." The WN situation of it all. WWX and "Wen Qing should have what she wants and I want JC! The Lans' many wen-related headaches. Sizhui knowing WQ and WN!!!! lwj and wn double-teaming jc while everyone is very angry at jc for wwx dying. wonder if wq (or later, wwx) learns about it and what she makes of it!
Considering the JC/LWJ/WN thing going on (how much effort does WQ make to not know what's going on, there?), there would be a lot of unspoken shit about JC being sometimes inexplicably defiant about being degraded for WWX's death because he knows he also saved WWX's life once, and it cost him everything (even though BSR fixed him later, thanks to WWX), so it's pretty rich to get that vibe from those guys who never had to make that sacrifice. And for WN, obviously, he knows about the transfer and that disgusts him about JC, and LWJ has no idea about either of those things and can maybe just sometimes be like "What is those guys' problem? Not mine anyway." Actually, I'm wondering if, while he goes with it, he might get a little weirded out by the intensity for a time, and the strange vibe that this might be about more than WWX for them (it's not reaaally, but he definitely doesn't have the whole picture) and that makes him uncomfortable.
everyone in my replies rn like āuhhhhhhm well actually š¤āļø toph couldnāt make a powerpoint āļø because sheās blind š¤āļøš¤āļøā first of all, shut the fuck up. second of all, you know nothing
The thing I wanna know about Wei "I am missing an entire internal organ and no one can ever know" Wuxian is. How did he manage to keep that under wraps when literally the primary mode of transit in his social circle is flying sword. We know he was still going to parties and stuff. "I forgot Suibian at home" can only work as an excuse so many times. Was he just dramatically late to every event so no one had to see him arriving on foot. Was he taking the bus.
He can be supremely annoying and Sect Leader has shown infinite favoritism toward him while complaining all the time, so I don't see Jiang disciples refusing him. So gotta assume he was constantly flying with JC or another disciple, or simply not coming at all and then pretending he'd forgotten they were supposed to go somewhere.
How he managed to go to the Jin Camp, or every night-hunt he and WN went to while they lived in the BM, or the talk conference, or how he returned from the cave LWJ had stashed him in to the BM, otoh, I think it's just a matter of it not being important to the story.
Just started playing Chants of Sennaar and this game gets political really fast, this is gonna be interesting.
Screenshot of Chants of Sennaar, with the player character facing three stern looking soldiers barring access to a door. One of the soldiers speaks through a bubble in their language, and gets translated as "I work for Sarkozy".
Yes, Pontormo is perfectly emblematic of mannerism! the "other side" of the 16th-century florentine painters, who appealed more to patrons with strange taste.
I love that people are resharing this Pontormo ⦠out of the context of my blog I see why some people are reacting to my calling it strangeāit sounds like Iām unable to account for its qualities or that I canāt understand it. In fact what I mean is that it has an uncanny light-effect in person, because of Pontormoās special ability to lash up colors which buzz next to each other and bring them to their height of effectiveness, because it is simply so large, because the surfaces he achieves are so smooth that light moves on them and glows on them without settling. It is a weird experience in person. It doesnāt have the unnervingly animate, ensoulled effect of, say, a Raphaelāas if one is with a warm bodyābut it is so luminous, so extreme in its ways of getting to luminosity, that it is almost overwhelming.
Yes, I think strange is the perfect word to describe the mannerists.
When Pomponazzi denied proof of the soulās immortality, the Renaissance Neoplatonic humanists debated the body as a container, vs the body as integral to the soul. Pontormo inherits the body = soul theology from Michelangelo. The importance of the body underscores Pontormoās emphasis on monumentally scaled, silky textured divine flesh. Bonaventure and the Franciscans spearheaded this idea in the doctrine of Marian assunta and co-redemptrix, and mannerist painters like Pontormo were responding by painting long, flat, white, serpentine figures. Distorting idealism to go beyond bodily perfection.
