Thc Detox
He remembered the first time that he had seen the sunrise, he was twenty-two and living on Mars, and the dust storms had settled enough for him to glance out over the horizon and see the distant orb of the sun glowing and beckoning, giving off odious amounts of warm life.
Ā Life on the Martian colony was hard, and many had turned to sources like random entertainment and drugs in order to pass the time. He had never gone in for those things, preferring instead to focus on his work and dream of the day he could get off-planet and head to Earth. Some of the people on the colony had left behind families, loved ones, friends and entire lives, heading to Mars on the premise of a dream and hoping for the best.
Ā He had no ties to Earth, being born on the colony and never setting foot on the lush green planet that he would often see when the dust allowed. The world had begun to change on Mars. People had been growing restless at the lack of available resources and the overcrowding, with many nurturing a dream of colonizing Earth and starting a new life. The history books had told them about life's history on the planet Earth, and how precious resources have been squandered in order to gain money and create political barriers between its inhabitants.
Ā Over-consumption and selfishness had driven them from the planet, forcing them to take a gamble on a completely new world. For him, his parents were among the first wave to leave Earth, starting their family on Mars instead of bringing it with them from Earth. Not a day had gone by that he did not dream of loading up his ship and taking off to this new planet, experiencing all that it had to offer.
Ā In the time that man had left it, the Earth had been virtually restored to its previous quality. Rivers flowed freely and clean of toxins, animal life thrived and plant life had increased one hundred fold. There was a growing sentiment among the settlers that Earth was their only hope, as the other planets were either too far away or could not sustain it the idea of life. For many, the pressure of living on a colony devoid of resources had caused them to turn to drugs and other vices. He had seen virtually everything you could imagine on the colony, from heroin and THC detox all the way to Olympic games that were literally life-and-death. When it came down to his preferences, he would have preferred theĀ THC detoxĀ to the Olympic Games. The planet was dangerous, the people were restless and a change was needed, he felt that it was up to him to take the chance and do what was necessary in his own life to pursue his dreams and become the person that he had always wanted to be.
