The Good Place really said “People improve when they get external love and support. How can we hold it against them, when they don’t?” and "We choose to be good because of our bonds with other people" and "What matters isn’t if people are good or bad. What matters is if they’re trying to be better today than they were yesterday" and "If soulmates do exist, they aren't found, they're made" and "That knowledge [that life ends] is what gives life meaning" and "The answer is friends" and "That’s what the Good Place really is — it’s not even a place, really. It’s just having enough time with the people you love" and I think that's very sexy of them
Remember that tomorrow could be the day where you find a new favorite song. Or see a cute dog. Or fall in love with a new TV show. Or start reading a book which will change you for the better. Or meet your new best friend or future partner. Or discover your new favorite video game. Or see a beautiful sunset. Or eat some delicious food. Or achieve one of your goals. Or create something cool which you're proud of. When you're getting lost in "what ifs", remember that they aren't all negative. Lots of wonderful things could happen to you anytime.

Normal People
“Marianne had the sense that her real life was happening somewhere very far away, happening without her, and she didn’t know if she would ever find out where it was or become part of it.”
— Sally Rooney, Normal People
“Things happened to him, like the crying fits, the panic attacks, but they seemed to descend on him from outside, rather than emanating from somewhere inside himself. Internally he felt nothing. He was like a freezer item that had thawed too quickly on the outside and was melting everywhere, while the inside was still frozen solid. Somehow he was expressing more emotion than any time in his life before, while simultaneously feeling less, feeling nothing.”
— Normal People, Sally Rooney
“She closes her eyes. He probably won’t come back, she thinks. Or he will, differently. What they have now they can never have back again. But for her the pain of loneliness will be nothing to the pain that she used to feel, of being unworthy. He brought her goodness like a gift and now it belongs to her. Meanwhile his life opens out before him in all directions at once. They’ve done a lot of good for each other. Really, she thinks, really. People can really change one another. You should go, she says. I’ll always be here. You know that.”
— Sally Rooney, Normal People

Le nostre paure sono molto più numerose dei pericoli concreti che corriamo. Soffriamo molto di più per la nostra immaginazione che per la realtà.
