ok so. it's all just vibes. i do not work in the hard sciences so i don't know what evil science is necessarily being done... probably some cross between like. scp foundation stuff and like.. reanimator type stuff. but i like to think in this au holly's been a test subject since she was a younger teenager and thus is generally quite emotionally immature and sort of volatile. possibly dangerous also due to the nature of the tests... who's to say. i think that emily is a fairly normal Scientist Thing... she probably only works with holly peripherally until holly starts requesting her a lot of the time. i imagine she is more in the side of data recording than anything else (#spreadsheetwarrior) so it is especially uncomfortable when holly velcros onto her. if emily was like. a nurse or more of a caretaker role it would seem more natural and less disquieting to her, cause obviously people respond well to consistent warmth and kindness. but holly seems to have just locked in on emily based off of very little (her personality??) so that's a bit scary to emily. but it also makes her feel special.

holly also starts off very intense but there's like. a definite sweetness behind it. she makes the friend job-application and gives it to emily like she does in board game league, but it's so much crazier than it already was because it's so hard for holly to even get the resources to do that and get it to emily. emily starts off pretty avoidant and nervous about it all but eventually starts almost subconsciously trying to soothe and take care of holly when she's around her, and all of holly's big glaring warning signs are eventually ignored because emily recognizes most of those issues come from holly's situation as a test subject and thus feels this kind of guilt about it, and as penance wants to shape holly into something resembling an emotionally functional adult. so there's a lot of guilt and anxiety on emily's part basically the whole time. yay!

other people are there too! sullivan and dom are emily's even more terrible and evil coworkers and they do their normal thing where sullivan is actually quite competent and capable but lets dom boss him around all the time anyway. for like... enrichment. it's just his nature. laurie is probably the project lead (but because of how much i liked him acting like a pacified mindless zombie experiment in monopoly but zombies 2, i almost also want to make him a test subject. but it's not who he is...) and tilly is like. a corporate head person that comes in sometimes and is generally crazy and dysfunctional. so tilly gets to be scary. yay. she also always talks about not understanding what's happening, much like she does with board games. so she comes in soemtimes and stalks around the office being like wow i don't understand any of this shit. no Its not my problem. It's because you all are NERDS. But you're cool. and I'm gonna kill everyone. Goodbye. adam is also like a corporate boss guy that shows up sometimes but he's annoying and everyone hates him. he just tries too hard to be involved. it's lame

i've also decided i want blair to be a physical therapist because there is definitely a part of the team that works on the subject's general wellbeing. i basically want her to be a "Nice" character because she is less directly involved with Evil Science and is a friendly face to the subjects. but of course she is complicit As Fuck!

i'm not sure where other cast members fall in here. this is partially an excuse to talk about them being coworkers even more than i already do, because now i'm not bound by the constraints of the reality of nrb's business model and studio. yay!

is it just me or was anyone else expecting the final giant to be senua's dad? in hellblade 1 we learned that he sold out his people in exchange for safe passage north. he could have feasibly made his way to borgaviki and made an even worse deal with the goði which turned him into a giant. if we're going with the 'the giants never existed' route, it makes even more sense why senua would see him.

if zynbel was the final obstacle, it would give extra depth to the 'we are not our fathers' thing between senua and thorgestr, and explain why he has the rot. it would give senua a chance to confront the monster and call him by his true name - not tyrant, not shadow. just dad. zynbel.
