{175} Movies Seen in 2020 - 4 ½ Stars
A 3-hour movie that starts really slow and we only see Mozart after a while. I kept thinking, who is this old man? Turns out he was the best person to introduce us to this brilliant man.
So we see both stories, Mozart’s and Salieri’s. Mozart is popular at parties and childish, but undoubtedly a genius, perhaps too much so, too difficult, ahead of his time. Salieri loves and hates him, he is God and the Devil, friend and enemy. The constant duality is brilliant.
And the movie is gorgeous, the last half hour is breathtaking. Mozart in a bed, composing until the end, singing the melody while we listen to the soundtrack follow his voice. Perfection.
