there's this weird thing people fall into online a lot, where people assume that if the [perceived-to-be-inferior] version of [activity] is discouraged then people will, naturally, do [perceived-to-be-superior] version of [activity] instead. When really it's just as (or more) likely that if [perceived-to-be-inferior] version of [activity] is discouraged people just won't do it at all.
audiobook listeners are not necessarily people who would otherwise do a lot of traditional reading if audiobooks did not exist, many are people who simply would experience zero books. Booktok romance readers would not necessarily be reading the classics if booktok did not exist, many of them would simply not read. Fanfiction writers would not necessarily be novelists if fanfic wasn't an option, many would just be people who didn't write. You know?
And for the blonde man, perhaps some torture?

do you like my repetitive and outdated music taste
this is random but today i'm just feeling so grateful i am that i learned how to crochet & knit. i spent all day today fantasizing about coming home to my fiber arts projects, the delays on my commute home were no big deal because i was just sitting there knitting, i'm packing for an upcoming vacation and packing a bunch of colorful tank tops i made myself... idk i just love fiber arts
is this gonna get me fired you think
Reblog this and tell me what was your biggest crying over a piece of fiction. You can be vague if you don't want to spoil.
itās so hard for me to not doxx myself every single day btw. my oversharerās spirit is being stifled by internet safety
Gilmore Girls ā 4.09: Ted Koppel's Big Night Out
Man, we have got to stop treating art like it has an expiration date. That show stopped airing? Doesnāt mean it canāt haunt your every waking thought. Everybodyās into this album, but you donāt have the energy for new music right now? Itāll be waiting for you when youāre ready. That movieās fifty years old and indie as shit? Incredible, you have the chance to share it with folks who might never otherwise feel that particular punch of delight. Books donāt go bad. Shows inspire fandoms decades after theyāve wrapped up. Weāre still looking at cave paintings and statue work from ancient times and letting the joy of creation bring tears to our eyes. Thatās the point of art. Itās as close to immortality as we ever get. Why try to give that magic a shelf life?
