Hi! How are you? I hope you're having a good day!

This is gonna seem really out of place and specific but I've always been wondering about it and never had the courage to ask. I remember a few years ago you drew a sort of court magician outfit for Asra and I was absolutely bewitched by it! But I somehow cannot find it on your account anymore. There are actually a lot of drawings from you that i liked but ended up being deleted. Is there a reason why? It's totally okay if you don't want to answer but I was just very curious!

Whoa… that goes way back too ! I don’t really remember specifically removing that drawing (if it’s the one I’m thinking of), but it may have been related to an old controversy in The Arcana fandom : there was this original illustration where Asra wears an outfit with a striped scarf and white fur, which was quite rightly criticized for being too stereotypical, bordering on Orientalism. I think that at the time I ended up sorting through some of my old fanarts because of that. If I removed the fanart with the court magician outfit, it was probably for that reason as well. I’ve been criticized by a few before for overly sexualizing or making Asra seem ‘exotic,’ just as I’ve also been criticized for removing fanart, so yeah… there is no easy answer ! I’m simply doing my best to be respectful and to learn about all those western biases in order to better avoid them... In any case, there’s absolutely no problem with asking me questions so feel free ;)

Okay so this might seem really out of left field.

I found a post about savenkey’s Arcana art guide and did some digging to find it but found out that they essentially wiped their accounts from the internet. Super sucks that they were like that but do you happen to have the link to the art guide they made?

I’m knew to the fandom and would love to have something to help me reference for art and from the few random photos of it ive seen its really put together and helps me understand how the shading works.

It’s totally cool if you ignore this but I just thought maybe if I reached out to you I could maybe get the file…?

Incredible that I have to say this, but trying to neg an artist into making the art YOU want to see instead of the art they want to make... Is not a very good strategy? Being rude to people doesn't get you what you want, in fact, it often has the opposite effect. Dork.

Since some of you don't seem to understand how this 'new notes' thing works, I'll break it down:

I'm the OP. I'm making this post. If you like, comment, reblog (without comment) on this post, then I'm the one who will see all those notes in my activity page.

However...

If you reblog (with comment), I will get a notification that you did that, but any likes/comments/reblogs (without comment) you get on that reblog will only be shown to you. As OP I won't see them.

If someone adds a reblog (with comment) to your reblog...as OP I won't see that. I won't see any of those notes in my activity page.

Basically, if someone with a large following makes a comment, then they will get all the notes and OP will see nothing. If OP has said something silly because they're, y'know, 21 and it happens, and then someone reblogs it onto the dash of someone with a large following who then dunks on them for fun? OP doesn't see it, doesn't get notes for it, but they're gonna get the harrassment for it in their inbox.

If I, someone with a 5 digit follower count, reblog something to correct misinformation on Ancient Egypt, then OP will never see it unless it was on the original post, but I will continue to get notes on that post even though it's not my post. If I reblog fanart, or just art in general, with a comment like 'Oh this is so lovely!' then OP will not see any of the notes from people reblogging it from me. They'll only see my reblog. So it's possible for an art post by someone else to have 200 notes for them, but 9000 for someone who reblogs it with a comment, and the OP artist will have no idea it's been seen by that many people.

It's killing blow to the community we've built here, by someone higher up who doesn't understand that being able to see all the comments and reblogs is what makes this site the place I keep coming back to.

That's what sucks.

I encourage people to go to tumblr's support page, select contact support, and then in the dropdown menu select 'Feedback' and leave polite and constructive feedback (for those of you who enjoy 'emails worded politely but are a strong 'are you an idiot?', try that way of wording it). They're more likely to listen to you if you're not an asshole about it. I've already gone and done this, and I hope others will too.

Another tip for DDG - if you want to permanently get rid of DDG's AI features (which you can turn off in settings, but only temporarily) - for now you can just use noai.duckduckgo.com as your search engine. Works as advertised in the name.

Haha I've got this question in my DM a few times already ^^

I don't have a faceclaim, but in my early Nate's drawings, you couldn't miss the inspiration from Flynn Rider, to give him a bit of that Disney Prince vibe.

I was also already picturing his nose like Anders, from Dragon Age Origins, and his hairstyle is a mix between Anders' and one from the Sims 4 back when I tried to create him and the team ^^;;; even if now I'm drawing his hair more wavy.

I think the main focus points when I draw him are the nose, the thick eyebrows and warm eyes, and the jawline.

Ah, thank you so much, I’m really touched by your message, which helps me especially during this difficult time, when I’m doubting my artistic abilities (and my career in general, with the economic crisis, artificial intelligence, all that stuff…).

Asra will always be a comforting character for me to draw, and it makes me really happy to be able to share my drawings with other fans ♡( ◡‿◡ )
