“You must know the thought processes of the Grimleal if you are to understand how to deal with them, correct?” he asked, folding his arms in an exasperated manner. Two hours, they had been at this. Two. Hours. And not a smidgen of headway.

"..."

Yarne peed on himself and took off.

“I was just coming over to explain myself,” he replied with an exasperated sigh, “I was sleeping with my eyes open, and you ran as though I was flinging spells in your direction!”

The taguel paused for a moment. had that really been the case. Thinking back to it, he had seen Validar be rather passive, almost like he was out of his body. It’d make sense for him to be sleeping with his eyes open. “I-if that’s so t-then prove it! Do something to be prove you aren’t going to harm me!”

“How about a small tidbit you may enjoy?” he said, smiling, “If I were here to kill you or harm you... it would already be done. I have done nothing but attempt to explain myself so far. Is that proof enough for you, tiny Taguel?”

Validar was unsure as to why he was doing this. Stupid Vaike and his drinking games. Now he had to give this stranger a back massage.

“Ech…” he groaned as he turned to the man, “Are you… ready, sir?”

“They were… believed to be dead,” he explained, “Killed by this very army in their pursuit to rid the world of blights. Walhart was a Conquerer before joining on, Gangrel was known as Plegia’s Mad King, and Aversa and I… we were Grimleal, attempting to usher in the age of Grima.”

“The age of Grima? Sounds dark, I guess. So what…you were the bad guys? damn I can’t believe you’re even alive. My old army would have skinned and roasted ya alive at this point.” Dieck grunted as the shock treatment continued across his back. “So did ya have a change of heart? Or did they just take pity on you after they beat your sorry ass?”

“Well... a bit of both, I suppose,” he answered honestly, “I was surprised when they took me in, but I had- at that point- renounced Grima, and they said they needed every able body for the coming battle.” Validar relented, ending his shock treatment. “There, done. You will be sore for a short while, but it should not be anything too detrimental.”

"Vali!" The little dragon girl came running. "Nowi needs a smooch, quick!"

Validar grinned, giving his love a light peck on the lips. “My, aren’t you affectionate,” he teased, “What brings this on?”

Nowi giggled. “Well, ya see, this greymage guy put a hex on me. He said that if I didn’t kiss somebody right away, I’d fall into a deeeeep sleep for a whole day! It sounded pretty awesome, but Nowi was also kinda in the mood for a kiss. So I came and found you!” She smiled cheekily at her fiancé.

“So it wasn’t because of love that you sought me out, it was just to fill a need? I see how things will be,” he teased, a wide smirk upon his face, “So much for being a devoted wife if all you need me for is kisses...”

"Care to know your future, wanderer?"

Giving a dull stare Rath looked over the pale male who had approached. “..How much?” His only response came slowly The man didn’t look like a thief as a matter of fact he looked somewhat frial. That plus the robes he passed in the nomad’s mind as someone who looked set in the ways of magic. Stopping his analysis of the man he questioned. “Why me?”

“You look like a man in need of direction, friend,” Validar responded, “Now… the cards, the cards, just take three. And won’t you take a little look into your future with me?” At that, he fanned out a deck of Tarot cards for Rath to choose from.

Staring dully he watched the deck skillfully fanned out in front of him, clearly the man had a flair for showmanship. Impressed non the less the nomad carefully reached out taking no more than three, per instructed. “So… now I show them to you… or do you guess or something?” Never sure how the arts of magic were even started Rath tried his best to no come across as completely incompetent.

“Splay them out, so that I might know your life,” he said, almost sneering. Truly, it was much fun, playing this little game with people.

Looking from the cards to the male who promised to reveal the future and it’s secrets, Rath once again followed the instructions. The cards were interesting to say the least but for the life of him he would have never made heads or tails from the images depicted. “Are these any good?” His interest slowly rising further and further.

“Yes, these will do nicely,” he said, “Now, let us begin with the Past, my friend.” He flipped over the card, humming when he saw the image upon it. “This card is named ‘Strength.’ It represents a fortitude of will and psyche. You were hard to crack in the past, were you not?”

"Care to know your future, wanderer?"

Pulseless || Walhart + Validar

Again Validar was surprised by the unrelenting force which drove this man. He realized that he would need to push harder if he was to overcome Walhart’s senses. He pushed to half power with Dominance, more powerful but more physically draining. He laughed, seeing the lobster man straining beneath his armor.

“You talk of grand stories, Conqueror,” he called out, “but even the dead will fail to compulsion. Cowardly? I think not, not in terms of battle! How better to beat your opponent than by having them beat themselves!? As you will do for me, Walhart.” He growled, his voice becoming intense.

“Now… Heed my call!”

Have your opponent beat themselves? Bah, what stupidity! People were more than just tools to break against the rocks of life, and this was something that Walhart just now realized he honestly despised in the Grimleal mage. How could you dare to underestimate people so! Walhart made that mistake and it was one of his most shocking regrets. How could he take pride in that…?

Walhart felt the pressure build in his forehead, and he shook it off. Dominance meant nothing to him - he was feeling not only a burning need to prove himself superior in this bout, but to prove Validar wrong on all his assumptions. He wanted to make the man see the worth of life.

“Never.” He hissed, focusing on stomping forward at an even pace. “I will never bow to you. I choose who I kneel to!”

"Ngh… what!?" How was he still resisting!? This man must have a will stronger than steel. Validar considered ramping it up to full power, but decided against it. To do so would be suicide if it did not work, and considering this man, it might not. So instead, Validar kept pushing on at half power, assaulting the red man with as much as he dared to put out. "You will now before your new master!!"

"..."

Yarne peed on himself and took off.

“You do realize that we are on the same side, correct?” he called down, “As I said, I am not here to kill you!”

Yet. Still… yet.

Yarne’s trembling softened. “S-since when? You tried to kill me last time, remember? You pulled me out of my rabbit whole by my ears, even,” he barked. “Prove it! What do you want from me?”

A cold shiver ran down Stahl’s spine as he turned to face the Grimleal. Bacon strip in hand, Stahl quickly scarfed the greasy bits in his mouth before finally opening his mouth to speak.

“Validar. What do you want?”

“Hrrg…” Such a bratish man! If he had not given up his darker ways after everything that had happened… my, would this emerald buffoon suffer.

“Look, I know you don’t like me,” he said bluntly, “Hells, there are precious few in this army that do. Still, I was reinstated as King of Plegia… my ties to the Grimleal are no more… could you please show me the way to breakfast, at least? Your commander and I have matters of state to discuss, and I cannot concentrate with an empty stomach.”

Stahl continued nibbling on his food, subtly peering over his shoulder to hear what on earth Validar was still rambling on about.

“Breakfast?” He echoed, weighing this word carefully.

Do I want to help him? I mean, do I really? Then again, he is new… and it’s probably the right thing to do… but, ugh, but do I really have to - Oh!! But if I show him where it is, maybe I could get away with grabbing seconds. That might work…

And so, after much contemplation, Stahl slurped the last of his bacon and pleasantly shook his head. “Okay.”

And with little else to say, he made a sharp left and began walking towards the mess hall. Stahl made absolutely no attempt to signal Validar over but, entertaining himself, continued walking forward under the assumption that he was being followed.

Validar followed quickly behind, his robes fluttering as he jogged to catch up with the emerald clad paladin.

"Must you all be so difficult?" he muttered under his breath.

"You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?"

“All fates, eventually, turn terrible,” Soren’s gaze was steely as he looked over the sorcerer. “It’s hardly a surprise that mine would, as well.”

Validar grunted as the gale force chill assaulted him. He saw crystals forming on him, but he was not overly worried.

“Heh, I’ve felt colder winds in Ferox!” he bluffed as he pumped more of his magical power into the spell, trying to rend control of Soren’s body away from the man.

Gritting his teeth to work against whatever hellish headache magic was being cast on him, Soren pushed forth another torrent of spells, though far more haphazard than the ones he’d been casting before– less like a rolling blizzard, and more like gusts of varying power. A wilder wind, you could say.

“And I’ve no doubt that I’ve had worse headaches defeated by a cup of coffee,” replied Soren sarcastically, both acknowledging his foe’s capabilities and calling his bluff.

Validar fought against the howling winds, his focus remaining solely on crushing Soren's will. He put out more power, reaching half of his maximum output. The pain should be excruciating at this point.

"... Your will is weak, General. This will be your ultimate failing..."

Wendy had prepared herself. He was obviously a mage, so thank the lords that she can resist magic so well. Lugh and Raigh taught her slightly how but it was mostly from training. She tried to keep a good layer of paint inside her armor too as the kind she has doesn’t conduct electricity that well, of course electricity still hurt due to her wearing a TON of armor. Her armor was hard to melt but of course did it heat up if she got hit with Fire and it weighs so much wind spells don’t hurt it much. Barth and Bors tried to put paint inside their armor too but they got the wrong kind and it started to not only smell but it didn’t work so well. they had their hair sticking up all day. Wendy had Javelins and a Silver lance so she could get up close and deal good amounts of flesh damage and throw her javelin if he got too far. But still..she had a feeling. She was not in the mood to fight this time around and she never turns down a fight. Something was different this time.

Validar’s hands glowed with purplish energy. He grinned snidely, a chuckle escaping his lips. He raised his hands to the air, and from them spawned a hellish fog that enveloped Amelia Wendy. This fog permeated her very being, calling into her mind, compelling her to obey.

“Heed my call!”

Her resistance to magic had been made apparent to him through various instances of reconnaissance, but he was not over worried. His magic was stronger than most of the opponents she had faced recently. She would fall to him.

They always did.

Wendy could feel this hellish magic try to get into her head. It whispered commands and persuaded her to do them. However she ignored them. Soon out of the fog came a lance attached to a chain to flew towards Validar but missed a slight inch. to was pulled back into the fog and a click is heard. Soon another flew out it seemed to be the same lance and this time it pierce his magic tome and the book, along with the lance flew back into the fog. Wendy soon stepped out and pointed her lance towards the mage.. waiting for his next trick.

"Heheha!" he laughed, "You are a clever one. You stole my focusing device for that spell…" He laughed again, this time more sinisterly. "Too bad, too… perhaps a few wounds will make you more receptive to my magic?" He vanished, his voice coming from every shadow in the room.

"It is useless to resist…" The fog came back, permeating the entire room. "Heed my call, Wendy!"

"I feign wisdom? Hardly is it feigned. You on the other hand are a fool! Your life may have been hard but you still close yourself to those who can help you. I can tell you now I am no helpless child

“Your outrage bepeaks your infancy in regards of self control,” he snapped back, “And I do not turn away those who seek to aid me, as few and far between as they be! You really must do your research before attempting to insult someone so clearly out of your league… power-wise, in the very least.”

Nagi laughs. “You are a fool. From the start you tried to intimidate me. Now that I fight back even with worlds you attempt to try and belittle me. Head my warning “child” do not test me. ”

Nagi flashes a smile revealing fangs for a moment. ” you know nothing of the power I control.”

“And you,” he started, showing a similar set of fangs, “do not know the power I control.” The palm of his hand darkened as black magic energy coalesced in it. He raised the hand quickly, enacting his Domination spell over the Manakete. Soon, she would be his puppet, and she would know true fear.

She stares at the man. It was obvious that he was not going to give up. Nagi knew that it was now going to be a fight and it would not be one she would lose.

“You want to fight I will fight and not hold back!”

“Hmph,” he said, raising his hand and allowing the compelling magic to wash over her. He watched as she became shrouded in a purple mist, his Domination spell entering her mind and assaulting her senses. Soon, she would be a zombie, his to control. He smirked vilely and only uttered one phrase.

“Heed my call!”

Nagi looks as the purple Mist surrounds her. She hears the voice trying to command her but she resists. ‘I will not fall to you!”

“You shall…” he said simply, pumping a bit more power into the spell, “Sooner or later, you will fall… like they all do.”

Nagi can feel the increase in his attack. The voice growing a little louder. This was not something that she was enjoying. This man was something else but she would not bow down to him.

“I..bow..to.. No one!”

“You bow before your master!” he called, pumping even more mana into the spell. This was where things became difficult. The mana expenditure might irreparably damage him if sustained for too long a period. On the same note, it added more intensity to his spell, making the compulsion harder to resist. He had to break her quickly.

“No! I refuse!” Nagi could feel the strength of the spell increase. However she was not going to be bested by this strange man. Whoever he got his power from was strong but the manaket would not go down without a fight.“

“You are not my master!”

“I AM!” he roared, pushing himself to his outermost limits. He would not be bested by the divine bratling! The commands and sensations screamed into her mind and body. If she did not break soon, he would.

"No you are not!” Nagi screams and pushes her own power towards the man. She would not be beaten. His attacks were making her weak but she had to fight she refused to lose.

"Nrrraaahh!" he screamed, his breaking point nearing. He could not fight for too much longer. Beads of sweat rolled down his face. His eyes, already crimson, took on a bloodshot hue around the irises. His body was trembling somewhat. He had to win. It was a matter of principle at this point.

"I'm not asking for you to talk, Lady Tiki…"

“Then what are you asking for, Validar… Your intentions are skewed regardless, but you are not making them clear either…”

"I'm asking for you to listen," he explained, "You must open your ears if you wish to be a true peacemaker."

Majin's Betrayal (I love this idea, but I don't want any of my characters to have double threads going with Vali at the same time, so it's just gonna be Gregor xD)

Validar chuckled darkly, an Arcthunder tome sparking in his hand. In the other lay the throat of Gregor, which was in the process of being scorched by the voltage. The mark of Grima, a now foreign object to the sorcerer, lay emblazoned upon his forehead, where it throbbed with a crimson light.

“Any last words, mercenary?” growled the grey Plegian as he let up on his assault.

Gregor gasped for air, completely baffled by the scrawny man’s strength. In the jolting pain of the Arcthunder, Gregor had dropped his blade. It lay upon the ground, and Gregor was utterly helpless in Validar’s grip. He managed to speak a few words…

“Validar… Plegian… bastard… Why!? Gregor… Gregor was… trusting you!” He wriggled, trying to break free of Validar’s grip, but the man was simply too strong. What was going on!?“

“Hehehe… HEHAHAHAHAHA!” he cackled, the symbol on his forehead pulsing even harder. The dark lines under his eyes lent themselves to darkening his already morbid expression.

“My eyes have been opened once more! Grima has come to me, and he has shown me the true path! Your life will be the first to be given in Grima’s name!”

“Gregor is not thinking so!” he boasted.

When Validar laughed, his grip had loosened just enough for Gregor to regain some control of his body. He swung his legs forcefully into Validar’s torso, kicking him backwards. Gregor landed hard on his back, desperately grabbing the sword at his side. His trusty Killer Blade, the very same on used to explore the northern temple with Libra and Nowi, would be his only hope once more. The man knew he didn’t have time to stumble to his feet, so he remained sitting and pointed his blade in Validar’s direction.

“Gregor knows you are being good dancer, Validar. Now we are dancing Dance of Death!” He whipped the tip of his blade around threateningly.

"You arrogant bastard!" he cried, letting loose a quick volley of lightning strikes at Gregor. He followed this by teleporting out of sight, blending with the shadows.

"Feel the wrath of the Grimleal!" came a voice from all corners of the room. It was Validar's, yet… not. It was tinged with a darkness not seen even when the Plegian was king.

“Now… strike a dramatic pose,” came the next compulsion. He purposefully steered his mind away from the usual command he gave to his thralls: Kill. He knew that would get him nowhere good in a hurry.

Miriel did as she was commanded, splaying one foot to the side and holding the other in a steady crouch. She threw one hand forward and the other to the wind. It was a stance that showed a warrior clearly ready to battle. Either that, or she just got a new weapon…

Validar had to hold back a chuckle. The pose was absolutely ridiculous! Still, he wrote down some observations. He had shown his control over her voice and body. Now to test the thaumaturgy control.

“Electrify that metal rod over there,” he thought, sending the command her way.

Miriel’s spectacles shone upon the command. She silently marched over to her desk and snatched a basic Thunder tome. Whirling around with more style than usual, she launched a wicked lightning bolt at her target, striking it directly. The electric current traveled through the pole and into the ground before dispersing harmlessly. When finished, Miriel dropped the tome onto the floor.

Validar wrote this down, then decided that enough was enough. He released his grip upon the woman’s consciousness. Immediately, color began returning to Miriel’s skin and eyes, and she lost her zombie like stature. The mist propelled itself from her body, dissipating like steam as it hit the afternoon air.

When Miriel regained her senses, she felt incredibly dizzy and faint. She wobbled a bit, before falling backwards onto the floor. She landed on her rump and grabbed her head. Her head felt as if it were going to bust in two… After a few moments, she regained enough composure to speak to the sorcerer.

“Th-thank you, Sir Validar. I… don’t believe further testing will be necessary.” The woman wobbled to her feet. If I may have my notebook, I wish to document my findings and work out a conclusion. I must say, your magic is… more powerful than I had ever imagined. It is truly a wonder that the Shepherds were able to defeat you.“ Miriel occasionally stumbled about, desperately trying to not fall down again.

“You had strength in numbers,” he said, extending a helping hand to the shaky Mage, “and besides, keeping up that spell on a single being requires much concentration. I could never spread my influence over enough enemies for it to turn the tide of battle. Even moreso, a strong enough will it a high enough magical resistance could aid in the throwing off of the spell.”

Miriel, once more cool and collected, considered this. “Strong will or magical resistance…” Lord Chrom’s Resistance was as gods awful as his heart was brave. Surely we was saved only by his will. “Did you ever try to control Lady Emmeryn? Surely she would have given you considerable influence over Ylisse.” Miriel realized how suspicious these questions sounded. “‘Tis merely a hypothetical.”

"You know not of the true Emmeryn, do you?" he pondered, "The woman had a will stronger than Naga herself. I tried to breach her on several occasions, but found myself being counterattacked. It was all I could do to escape with my mind intact. Why do you think the assassination order went out?"

College

51. We keep running into each other while skipping that class each of us hate

Hector hated any subject that had to do with numbers, that was a known fact. It was also known that he was a common skipper of his numbers class. That, or he spent the time sleeping instead of learning. That’s probably why he’s failing the course.

And of course, let’s just take the phrase ‘running into’ quite literally. The Ostian had sworn he’d seen the familiar red hair of his roommate as he avoided his class. Said roommate would have a fit and lecture Hector if he caught him skipping the class again, so he did was seemed plausible and whipped around the corner, colliding with a certain Plegian.

“Oh hell!” He muttered angrily to himself. Eliwood also wasn’t there to reprimand him for his language either. The guy was way too much of a goody-two-shoes and acted like Hector’s mother sometimes.

“Ach, don’t worry about it,” the Plegian said as he dusted himself off, “Skipping that numbers class again?” He, himself, had decided against going to his philosophy class. The subject, he thought, was interesting, but the teacher made it feel as though he was being subjected to the most hideous form of torture.

‘Yeah,” Hector replied with a sigh. Was he really that easy to read? Well, probably. His numbers course was the only thing he hated enough to skip. “And you with your…” He trailed off, trying to remember what the older Plegian had been skipping every time they met up. He’d mentioned it once.. Was it Physics? No, it wasn’t that. Psychology maybe? No, not that either- Wait, it was Philosophy! That’s what it was!

Continuing his sentence, he added, ‘And your Philosophy class again?”
