happy pride month here’s some gender 💚🎞️🎱🥩🔌⛓️🩸🌈🪱🧛♂️💖🎥
Rocky Horror is such a funny movie. It really said two republicans shouldn't be allowed to get married without consequences. And the consequences are gay thoughts.
Batman comics should be more political. Bruce should run for mayor and go against Billionaires at day as Bruce and against them as Batman by night.
It’s crazy how both Superman and Batman are barely allowed to interact with the political reality in their main universe comics.
Some people online see the fact that Bruce is a billionaire who doesn’t kill the joker as a problem and not as a storytelling opportunity. In my opinion the existence of Batman in comics just shows how corrupt the system really is. I mean think about it of a Billionaire has to dress up like a bat to try and help then what does that say about the system he operates in?
Fo me personally it would be a lot more interesting to read about that than writers taking away his money or killing joker.
Does anyone remember Batman White Knight confirming that Joker is in love and obsessed with Batman in that universe and then the second he gets on medication and is "healed" from his mental illness he gets together with Harley?
We don’t actually talk about how homophobic that was.
Not because Joker couldn’t be Bi. But because getting healed cured him from his same sex attraction.
Matt Fraction has described the dynamic between Batman and the Joker as akin to Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter
Honestly, this is a natural evolution of these two characters. There have been Batman writers in the past who implied that Joker was/is in love with Batman. It has become a very popular interpretation amongst writers ever since the Snyder run. I just think we might be moving into a direction where writers are actually exploring the complexity of this dynamic. And using the Will/Hannibal dynamic as a basis for this new era is not a bad idea. It might give writers the chance to explore more interesting ideas about these two characters and allow Joker to evolve into a new version of himself.

you know the funny thing is that both the David (2025) movie and Chief of War TV show kind of struggle with the same issue, for telling origin stories for legendary kings that involve prophecy and relationship to the supernatural as well as a succession conflict against a "false" chosen one. (King Saul for David, Kahekili and Keoua for Kamehameha)
Both David and Kamehameha are signaled to the modern audience as worthy kings in ways that downplay their violent warrior aspects (David, famously who is sung as having "slain ten thousand") in favor of their peaceful/religious/husbandry-and-agricultural skills. Kamehameha is a planner who builds food storage rather than attack, David shepherds and rescues people from burning buildings, all in contrast to their rivals who are shown as mad and unreasonably violent. It's a good thematic shorthand for the narrative but also makes for some simplified characters, especially when compared to original legend and history.
Just a thought I had right now, about the struggles with telling such stories for a modern audience that try to maintain a sense of reverence while balancing that admiration and truth in storyteling
Finished the Night Manager Season two.
All I will say is that using Columbia as a set dressing, making almost every brown character a bad person and shooting the one Gay character who is also brown this show has to further the storyline of white characters after establishing that his white father only views him as a dog definitely was a really bad choice.
the single queer, latino, religious character, trying to redeem himself.
and also killed the “good” latine characters. roxana does not count, she admitted it herself.
i love this series but i hated watching this all happen, yes. the news on the radio made me nauseous.
Agree it was just a weird decision. They really decided to throw away their most interesting new character to make space for Roper.

Finally the Night Manager is bringing the plot point we all wanted to see in spy fiction: Male spies having to seduce gay villains
on my third fucking rewatch of black sails i have been reminded that charles vane speaks spanish ???!?!!??!?!?!
Once the stranger things situation has calmed down I think it's time to discuss how marketing is using the promise of queerness to get women and gay people interested in their shows. Because one of the reasons why Bylers think that there was a chance of it going canon is because there were interactions between fans and the writers on social media that made them believe in the possibility. Instead of making fun of them, we need to actually examine what the actual fuck is going on here. Because this is not the first time this has happened. Destiel was very similar. And if marketing for shows will use the promise of same sex relationships to literally bait people into watching their shows and actively creates parasocial relationships with shippers, then this is not a good direction fandom is evolving into. It's sickening how far these corporations will go. We need to actually start to be aware of how fandom is used to the advantage of big corporations. This is a new level of queerbaiting.
