So, I know you said that you don't really believe or need religion but is there any part of you that believes that there is a higher power? I believe in Jesus Christ and that He died on the cross for our sins. We deserve hell and yet the Son on God was sent to earth to be humbled and die for everything wrong we have ever done and ever will do. We need a savior. I encourage you to think about things and what the Bible has to say about it. Please reflect on it and examine your faith. I am praying.
I’m sorry that my faith doesn’t mirror or even resemble yours. I spent years in Christian and Catholic school, I have read the bible, I’ve gone on religious retreats, I have been to church many many times. I’ve talked with people who are many different faiths, of different cultures and lifestyles. I enjoy discussions.
However, it’s very rarely been a discussion with Christians, instead it’s this odd combination of pity and guilt on their side. Specifically one of my issues with following Jesus Christ is that I’ve had hundreds of people over the years tell me that I was wrong, and that Jesus died for me, and that the Bible will lead me to a happier, more fulfilling life, and honestly that you have deemed me so wrong is very un-christian, in my understanding.
Allow me to live my life where I try my hardest to not make mistakes that hurt others, and the mistakes I do make do not get repeated. I give when able, and try to help anyone I see who needs it. I think self forgiveness, self awareness, and trying to be better for yourself and those who love you is much more tangible than someone else telling me that Jesus loves me.
I don’t need faith to tell me to help an elderly woman with her groceries. Or to give money to someone in need I cannot help. I didn’t need faith to spur me to live a life of helping care for rescue animals, I didn’t need faith to tell me help my neighbor in need, or to help care for the ill. I didn’t need faith to tell me to be respectful of the faithful people I went to school with.
Instead of praying for me, please pray for those in your faith who use their faith and Jesus Christ as a means to do despicable things, who are not kind except when they step into church functions, or socialize within their church.
I’d like to think that I’m a good person. One of the reasons I do is because I’d like to respect everyone’s faith, and I do not try to persuade anyone to be or practice anything but compassion, kindness, empathy, to give and help when you can, and to allow everyone to live their lives as they would like as long as it doesn’t harm a living soul.
I’m sorry if this came off a bit gruff, but you and your fellow Christian’s pushing of your faith on me is aggressive.
