can people stop talking like BPD is some obsessive yandere scary gf? I don't know what made this disorder so well known on the Internet, but due to stereotypes, there are many women self diagnosing themselves as one. I am not joking. Some people even made their love interest as women with this disorder, and some even sexualize it. I got bipolar type 1 and borderline. Some disorders are connected to each other. You may think you are BPD, but you may just have an identical crisis, loneliness, depression. Or you may have another disorder. You, your friends, a therapist can never say what you are. Consult a psychiatrist and BE HONEST with them. Because it's annoying and disrespectful how many undiagnosed ppl spreading around acting like they are diagnosed

As someone diagnosed with both Borderline Personality Disorder and Major Depressive Disorder (psychotic features), I know firsthand that self-diagnosing causes far more damage than good.

It is easy to romanticize these conditions from the outside, but you should never desire a hell you know nothing about.

Many disorders share overlapping symptoms, and environmental stressors, life events, or hormonal shifts can heavily influence your thoughts and emotions without meaning you have a chronic mental illness.

Self-diagnosing does not help you or the people around you. To get actual, effective support, you must consult a PROFESSIONAL. Online quizzes, search engines, and general physicians are not enough; you need to speak directly with a psychiatrist.

While many of us grew up with parents who could not or would not get us assessed, that past barrier is NOT an excuse to self-diagnose, romanticize, or fetishize illnesses that deeply affect real people.

Google, ChatGPT, TikTok, Instagram, and friends are not doctors, and Tumblr is certainly NOT a doctor.

— Remember, there is no cure for Borderline Personality Disorder; you cannot simply take off a mask at the end of the day and choose a new one, because those of us who actually live with it are stuck with it and must cope for the rest of our lives.
