Curse - Jegulus - @jeggyverses-jegulus-microfic - word count: 355
Daily fics are back! January was nuts and I had some bigger WIPs I had to focus on first and so I didn't quite have the spoons for dailies as well. But, it's February and I'm feeling good, so let's gooooooo...
Regulus had fought his whole life not to fall foul to the Black family madness.
A curse placed on his family millennia ago when all of the purest of blood houses decided to keep their gene pool as shallow as possible.
But fall he had. It was the only logical explanation for what was happening to him.
Movement next to him made him jump slightly, but the sleeping man didn't wake fully as an arm snaked across the bed and was draped over Regulus’ waist.
Regulus took a couple calming breaths as he watched the beautiful man sleeping.
“You're staring, love,” James muttered in his sleepy state. His eyes were still closed, but a small smirk pulled the corner of his mouth up.
Regulus sighed, but James pulled him into his body. Rolling Regulus slightly so they were facing each other. James opened his eyes a fraction and Regulus caught a glimpse of hazel.
“What’s on your mind, sweetheart?” James asked earnestly.
Regulus took another breath. “Oh, nothing, just realising how cursed I truly am.” The laugh was more sarcastic than he had intended, not as light.
“I've realised that after all these years and leaving them all behind, I've still, finally, succumbed to the Black family madness.” Regulus forced his face into a look of sad acceptance at his fate.
James’ face pinched slightly. “Baby, what are you talking about? You're not mad.”
“I must be, it's the only explanation.”
“Agreeing to marry James Bloody Potter, of course.” Regulus smirked.
James rolled them over, pinning Regulus under him, a smirk also plastered on his face.
“I see. Is there any cure? Something I can help with maybe?”
“I fear it's too late!” Regulus dramatically put the back of his hand to his forehead.
“Well, damn. If I can't help cure it, perhaps I can keep it…satiated?” James cocked an eyebrow, before slowly moving down Regulus’ body.
Regulus grinned widely and flicked the bedroom lamp on.
He wanted to see just how the light hit the new onyx ring on his finger as it was buried into James’ beautiful curls.
