Greta rolled her eyes fondly, listening to him speak, “I’ve been alright, just getting back in the swing of things- I guess. Did you do anything fun over the summer?”

“I guess the answer is yes,” she said, unable to stop the small laugh that passed her lips. “What’s up?”

    “ how are you feeling today?” the blonde asked as she took a seat right besides the other on her bed- she has been reading all morning and couldn’t help but notice how off Greta seemed, with a sigh she wrapped an arm around  her friend’s shoulders. “ want some chocolate to cheer you up?”

“A little better,” she said, offering her roommate a half smile. She let her head rest against Andromeda, sighing a little, “No, I’m okay. I think I’m going to go get some tea in a minute if you want to come.”

his entire demeanor shifted in greta’s presence, causing the ruffled gryffindor to begrudgingly comply to her request, allowing her to guide him to the courtyard. he immediately shut his eyes, taking in the outside air to try & snuff the frustration & anger. this wasn’t the way this year was supposed to go — but nothing seemed to go the way it was expected, did it ? ‘ sorry … ’ the gryffindor muttered, avoiding making any eye contact with his “ girlfriend ”.  ‘ just … it’s fuckin’ ridiculous … ’ he kicked the dirt in front of him, sending a couple stones flying. 

Once they were outside Greta let go of Marcus’ arm. Instead, she let her hands trace circles over his back, trying to be soothing. “They’re just naive,” she said softly, looking up at him, “It will pass, I promise.”

“Greta?” James asked as he saw the familiar girl sitting on top of the astronomy tower. “Did you decide that today would be a good day to look at the stars?” he asked as he sat down next to her. “I was looking for you earlier and I couldn’t find you. Did you forget that we were meeting up?” 

“No, I just- don’t feel good, and I needed some fresh air,” she looked down, wringing her hands. She didn’t really want to talk about what was wrong, but she couldn’t exactly pretend that everything was alright either. “Sorry I, uh, should have said something instead of just ditching.”

Sometimes the dorms could feel overwhelming to Greta, especially when she got too wrapped up in her own thoughts. She felt irritable and claustrophobic and though she knew she wasn’t allowed out past curfew, she made the trip anyway. A trip up to the Astronomy Tower often cleared her head, and if nothing else it would allow her some fresh air. She barely looked up as she heard footsteps, ready to accept whatever consequence was coming her way.

he tried to keep to the opposite side of the crowd — whispers & suspicious glares following his every move. & why wouldn’t they ? ‘ yeah, didn’t ‘ye hear ? ‘m a fuckin’ murderer ! ’ marcus feigned as a group of young students walked past, & he couldn’t help but laugh as they picked up their pace significantly — as if he could explode at any moment. 

Greta watched Marcus carefully, rushing to his side as discreetly as she could. A gentle hand rested on his arm as she steered him away from the other students, trying to avoid a scene, “C’mon, let’s go get some fresh air.”

regulus turned his head at greta, not fully taking notice of what she was saying. when he finally realized, he nodded his head, his eyes on the hufflepuff once more. “she’s right, there’s honestly no other way to do it.” he leaned closer to whisper in the ravenclaw’s ear. “you are a lifesaver.”

Greta watched as the girl nodded eagerly and ran off, chuckling, “Aw, Reg, don’t you remember being that young and excited to just be invited? It wasn’t so long ago.”

evan realized she could see the thestrals just like he could, which meant she had also seen a terrible thing happen before. he stayed quiet for a moment before he finally replied to her. “they have each other, i suppose that makes up for not being able to be seen by most.” he turned his head slightly, sneaking a small glance at greta before looking back at the thestral in front of him.

“I guess you’re right,” she continued to pet the thestral, reaching out to pet another with her other hand. She felt bad if she devoted too much attention to one, though she was secretly grateful to have someone else here to help ensure they all got some attention. She swallowed, coming out here was usually enough to bring her to tears, but the last thing she wanted to do was break down in front of this stranger, “I’m Greta, by the way. I think I’ve seen you around the castle.”
