We are watching the US gut Cuba. So here are a few things to keep in mind while the world does nothing but watch on as this unfolds:
-This is not the fault of the Cuban government. Their hands were tied, they made the only possible decision in an impossible situation. Just like with Venezuela; this is not a betrayal from the government. Their people are being deliberately starved, terrorised- they had no other choice. Blaming them for this now will do no good.
-The improvement coming from lifting sanctions will be very short-lived. If this was really about ''helping'' or even ''saving'' the Cuban people, they would not simply flip a switch on the economic system. This shock therapy approach to changing an economic system destroys lives. These ''interventions'' ruin countries long term. To give an example with a direct non-intervention mirror to compare it to: 35 years later and East German families are still significantly poorer than West German ones. The true devastation this ''reform'' will bring, will only show its face, once the relief of the US so graciously lifting the sanctions (which they imposed in the first place) runs out. Give it some time, maybe months, maybe a few years even, and watch poverty in Cuba rise to numbers last seen over 60 years ago.
-This won't be the end of US terrorism on their tiny neighbour. The US won't be satisfied until every last part of the Cuban Revolution is crushed. They will keep putting pressure onto Cuba, until they get ''their'' holiday resort back. This won't be over until either Cuba gets the weaponry necessary to become a threat not worth engaging in or until the US can install another Batista.
-We must not give up on Cuba now. The fight is not over. The US is lashing out like this, because it is dying. They embarrassed themselves greatly in their war against Iran and they are losing global support for the atrocities they commit and support all across the Middle East- especially in Palestine and Lebanon. They must lash out now, because it is what a dying empire does. Cuba has not fallen under direct US rule yet and the US is falling apart at the seams. They must simply endure long enough to outlast it. And enduring against all odds is what Cuba has been exceptionally good at. The more outside support they get in this, the higher their chances are of overcoming this. -> We must not give up on them now. By acting like Cuba has already fallen- or is already beyond saving- we are only fueling the US and its accomplices. Put pressure onto your governments to support Cuba. If they will not listen, force them to. May the Empire fall before Cuba must.
