The boy stopped in his tracks, looking back at Jiyeon confused, but also surprised. Though she had no bad intentions, and he was convinced that this was true, it did fuel a little bit of insecurity. Was she simply trying to be friendly, or did she actually care about him? Or was there perhaps some other reason behind her acts of kindness..? No, that couldn’t be, he didn’t want to believe that.
Despite this feeling of frustration, that was slowly mixing into the uncertainty, he couldn’t help but notice the light feeling in his chest as she told him this would make her happy. Why was this making her happy? Talking to somebody like him.. This little thought caused him to bite down on his lips a little, contemplating on whether to stay or not. He didn’t wish to bother her or occupy her even if she’d have something better to do. Damn. But.. Listening to her talk about whatever, or just quietly sitting next to her.. That’d already be good enough for him at the moment.
He thought about her offer, staying silent for a little while until his shoulders dropped down in defeat. Yeah, no. He didn’t want to leave, but thought it might be better for her. But.. if she was offering this, then.. It must be okay, right?
“ … No, it doesn’t sound boring to me. ”He huffed lightly as the tiniest of smile started curving his lips. “ Alright.. Fine by me. I’ll stay.” Once again, Saeran turned around to sit down at the same spot than before, just waiting for Jiyeon to sit again next to him.
“ .. Hey.. Tell me something about yourself. Anything would be fine. ”
Jiyeon hummed curiously as she situated herself comfortably next to him once again. “About me?” she muttered, tilting her head back a little in thought, “I don’t know...” She wasn’t particularly used to talking about herself. It was really easy to sit back and just listen when it came to everyone in the RFA.
“Oh!” she started, “I think Saeyoung’s the only one who really knows this, but I used to work at a convenience store.” Jiyeon chuckled a little at the thought. It was crazy how far she had come since then. “I actually didn’t let the job go for that first week I was in the RFA and I had this huge fear that one of the members was going to walk in and recognize me, even though no one actually knew what I looked like.”
She found herself twiddling with her fingers, rubbing the center of her palm with her opposing thumb. “But at the same time, I was obsessed with the idea, but I think if it had really happened, they wouldn’t have known it was me and I would’ve ended up stupidly upset about it.” Jiyeon laughed, but there was a sort of bittersweetness to it. “Not that it matters anymore, though.”
“And then, I guess... before that, I was going to university, but I didn’t end up getting a degree, just because I couldn’t really decide what I wanted to do.” She quickly jumped to explain, “Not that I didn’t try to figure it out! I sort of bounced around between different things and nothing ever really clicked for me, you know?”
