Golden stayed outside of the room, already feeling like he wore out his welcome, even though this was his own hideout. He kept his expression rather neutral when his brother looked his way. He figured heâd save the questions later when Ludger was in better shape.Â
Though the fact that Alvin did try to target Jude didnât exactly sit well with him, that means Jude had to report this to his boss. And Natarov had to inform his boss.
Lovely. How was he gonna explain all this to Gaius? He was already in bad terms with Karmic Sense for more than one reason. Though he wasnât ready to tell Jude that was his mind set for the time beingâŚthe younger had enough to worry about.Â
âLetâs have a look at your arms⌠Iâll try to find a proper vein.â He didnât want to make the other uncomfortable more than he already was. He witnessed enough what they did to Lin. Jude spared a glance at the brunette that he did intend that punch for, making a small huff, âAlvin.â Sure heâll acknowledge that he was being thanked, but he would have words with the other later when he was done treating the patient.Â
Doctor Mathis, Mister Kresnikâs diagnosis is complete, his vitals are stable, though sustenance is recommended for the patient.Â
Jude looked over his shoulder to see Golden spared a glance at the ceiling before taking steps away. He didnât need to ask where he was going, the other was probably going to work on that sustenance part, though he shouted after the other, âAnd put out that cigarette, Golden!â
There was a disgruntled groan from the hacker as he retreated. Jude directed his attention back to Ludger, mumbling to himself, âYouâd think heâd be more careful with his health with his artificial organs.â Â
Ludger obediently held out both arms for the doctor to look over. Though his expression shifted slightly when he heard Dr. Mathis mention artificial organs. That was something new - though he supposed now wasnât the time to really be thinking about that. If Golden hadnât mentioned it - it was probably something he wanted to keep on the down low.Â
But Ludger was distracted by something far closer to him - the awkwardness between Alvin and Dr. Mathis. Even with the circumstances being dire, Alvin was usually pretty sociable. The fact that heâd only nodded and said the doctorâs name gave Ludger the idea that there was possibly less-than-pleasant history there.
But againâŚthis didnât really seem like the time to bring it up.
It seemed odd, but their awkwardness was helping Ludger focus on something other than his anxiety regarding medical things.Â
âHow long am I going to be bed-bound?â Ludgerâs voice was soft when he spoke. He hated being stuck in one place, especially when he was unable to really get around.
Alvin was going to make some smart remark about Golden smoking in his own home, but cut it short when he heard the commentary about his organs. Artificial? Why would Alfred have artificial organs? While they werenât necessarily rare in this day and age, they were pricey, and someone who had reneged on the family fortune probably shouldnât be able to afford such an operation.
The reason he had gotten them seemed easy enough to guess; the explosion, his apparent death. That would be hard to get out of without rupturing a spleen or two. But the question remained of how he got from point A to point B.
Questions he could ask later. Just then, Ludger took priority.
âHowever long it is, Iâll stay, okay? You donât have to worry about that.â
