Chapter 5: "The Jungle"

The sun had finally emerged in all its glory, sailing high above the forest on its journey across the cloudless sky. Light split open the lattice of branches to uncover a resplendent world beneath. The woods teemed with life in every direction: the perfect conditions for dispelling darkness in all its forms.

Still, it did little to cut through the jungle inside Warriors’s head.

He plodded through the dense Faron Woods, keeping pace behind Sky and Zelda. The two Skyloftians walked abreast on the trail, following a route known only to them. They were gabbing away about a mishmash of topics, smiley and spirited and brimming with good humor. But Warriors couldn’t keep up with any of it. Arcs of fire kept shooting through his midsection, partially relieved by the ice rod strapped to his hip. With his friends paving the way to the spring, his mind was freed up to its own devices, sorting through the noxious weeds entangling his sensibilities.

Darkness must not taint these hallowed grounds.

The voice bounced around inside his skull until it became thoroughly lodged in the snarl of weeds. He turned it over, picked it apart, parsing its every word.

This was disturbing.

I am a huge fan of Turtle's work and Linked Universe fics. Naturally, I drew fanart. I kept thinking back to chapter 5 so I had to draw something <3

YASMEEN. This is much too cute and kind to be legal!!! How do you always know exactly how to switch on the waterworks and leave me in a big, sloppy mess?? 😭💖 This little doodle is infused with so much life that it gives ME life — the blooms of pink around the love-struck Sky and Zelda, the bursts of light from the ice rod and the fairy!! I'm obsessed with the captain's "suffering" eyes, and also the soft look on his face as he thanks the little fairy on his finger 🥹 Your artwork is everything, thank you so much for such a gift, my friend! It'll be a while until I recover from this. brb crying.

Please give Yasmeen's blog some love if you haven't already! She's in the middle of developing an incredible fantasy comic based off the Paleolithic era that she's poured her heart and a stunning amount of research into. Her art is so emotive and detailed, and I'm already so hooked on all the teases she's dropped for it. (Not to mention the vast library of beautiful Legend of Zelda artwork [and more!] that she shares!) Her art is legendary!!

It is very important to me that everyone knows that, while Vio was the first color to care for Shadow, if you were to split Forge during his time with Shadow post-FSA, Vio would have been the last to fall in love. As for the first color to fall in love… it would be unfair to not say Red, right?

Inspired by this heartbreaking art by ghosthoard!!!

When I started to like the idea of Wind being on HW post-LU I liked to imagine him being the same age as Wars but being a more experienced hero. He went from the youngest brother to the oldest and of course, that's something he takes advantage of xD

Wind being the tallest of all of the heroes when he grows up my beloved.

On HW he wears his green tunic so I gave him a sailor shirt and a green vest. He repurposed the green hat but also his blue tunic so now he makes reference to his green tunic and keeps wearing his blue one. Also his hair is inspired on his hair on WW, have you seen how long his hair is without the hat???

Wind teased Mask so much and I know he's the one he teased the most xD Mask almost never annoyed Tune. Tune always knew how to deal with Mask and that made him mad, besides, the captain made more reactions xD

Why not a character sheet for Shane too, to compliment the one I did for my farmer Nell

Some of this is canon, most of it is headcanon for sure. And I tend to simplify Shane a lot more in my comic, but think of this as the baseline for what he looks like in my style ✌️
