It's been a super long, struggley while, but I have now modelled and rigged my Sleazy Fly Guy (see previous posts for concept art). Goody, Blender is so much fun to work with. Or absolutely infuriating. Idk those go hand in hand, really. I'll just do a simple breathing animation and move on to the next character!

Animated fan-art of a sequence from The Mage-Fire War fantasy book by L.E Modesitt Jr. It immediately brought vivid images to mind and for some reason my brain went "hey wouldn't it be fun and totally not stupid to commit to it?". Anyway it was my first time experimenting with impact frames and I'm quite happy with those silly horse faces actually!

Here's the finished 3d still scene. I know I said I would post WIPs, but with 3d the progress is so incremental that it's tempting to do, you know, just the next little thing. Here's another earlier WIP and the 2d version as a reminder and yeah, I know, I didn't quite capture it! Not there yet, but I still learned a lot. Also, here's the midi version of the song it illustrates, which I am in the middle of recording.

Celeste fan art from last year. It's my eternal shame that I learned the whole any% speedrun with sub 30min strats and just never did a full game run :) My wrists were starting to suffer from all that awesome movement.

Final painted concept and start of the 3d work. low-ish poly model and subdivided (artificially smoothed) version. There was a bit of a texture incident and though I'm here for it, I'm still going to fix it :)

I'll probably have my hands full of Blender at least till the middle of next week. I intend to keep posting the WIP.

Still WIP, I want to paint it into a more atmospheric render before I move on to the 3d version.
