Lying in bed beside him, their legs entangled with the sheets and with one another, she arches her back catlike and lifts her arms to execute an incredibly luxurious stretch.

This is always the best part of the morning, as far as she’s concerned: not the few hours she spends at the beach before dawn, but these stolen moments spent with him just after her morning rounds and before he’s alert enough to hear her report.

It is far and away from the first time he’s asked. The insecurity seems to live not too far below the surface, though he rarely allows it to bubble up far enough to issue at his lips.

Plumeria rolls over to press up flush against his side, yanking him nearer to her with a well-placed arm and leg both hooked around his torso. Before she gives him a proper answer she buries her face into the crook of his neck, lightly taking his skin between her teeth ——— but without biting down, as might a she-wolf demonstrating a little possessiveness over her mate.
