Gwen stood in her room, still watching Peter with an expression that mixed relief and lingering worry. She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself as the adrenaline from the encounter slowly wore off. She couldn't shake the image of him fighting off those vampires, protecting her at such personal risk. âYou couldâve gotten yourself seriously hurt⊠or worse.â Her voice softened, concern evident as she looked him over, scanning for any signs of injury. "And now youâre leaning against the wall like itâs the only thing keeping you upright,â she said with rising concern. âIâm⊠okay,â she finally replied to his question, forcing a small smile despite the weight of the situation. âJust a little shaken up, you know? But you⊠youâre the one who needs to be careful.â She stepped closer, closing the distance between them, her eyes searching his for any sign of pain. âSeriously, letâs sit down. We need to make sure youâre not bleeding out.â She reached out, gently touching his arm, hoping it would reassure him. "This must be the most crazy night I ever had. Peter, vampires are real! How is that even possible. They are just characters from stories that are being used for Halloween. They are not supposed to be real! And you......" she paused, searching for his eyes once more. ".... what are you?" @localwebslingers
The soft huff that left him at the worry was gentle and Peter kept himself from stating that he'd had worse. Which he had, more than once at that. Taking on four fledgling vampires at once though was definitely high on his list of bad ideas. His aunt and the rest of his small, mixed pack were going to give him an earful when they found out about this. Probably by the end of the night, before he even made it home. He just had to make sure that Gwen was going to be alright first. For the moment, that was listening to and letting her worry, and keeping some of his attention on the door and her window. Just in case.
Attention that shifted back to her as Gwen touched his arm and managed to shake his head, "I won't, they didn't bite me nearly enough for that." he was sore and he was tired from being outnumbered, sure. Just about anyone would be feeling it after a fight like that. Most of the bleeding had already clotted over though, and what hadn't was only because he kept moving and it wasn't able to seal properly yet.
Peter watched her and listened, wanting to giver her a chance to blurt out any confusion, or ramble any of the shock away, ask sixty different questions. Whatever she needed to do, he had time, and he wasn't exactly going anywhere fast either. When the inevitable question did come, there were a few ways he could answer it, and he shrugged a little, "Some people bite and drink blood, I run around on four legs howling at the full moon." he told her, carefully pushing off the wall to go and sit down, if nothing else then to keep her from looking quite so worried about him, "Just in case you're wondering, witches, goblins, imps, fae, and mermaids are also real." Peter paused and frowned slightly as he sat, "Not sure about Bigfoot or Mothman though..."

Gwen let out a long, shaky breath, absorbing Peterâs words while her mind tried to process it all. She barely registered the fact that she still had her hand on his arm, grounding herself in the feel of him, solid, real, despite the nearly surreal revelation.
"So⊠four legs, howling at the moon?â she asked, voice barely above a whisper before she broke into a nervous laugh. âYouâre actually serious, arenât you? Youâre⊠a werewolf.â The word sounded foreign and strange leaving her mouth, but as she looked at Peter, it made an odd kind of sense. She thought back to the hints heâd dropped, the occasional way heâd slip out of plans or vanish without explanation, his strange instincts and how he always seemed to know what was going on, even in the middle of the night.
But her shock didnât stem from fear, no, she was more worried about him now than ever. Seeing him bruised, bleeding, and visibly exhausted stirred up a new, fierce protectiveness within her. Even as he tried to downplay it, a frown etched itself onto her face, and she shook her head. âYouâre sitting here half-beaten up, Peter, and youâre still worrying about whether or not Iâm freaking out.â She let her hand fall, crossing her arms as she took a step back and tried to steady herself. âWhy⊠why didnât you tell me sooner?â
There was no anger in her tone, just a mix of worry and confusion. âI mean, I get it, itâs not like âHi, Iâm Peter Parker and Iâm a werewolfâ would come up naturally in conversation, but⊠this isnât something you should be dealing with alone.â Her eyes softened as she studied his face, and she took a tentative step closer, her voice almost a whisper. âI donât care what you are, Peter. Youâre still⊠you. Just⊠next time you go up against a horde of vampires, maybe donât go alone?â
She managed a small, worried smile, her tone turning slightly teasing. âAnd donât think that Iâm letting you go without patching up every last cut.â @localwebslingers
