“ who?”  it takes arthur a moment to realize who said ‘bastard’ she was talking about was, but then it suddenly hit him; she must’ve seen the same thing he’d seen on tv at the hospital earlier, of murray franklin making fun of his failed stand-up performance.  “ … oh,”  an almost embarrassed smile formed on his lips at the realization, shaking his head as if to brush it off while his arms came up to wrap around himself.  “ yeah- no, i… i’m fine,”  he lied, with a smile, attempting to hide what he was really feeling.  “ they, uh- actually invited me to come on the show, so…”  he told her with a small shrug. of course, he knew that they’d only invited him to make further fun of him. but at this point, it didn’t matter. nothing did.
