The Final Five meet Zac Efron!
Forget the gold medals - THIS will be Simoneâs highlight of the Olympics! :P
Please note that this petition has been up since prior to Mr. Trautwig's comments about adoption,... (1002 signatures on petition)
Al Trautwig is a complete idiot. Please consider signing this petition to remove him from his job commentating gymnastics on NBC. His ignorant and disrespectful comments have gone on for FAR too long. Enough is enough! #FireTrautwig
2016 American Cup: Maggie Nichols
She is very photogenic.
Lol her front foot in her leaps drives me crazy because her switch ring is terrific otherwise. Although Maria Kharenkova has a similar issue.
That front foot is so ridiculous and such an easy fix that it completely ruins her gymnastics for me, if Iâm honest. The only event I can stand her on is bars. I honestly wouldnât mind her beam work if she would just stop with the flexed foot, butâŠ
^Same! Itâs so frustrating!
WUARGH NOW I SEE IT AND I CANT UNSEE IT
As a ballet dancer, it drives me NUTS! Â Everything else about her switch ring is great so idk why she canât fix that.
2016 American Cup:Â Amy Tinkler
WERK! <3

Get To Know The Blogger- Gymnastics Edition
In light of the Olympics being next THIS year I decided that I would start a tag to get to know the blogger- gymnastics edition! Once you are tagged (even if you arenât feel free to do it anyways) fill out the questions and then tag 5-10 more people. If some questions donât apply to you just leave them blank :) (for example if you arenât a gymnast put N/A).
I was tagged by: no one, but I read @nanningbeeâs :)

Favorite Quad to Date: Iâve really only watched one full quad so far in my gym fandom (2009-2012), but I like this quad the best so far (2013-2016), so hopefully 2016 doesnât let me down!
Favorite Olympics: 2012
Favorite Worlds: Glasgow 2015
Most Disastrous Competition: Sydney 2000, hands down
Favorite Gymnast of All-time: WAG: I have to pick just ONE? Iâll go with Vanessa Atler but I could give 234348098 different answers to this question, MAG: Danell Leyva
Favorite Gymnast Currently Competing: Simone Biles and Eythora Thorsdottir
Met any gymnastics celebrities?: Sam Peszek and the entire UCLA 2011-2012 team, Miss Val, Chellsie Memmel, Kerri Strug, Shawn Johnson, Paul Hamm...and probably forgetting someone else that I met at the 2012 Olympic Trials :P
Favorite Event to Watch: uneven bars
Favorite Event as a Gymnast: In my brief rec gymnastics experience before I destroyed my body I enjoyed the beam and floor since I could actually do some skills on those two events :P

Iâd like to tag:
Consider yourself tagged if you read this and want to do it :)
I will never get tired of watching Shawnâs beam routines! That tumbling pass in the top image is my FAVORITE, EVER!

Thanks @papaliukin for making me feel old (and Iâm not THAT old :P Just a quarter-century or so...)
BRING ON 2016, aka Rio Year!
The marvelous Vanessa Atler
She was truly remarkable; one of my favorite gymnasts!
From Wikipedia: â A member of the U.S. national gymnastics team from the age of 12, Atler was one of the United States' most successful gymnasts as a junior in the late 1990s. Known for her explosive vaults, difficult tumbling skills and likable personality, she won or medaled in several important meets, and was considered to be one of the front-runners for the 2000 Olympics. However, injuries, coaching conflicts, gym changes, mental breakdowns and bulimia symptoms derailed her progress in 1999 and 2000, and after a poor showing at the 2000 Olympic Trials, she was controversially left off the Olympic team despite placing sixth overall. â
Iâve heard that she actually didnât want to be on the Olympic team and face all that pressure, so for her it was actually a relief not to make it. So sad that gymnasts (and no doubt other Olympic-level athletes) face so much pressure at such a young age! I canât imagine how tough it must be to be in their shoes! So much respect.
look at those huge f-ing eyesâŠ
I miss her!
Random thought⊠There will be no Gabby/Simone match up during the Olympic year (until possibly the olympics). I think that could be why they are both headlining these other events. It makes the Gabby/Simone showdown story way more interesting at the olympics.  Itâs less interesting if Simone is beating her all year long. Â
This is actually 100% valid
They have to compete against eachother at nationals and trials though, but then at least at nationals they can play the âamerican cup champ vs pac rim champâ card and then the âolympic champion vs world champâ card at trials
unless maggie beats gabby at american cup *dreams*
Iâm actually excited to see the Maggie/gabby showdown. I think itâll be a close one.
I agree. It should be a really good competition between the two. I do feel that Gabby has more upgrade potential though, but still could be interesting! I think Maggie already proved she shouldnât be counted out!
Is the list of Pac Rim attendees out? Iâm going since itâs happening approximately 10 miles from my house!
UCLA is like Romania in that theyâve both been kinda shitty with occasional flashes of brilliance for the bast several years but we keep including them in our list of best teams to watch out for.
LOL theyâre also becoming like Romania on bars. You have Peng and Nush who are good, then itâs a bit downhill from there.Â
Ucla is off my it list atm but their recruit list is hard to ignore. Romania has another year or two before they come off my list. Weâll see!!
I think UCLA is going to have another season on the struggle bus like the last few seasons, but everything could change starting next year when Miss Val finally gets her A+ recruits. I wouldnât be surprised if we start to see a resurgence after some years in a slump.Â
whoa whoa UCLA has Peng, Nush and Katelyn. I also wouldnât be surprised if Savvidou does well in the ncaa circuit on bars.Â
Well, last year they had Peng, Nush, and Peszek. Those three were definitely in a league of their own on the team and contributed most of the big scores on all events. Last season looked promising in the second half (after such a terrible first half), but alas they crumbled at nationals. Oh well, at least Peszek ended her career on a high note as an individual.Â
The 2017 UCLA team is going to DOMINATE so Iâm not too worried about whatever happens this year!Â
