Jousting Knight by Verdant Homewood Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds, Yorkshire.
June 27, 1985: During Princess Diana’s visit to the site of the Battle Of Bosworth Field, in Leicestershire, with Prince Charles to mark the 500th anniversary of the historic battle, where King Richard III lost his life in a bloody battle, on August 22nd 1485. Diana and Charles witnessed a re-enactment of the famous battle, that was the last in the ‘War Of The Roses’ when King Richard III’s armies were defeated by the might of Henry Tudor and his army. After a daring display of medieval jousting, Diana rushed to the side of fallen knight Edwin of Carrick, alias 20-year old Gordon Hall. As she bent over him to ask if he was alright she asked “Do you do this often?” to which he replied “Yes every weekend” With a wide grin Diana said “ You must be mad!"
