in hindsight, she had a point, although that didn't stop elijah from pushing himself the rest of the way into the bathroom with an arrogant grin on his face. “ babe, you left the door unlocked and it's my house. ” cockiness enhanced with each word, door closing behind him and body leaning against the sink. truthfully, he had been attempting to find his own safety, wanting to hide from the chaos that was ensuing beneath them and too fearful to attempt opening his bedroom door. a small, mental reminder to himself: don't get drunk enough to forget changing the sheets before bed. one could only imagine what was beginning to take place behind closed doors, which brought him back to the present, gaze cascading over iris in a slow manner, making sure they were aware rather than hiding it. “ tsk tsk tsk, smoking in the bathroom and not offering me to join? no one ever teach you manners? ”
his wandering eye hadn’t gone unnoticed. she didn’t shrink under it, subtle shift easing her out of her oh-so-unladylike slouch to sit up a bit straighter, legs drawing back. “ i would’ve, but you’ve been so busy playing host. ” playful lilt laced her retort, fed through an amused grin. “ what, your room still occupied ? ” still. as if she already knew. wasn’t like she sought elijah’s room out intentionally; it was pure coincidence that his just happened to be the one she was holed up in prior to the mildew ridden one. “ don't worry, got ran out before i could go full room raiders so your secrets are safe. ” lips sealed around the neglected joint, a languid drag finally taken. “ hate to be the bearer of bad news though, but at the rate your unwanted guests are probably goin’, you might be sleeping outside. ” it was like a hazed interpretation of the creation of adam that followed – iris leaning over, arm extending with the scorched offering pinched between fingers. she tilted her head, arched her brow. “ should’ve locked your door, babe. ”
"out of curiosity, what are the names of your suitors? i totally have zero nefarious plans for my rivals," he said cheerfully. his expression became serious... the same face he saw her making when she yapped about her conspiracy theories. "i... i have to tell you something. it's important." he lowered his voice, as if relaying confidential information. "my third eye saw them outside the house... looking for people with extraordinary abilities..." a shake of his head. "i can't say who ' them ' is referring to. but they're dangerous. you shouldn't be smoking that joint at this hour... you might become too powerful. and ' they ' will take you to their realm..."
his curiosity was met with a roll of her eyes and a scoff. “ riiiight, sure. ” the immediate shift could’ve been one penned in the guinness book of world records. doubt, she typically harbored when it came to reed's intel, was nowhere to be found. either he was gunning for an oscar with his performance or the effects of her beloved party favor were kicking in because she was soaking each word in like a sponge. trying to at least. “ slow down, slow the hell down. ” she pinched the bridge of her nose and handed the joint off to him, shaken by a sudden sense of paranoia. “ are we talkin' like ... extraterrestrials ? ”
" sorry, i didn't realize there was someone in here. " she admitted. it was true what she had said, especially since the door seemed to be unlocked and cracked open ever so slightly. " i wouldn't be so sure about that, people tend to lock the door whenever they do both of those things usually. " she teased, a small chuckle escaping her lips as a result. " my mom did when i was a kid, but we're in college, i didn't think manners mattered anymore. " she joked before then joining the other. " looking to enjoy that all by yourself? "
she got her there, iris would give her that. had it been some sort of horror film, that lock would’ve been the one small miss that would have had a packed theater collectively groaning at a character’s stupidity. luckily that wasn't the case here. a small laugh of her own, short-lived, fell from parted lips. “ i was planning on it, but, ” a slight tilt of her head, “ my mom always taught me that sharing’s caring. ” and with that, she passed the joint. “ how’re things out there ? any fists thrown yet ? ”
❝ aaaand now i have the image of you swapping spit with some random in that nasty ass bathtub burned into my brain, thanks, ❞ he scoffs in disbelief, only to chuckle right after. finding iris here, while an entire house party was going on, was so like her that it doesn't even surprise him. if anything, he finds it amusing enough to make him smile. he then sits on the edge of the sink to get comfortable, nursing the chilled bottle of beer in his hand. he could use a break from the mingling anyway. ❝ i'm joking. we listen and we don't judge. maybe judge a little bit, only 'cause i don't think that tub's seen clorox in a really long time. ❞ a leg stretches over to lightly tap her foot on the edge. ❝ how long have you been in there? that's gotta be bad for your back. you're not even lying on a rolled up towel or anything, just... raw doggin' it. ❞
“ better have your notes app ready to go, draft up my obit in case a flesh eating bacteria decides to take me out for good. ” he was probably right, a quick rinse down once a year might've been the extent. she fixed him with a sidelong glance, pointed. “ well … if you checked your phone, you’d know. i texted you, like, fifty times. ” an exaggeration. it was more like three, maybe five, back-to-back. she even hit him with a ‘when you don’t answer just imagine i’m somewhere bleeding out’ for the theatrics. “ but i assume you were too busy holding people hostage. ” see: yapping. despite the jab, she couldn't bring herself to suppress a smile. it was hard to hide one around him. exerting every ounce of energy she had, iris attempted to pull herself up, but leather pants against porcelain had her sliding around like a bar of soap instead. “ this is prime time bloody mary hours. ” and not the glorified spiked tomato sauce of a drink, but the urban legend of a game. accepting defeat with a huff, her free hand shot out, “ help me. ”
natalia’s hand curled around the doorknob, staring at iris with a shocked expression. she blinked, rapid as her heartbeat, a scoff slipping from her lips. “jesus christ, iris, you scared the literal shit out of me.” her eyebrows raised at the sight of her friend looking comfortable as ever in the bathtub. it came to no surprise that natalia would find iris here, but it never failed to make the brit smile. “what if i had to use the loo? and this was the only available restroom? and i had to kick you out?” she shut the door behind her before sitting on the toilet seat, resting her cup on the nearest surface. “why are you hiding out?”
“ sorry darlin'. ” her accent mirrored nat's, but leaned more gemma collins than it did the beloved brit across from her. the act was dropped as quick as it was put on, one like that of a kid who got caught with their hand in a cookie jar taking over instead. faux shame. “ ... i uh, kinda stole some dude's phone earlier and venmoed myself $500. think he might've found out 'cause i could hear him fee-fi-foo-fuming around yelling 'that fuckin' virus'. ” which, she had to give him credit, was pretty clever. iris the virus. she'd have to look into trademarking later, maybe even use the stolen cash to fund the moniker. “ so m'trying not to get my ass handed to me. ” she took a quick drag from her joint before her own skeletal ones were bending to hoist herself upright. “ hold on – why are you hiding ? ”
trixie's eyes watered as she yawned. "may i crash?" she asked to her cousin who was reigning over the hockey boys' bathroom. "i'm just tired," she admitted. "tired and sleepy and shitfaced." she looked down at the tub, overwhelmed by everything. she didn't not have fun... but it always ended up being too much for her. "there's room for both of us, right?"
“ c’mere, ” didn’t even need trixie to finish her question, iris was privy to her cousin's moods – an unspoken understanding that existed between them both. she was quick to make room, even quicker put out the blunt. squashed it like a pesky little bug against grout chipped between rows of tile … made a note to properly discard it later ( which she’d no doubt forget ). regardless, it wasn’t a concern. splayed hands reached forward, looped around wrists to guide sleeping beauty in. once settled, an arm snaked to drape over her shoulders. “ you want me to sing you a lullaby ? i can fuck up a twinkle twinkle little star for you. maybe even remix it, twinkle twinkle little trix. ” she joked. a beat passed before, “ you have a little fun tonight, at least ? ”

what had started as a casual game of beer pong had rapidly evolved into something far more serious, mostly because sofía refused to lose. a small crowd had gathered around the table, every successful shot met with cheers loud enough to compete with the music, and she was having entirely too much fun. after sinking another cup, she placed the ping - pong ball on the table and flashed her opponent a grin. " should i start celebrating now, or do you want to pretend this is still close ? "
the spirit of timothee chalamet as marty mauser was not on her side. granted it was entirely different activity, but still, she was praying to that patron saint of pong with each flick of her wrist ... and each flick ? a fucking miss. it was a public humiliation ritual at that point, the 'ooohs' and 'aaahs' teetering studio audience reaction track territory; but she was determined to live out the underdog arc and reign supreme. “ you've gotta be kidding me. seriously ? c'mon. ” a reluctant snatch of a cup, a forced chug of defeat, and a careless toss of a ball. this time, however, it hit the table before landing directly in. wasn't until she heard 'bounce shot' rattling from an onlooker had she registered the accidental success. “ holy shit, ” you would've thought she just won the lottery. “ oh we are soooo back ! ” she flashed two fingers at her opponent, wiggling them for emphasis. “ that's a twofer, baby. drink those bad boys up. ”

“ you ever heard of knocking ? ” it was a delayed greeting, intentional, waited until the latch of the door drown echoes of the party to a dull roar before making her presence known. she’d already been banished from a bedroom – couple of lovebirds barging in seconds away from a fifty shades recreation chasing her out like a stray. could’ve retreated outside, sure, but the bathroom was closer … and surprisingly not that big of a biohazard. who would’ve thought ? “ y’know i could’ve been in here donald duckin’ it ” translation: pants down, “ mid-pee or swapping spit with one of my many suitors. ” and yet the sight was probably more jarring than both combined. there iris was, clothed body ( she wasn't that drunk ) stretching the expanse of an empty tub, crossed ankles hiked to rest against the edge, with a joint burning between fingertips. “ no one ever teach you manners ? ” she quipped.
mind : how does their mind think and process information ? like a human brain , a computer ? something else , or both ?
sometimes her mind is like that one scene in spongebob where all the little spongebobs are running around in his head while the file cabinets are up in flames. other times, it's like one of those bulky desktops you'd find in the computer room of your childhood home that'd take about twenty minutes to boot up before you can even type a single letter but houses every file known to man. she's notoriously scatterbrained, but simultaneously has a rolodex of useless facts stowed away in the recesses that would only really be beneficial in a game of pub trivia. she'll probably forget your birthday, but remember the song you sang ( and absolutely tanked ) at your middle school talent show even if you only mentioned it in passing.

absolutely not. she tried to give the whole guided meditation thing a shot in the past, but ended up listening to the recording on 2x speed because she got bored halfway through.
🌅 - Have they ever pulled an all-nighter? If so, what do they do to stay awake?
she constantly does so out of habit like breaking sticks, sometimes doesn't even realize it until she's being serenaded by a bunch of birds chirping out their morning symphony. however, when it comes to doing so out of necessity she tends to struggle. she'll fry her eardrums with some music, down a red bull and immediately chase it with a five hour energy in the name of unhinged self care to keep the cogs turning.
🍪 cookies & cream frappuccino – what brings them comfort?
she'll tell you bargain bin horror films. not the classic halloweens and screams ( even if the latter is her favorite ) – we're talking movies that were made with $10 and a dream that you'd find for $1 at the thrift store buried beneath a heaping pile of 90s television box sets and 2000s made-for-tv romcoms. they’re god awful to the point where she finds them endearing. thinks it's nice that someone had a vision they believed in so much they got off their ass to bring it to life ... even if said vision is shit. she couldn't give a reason as to why she finds them so comforting, maybe it's the ritual of making fun of them while they play. what she really wants to say: dkny be delicious, specifically in the green bottle, her mom’s signature scent. it reminds her of when she was a little girl tugging on her mom's hand to get picked up in places where things got too overwhelming ... how it lingered when she buried her face in the crook of her neck and clung to her own clothes after the fact; but it's melancholic as much as it is comforting.

should she focus on bettering her time management ? probably. maybe more practical skills like how to change the oil in her car ( she can change a tire no problem ) or how to cook without setting the fire alarm off almost every time ? well yes, but her priorities lie elsewhere ... close up magic. slight of hand, mentalism, coin and card tricks, the whole nine. she wants to be the girl guessing your credit card info just from staring into your eyes ... someone to put that dud david fuckin' blaine to shame. that and she thinks it'd make for a cool party trick.
