Actual Proof that Morgana Has Better Motivation than Loki
I’ve noticed something. You see these two?
Both are portrayed by an very gifted European actor/actress.
Both have a similar physical appearance and wear a lot of black and green.
Both are incredibly manipulative, fantastic liars.
Both start out in the lap of material luxury.
Both were lied to about the circumstances of their birth.
Both have a sweet, cocky, overly trusting, blond prince brother who is favored by their fathers.
Both start out really good.
Both were wronged and turn against their families.
Both evil-smirk all the time.
Both were shackled and imprisoned.
Both use mind control to get what they want.
Both of their hair gets crazier as the movies/episodes go on.
When Morgana finds out she’s a sorceress: she sympathizes with her people and tries to help them.
When Loki finds out he’s a Frost Giant: he attempts to wipe out their entire race.
When Morgana finds out she’s Uther’s daughter: she tries to kill him.
When Loki finds out he’s not Odin’s son: he tries to kill Thor (what?).
When Morgana was imprisoned: she was kept in a pit for two years with her arms shackled above her head—no bathtub, no bathroom, and she had to share her food and space with a deformed dragon (Katie McGrath also said that Morgana was tortured during her stay with the Sarrum).
When Loki was imprisoned: he had a bed, books, food, luxuries, and was visited by his mother.
(And as much as I love Loki and wish I could justify everything he does, the popular theory that he was tortured and was under mind control during The Avengers, while clever, isn’t quite credible to me).
What Morgana is fighting for: revenge, hurt, and a desire to liberate her persecuted people
What Loki is fighting for: revenge, hurt, and jealousy
–Reasons for Turning Evil–
Her blood father betrayed her mother’s husband and probably had him killed to cover up his mistakes.
She grew up with nightmares so terrifying that she had to take sleeping drafts for relief, but the drafts never worked.
She was denied by her father.
She was ignored and laughed at by her half-brother.
She was deceived and drugged by Gaius.
She was misled and used by Alvarr.
She was manipulated by her half-sister.
And she was betrayed and poisoned by Merlin.
Now here’s why Loki turned evil:
He was deceived, overlooked, and used by Odin.
He was jealous of Thor, whom Odin favored.
And he was unwanted by his birth father.
The rest of Loki’s other motivations can be summed up under those three categories. All in all, he’s got nothing on Morgana’s motivation.
But how do the fans see them?
When Loki gleefully uses an instrument with revolving blades to gouge out the eye of a living man and grins while the victim writhes in agony: people think he’s sexy and call him misunderstood.
When Morgana tries to assassinate Uther in order to avenge her best friend’s father: people say she was using Tom’s death as an excuse to kill Uther and call her pure, unredeemable evil.
