I wish all Black girls a clear shot at this world. I wish all Black girls a full belly. I wish all Black girls a respite from their many troubles. I wish all Black girls nothing but grace, prosperity, and ease. Black girls I am hoping for your continued safety and success every single day.
Okay now that the show is over, I'm curious: what does the TWH Tumblr fandom think about the fan theory that Alice is Claire and went back in time as an older adult and eventually ended up with Nick again? It's super popular on the subreddit for some reason but personally I feel like it undermines the whole Max/Alice endgame and that Max would likely have to die tragically in the future for this to even be feasible. She'd have no reason to want to go back to be with someone else unless Max was permanently out of the picture, and with the way the series ended it seems like they're probably going to last, because the whole point of her storyline was her being able to let go of the past and finally look forward to her future life.
I also think the theory is very weird given that Nick is older in the present day, when Alice is still a teenager, even though she originally met him in the past as a teenager himself. It just makes the situation incredibly awkward to me and if the show magically gets picked up by another network/streaming service for an additional season I really don't want them to pursue this storyline. It'd just rub a lot of people the wrong way I think, plus again it'd be a slap in the face to Max's character and the fact that he waited so long for Alice to realize that she had feelings for him. I know K.C. had that whole bit with telling Alice that "everything's a countdown to something" - which could imply anything including their Uncle Max dying in the future (although it's most likely referring to Abby dying since how else did they end up with the ring). But it just doesn't sit right with me
This 100%. I go on that TWH sub, but it is so oversaturated with Claire/Alice discussion that it’s no longer a place I’ll frequent. The Nick and Alice supporters there are just a little too much for me.
Though some will say there were breadcrumbs left for a potential Alice/Nick reunion, I really feel the show-runners linked Alice and Max together because of the past— i.e Evie and Colton. In season 3, Alice says “if you like someone, you should just tell them.” She says it to Noah, but I believe it was the lead up to her eventually admitting her feelings for Max. Not to mention, Nick urges her to go be with someone she loves. With one of the show’s themes also being pursuing one’s dreams, why wouldn’t both her and Max go and be great in the world while continuing to find each? It’s regressive for her to go back to a first love, leaving behind family and career.
And I do think Max and Alice would have stayed together in the long run, and if ever the series were continued, I would hope the A/N shippers wouldn’t make the creators pursue this nonsensical storyline and forgo the love story between Alice and Max. Them acknowledging the Claire theory is already enough.
The day Alice and Evelyn met, Evelyn lost a friend who gave the best hugs. And then Alice kept showing up just when she was needed to give the hugs that Rick couldn't.
