Thomas Mailaender’s series Illustrated People skillfully combines performance art and photography. In this series, Mailaender applied original negatives from the Archive of Modern Conflict to his subject’s skin while he projected a UV lamp over the negatives. He then photographed the images projected as burns on his subjects, using human skin as photosensitive paper.
