My Current Obssessions

Batman, The Mandalorian, embroidery, mushrooms, whatever the heck I’m obsessing about at the moment. And then more Mandalorian. I’ve rented movies from Blockbuster and can remember a time before internet and cell phones.

Movie thoughts, super random:

Something I keep thinking about is Din and the anzellans. He must have fostered a good relationship with them off screen based on their willingness to drive out to his cabin and sleep overnight in his ship, their protectiveness over Grogu, and their insistence on coming back to Nal Hutta for him. And Din scooping them all up to bring them to safety and hiding them under his floor boards and saving that one from Embo’s creature… 🫠

I really, really love what it says about Din and his ability to form meaningful, mutually supportive relationships.

Don’t get me started on the vibe with Rotta - some tough (if initially misguided) love going on there. And Rotta seems to adore him despite the little kidnapping incident. 😂

On the topic of competency - effectively understanding and speaking Huttese…. And knowing exactly what to do with his ship ‘just tear the whole thing out’ while Zeb is like 🫤

And keeping Kuill’s blurrgs…

‘I’m an independent contractor’ ‘just doing my job’ haha ok Din, you’re ride or die with mere acquaintances.

Imagine Grace defined his name as the elegance definition of grace and Rocky spends years thinking how fucking ironic this clumsy leaky space blobs name is.

Until Grace slips out a sentence along the lines of "could you give me a little grace here" and Rocky immediately points out he used a word wrong so Grace has to explain that yeah, grace means elegance but it can also mean mercy sometimes too.

And Rocky has to suddenly reconcile that the clumsy leaky blob that saved his life twice, that almost certainly doomed himself to come back for him, name is Mercy.

THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU (2026)

i really love how much emphasis the mandalorian and grogu placed upon how kind din djarin is.

is he an incredible fighter? yes... it was cool to see him kicking ass on the big screen.

but more than that, i really appreciated his interactions with the anzellans how empathetic he was to rotta and of course how patient and loving he was with grogu. i loved how it was highlighted that din is actually kind of averse to violence, and mostly views it as a last resort that should only be turned to when talking doesn't work. that is one of the things i adore most about his character.

he's a walking beskar-played contradiction. he appears like a terrifying mandalorian warrior to the rest of the galaxy, but underneath that steel is a heart of gold. that part of him means so much to me, and i'm so glad it was present as he took the leap to the big screen!

I noticed that also! His gentleness is his most appealing trait as a character. I wonder if meeting and parenting Grogu is what shaped this. Yes it was always there, but before Grogu it seemed like he was just surviving without much feeling.
