Dec 2022 update- to me

You’ve been a fully qualified midwife for a few years now- you love it and the women you care for so much. 

You currently live with the two best housemates in a place with a cardboard Nic Cage cutout and dress up movie nights. There’s no shortage of laughter or love. 

Going through the worst breakup of your life (i’m calling it, there’s not gonna be another worse one after this). But you made the right call, you’ll be alright. He wrote a song for you and performed it on a reality TV show he went on. 

Your friends and family relationships have evolved so much. That guy you met on here a decade ago is one of your best friends in the world, you’re heading overseas with them soon. Your baby sister wants to be a psychologist, and you see your siblings as peers or friends rather than just fam. 

You’ve backpacked SE asia with a guy you met when you went to a concert solo and it was one of the best things you’ve ever done. 

I hope the next few years are kind.

i look through my blog archives like once every few years, and i thought i should actually post something new for next time i look back

2018. songs ive had on repeat today naive-kooks, turn-wombats, disparate youth-santigold  renting an old three bedroom place with a big backyard and the ghostbusters sign on our garage, it’s falling apart a little but nowhere has ever felt like home like this place does still a student midwife, caught 24 babies, still insane, will never not love helping women in whatever way i can. bring on the next 6 weeks of placement this week has been finishing my final assignment for the year, dancing in the bathroom to panic at the disco with josh, staying up all night watching wellington paranormal and juno with james

my thoughts go out to everyone involved with what’s going on with the hostages in martin place right now; the hostages themselves, everyone who knows and loves them, everyone who is working to peacefully resolve this situation.

my thoughts also go out to all the loving and peaceful muslims in australia and around the world who will come up against increased ignorance and islamophobia as a direct result of the actions of a small number of extremists.
