And I felt nothing

Dandy was looking at her differently than before, which was something better than he had been. It made her feel…well…not so Plain Jane and crazy. Not that she thought she had really even been either of them. Eric had always called her special, and made a point to make her believe in herself like that. She had. Until she started becoming the angel of death more than she had special.

She watched Dandy move to grab one of the game boards they had stocked in the rec room. Monopoly. “It’s been a while since I’ve played. I might be a little rusty, just a warning.” She laughed sheepishly as she picked up the shoe, commenting, “Nice choice,” as he picked up the cowboy hat.

"We're not going to play..." Dandy rolled his eyes. "We just needed an alias." Things were so much easier just simply basing things off of what already existed. It was senseless to take so much time to try and figure out something that wouldn't be so important in the long run. What did matter was that they figured out what their new identity would be. "Like a game of spies." Dandy pushed the rest of the pieced towards her. "Now choose one, quickly."

"Answer me this," Oliver said, raising a dark brow. "Did you know that there are people in here just like you? People who have murdered? There is no need to keep secrets from me. What you tell me will remain confidential."

"I know. I'm not stupid." Dandy rolled his eyes and huffed out a breath. He might have been a killer, but he knew very well where he was and why he was there. He just wanted to get out. "And what? You'll ensure my imprisonment in this asylum? I'm not interested in planning out my own demise, thank you."

Hazel eyes blinked and then narrowed at the crazy fool throwing a tantrum like a child. “Are you crazy? Like literally insane?” Madison asked as she glared at the man child. “I did not cheat, it’s not my fault that you weren’t good enough at the game we were playing. You lost, deal with it.” Her patience wouldn’t hold out too long with Dandy that was for sure.

"I am n o t insane!" Dandy screamed through his gritted teeth. He slammed his foot to the ground, his temper only rising as the situation went on. "You did cheat! I saw you with my own two eyes!" He took a deep breath, huffing it out violently, his muscles tensing as he appeared almost to be readying himself to attack, though his position in the room never changed.

Gloria watched as her baby boy’s eyes lite up at the boats. She was so pleased she decided to purchase them this afternoon. She heard his request and swiftly turned on her heels. “Yes, my darling. I will get him and be right back!” She disappeared for a few minutes before coming back in. “Here is Mr. Ducky!” She proclaim. “Now get in the bath, dear. I’ll fetch your pjs.”

Dandy decided to place the toy boats inside of the tub one by one as his mother disappeared off once more. He liked the sight of the toy boats floating, like they were real boats. Too bad there was going to be a giant monster in the tub along with them soon. He turned on his heels, facing his mother once more as she appeared in the bathroom with Mr. Ducky. He snatched it from her hand and began to undress, tossing his clothes aside carelessly in the bathroom. "Mother, I want my blue teddy jammies." He stated before his mother completely left the bathroom. His left foot was the first to enter the tub, simply testing out the waters before it was joined by the rest of his body, causing the water to rise significantly, thankfully his tub was large enough to accommodate for the rise of the water.

It was impossible for people to really grasp how she did what she did, even with an explanation that made sense to only her. Her smile was growing faint, but that was just the way the atmosphere of this place left you. “So does that mean I’m entertaining enough?” She honestly didn’t care whether or not she passed his test, whatever. It was just something to do here instead of mope around until bed.

"Captivating." Dandy breathed out with an assuring expression to his face. The way he looked at the other changed from end to end. Instead of looking like Sookie like a mental patient, Dandy looked at her like a wonder of the world. An oddity to admire from afar and appreciate for what she was. But beyond that, the anomaly that was her was too great to fit in with the rest of the world.

"Excuse me for a moment." Dandy raised a finger, quickly getting up from his seat only to return with a monopoly box in hand. He set the box down at the table in front of them, quickly taking out the pieces and laid it out in front of them. "I'll choose first." Dandy announced as he reached for the pieces and took one. "I'm the cowboy." He stated with a smile. "Now, you pick."

Sookie listened intently for the flow of consciousness. She blocked out everyone else’s thoughts but his own, listening for the answers to what she had asked of him. A small smile was slowly forming when she heard them. “Three hundred and twenty one, bleu de france,” she paused when she listened for the song name. It was a dramatic pause in fact, in hopes that he would be hanging on to wonder if she would get it or not. “Star Dust.” She grinned.

Dandy paused for a moment, a slight chill moving down his spine as the other repeated his thoughts to him. Perhaps she did have telekinesis. "How did you..." Dandy swallowed hard, "Nevermind that..." He cleared his throat. There was really no room for questioning how the other managed to read his mind, what mattered now was that he had her under his tool belt. "Well, Sookie." He knew he must have pronounced it incorrectly, but he didn't care much to begin with, "You've certainly convinced me of your... Talents."

Before he could leave her completely, because she did know how insane she must have sounded, especially when she was in an insane asylum, she told him in a smooth voice, “Think of a number between one and one thousand, any sort of color no matter how vibrant it is, and a song. Any song. Just think of those three things.” Though Sookie didn’t feel like she had to prove anything to people, it was always interesting to see their reactions when she did prove to them she was real and not crazy.

Dandy paused for a moment, turning around again with a bemused look on his face. "Well, I do like guessing games." He made his way towards one of the chairs in the lounge, taking a seat as he hummed. He leaned forward, pressing the pads of his fingers together in thought. A number: three hundred and twenty one. A color: Bleu De France. A song: Star Dust. Dandy stared at the girl with hopeful eyes, like a small child witnessing a magic show for the first time in his life.

The drugs they called medication in this place didn’t stall her telepathy. In fact it made her mind more open to hearing everyone’s thoughts. And the thoughts in here of all places? It absolutely dreadful. A real nightmare. She though that the ones from the overweight, beer-drinking bar flies was bad enough, she had no idea what it would be like t hear the ones from absolute insane people.

Now the ones that she were getting from him, was something about escaping. Brown orbs flickered quickly up at him, wanting to say something. But escaping here was impossible. Getting to the front door, past all of the doctors, nuns, and the rest of the staff…? No. Secret doors? Was there even such a thing?

”I can give you something entertaining.” Sookie suddenly told him. She stood back up from where she had originally sat down, looking right into his eyes. “My name’s Sookie. I’m a telepath. And I know you want to escape.”

Dandy nearly chuckled, looking into the girl's eyes. Well, at least now she's made it into the grid of people of interest in Dandy's list. A population of one wasn't so bad, considering the fact that it must have been extremely difficult to find just a tiny hint of sanity and usefulness amongst the insane. "Well, I suppose it's understandable now... Why you're here." Although, Dandy didn't have too much interest in the other's personal life and what she was doing in an insane asylum along with so many others.

"If you'll excuse me, I think I'll find more... Tangible talents." Dandy nodded a goodbye towards the girl, spinning around to ready his leave. If only he could find out which patients were points of interest. It would make his life so much easier.

"Well your fortunes are infuriating." Dandy pouted, eying over to the side with pursed lips. But he would lie if he said he wasn't curious about what the rest of what the other had to offer. "Very well, let me look into your crystal ball."

Dandy stilled for a moment, looking over towards a stuffed animal. There was a lot of talk within the asylum, mostly from the still mentally capable captives, that Dandy's heard from. There was always a common theme between each whisper... Watch out for Sister Jude. Dandy could see why. The woman was ruthless, stone cold, harsh, but most of all emotionless. At least from Dandy's point of view, that was exactly how he saw Sister Jude as. Of all the people in the asylum, she was the one he could compare himself to the most. Or at least wanted to compare himself to. "Is this a test?" Dandy questioned, not making a move to reach for the stuffed animal yet. "Because I am not interested in participating." He crossed his arms over his chest, turning away to the side. He's had enough evaluations from Dr. Oliver Thredson, and he didn't need to have more from Sister Jude.

Dandy looked over the gift, eyeing over the superficial details of what he assumed was meant for him. It seemed to be in perfect condition, but there was a question left to be answer. What did this girl want in return? He knew he would pay for this favor one way or another, whether he knew it or not. Just as his mother told him, never to trust the kindness of the common folk. "If this is your attempt of wooing me, you're going to have to do a much better job of it."

Relationships never meant much to Dandy, at least unless he got something from it. It was why he could easily kill, why he could struggle to kill, why he could easily let go, and why it was hard to let go. It was never the act of a connection, but what it could do for him.

Dandy smiled as he slowly reached forward at the acceptance of the stuffed animal. It was tattered and old, worn to it's core, but it signified something more than the ancient rubble it presented itself to be. To Dandy, this was friendship, something he's rarely ever had. He never really sought out what this clown now offers him, but he would gladly take it if only to have the feeling of being normal. He supposed that was the problem, he didn't usually feel anything. Even at the spur of the moment, he didn't feel much overwhelming sentiment, but he knew he should have. Instead, he has only emotions for himself. Happiness. Relief. Acceptance. He would continue this charade only to benefit himself, but that was as far as this would have gone.

"Thank you, clown." Dandy pulled the stuffed animal closer to him, looking over the dirtied toy. A missing eye, ripped seams, a half missing leg. This was what Dandy felt inside. Through the polished facade, this was who he truly was. A corrupted animal, slowly hollowing down... And it was glorious.
