I’m not going to pile gallons of gel onto my hairline, and try to comb it into submission, only to cause breakage and traction alopecia, so that I can meet some jaded beauty standards. Beauty standards that were MADE UP, and only gained validity because many people decided to go along with the lies. I promise you, some people will try and make you feel like it is FACT that your natural hair texture is inferior. But it’s all a lie. I have 4b/4c hair and 4b/4c edges are apart of the package. My edges are full and thriving. Yes. It breaks my heart to see so many women giving their precious energy away, trying to force themselves to meet these standards that were not made for them, but only made to destroy them. The only way you can win is if you make your own standards and you live by those instead. Please believe me when I say this. Because I promise you I’m telling you the truth. And for those of you who may say “it’s just hair” “it’s just baby hair it ain’t that deep” …you haven’t walked in the shoes of those girls who are made to feel inferior simply because of the texture of their hair. This is real life. If your edges lay down effortlessly. That is beautiful.
