Getting close to my due date
Hannah Elizabeth Barnes
Baby barnes is getting huge! She'll soon be here to meet everyone. One excited mommy.
Back in the days when they could stand being around each other.
Friendship || Seth & Hannah
His eyes widening in surprise as Hannah looked as if she was about to faint, Seth led her over to a bench in a park next to where they were standing and sat her down, rubbing her back, trying to be soothing. “It’ll be alright, Hannah. We’ll figure something out for you.” His mind raced with possible solutions, until one stuck with him that hurt, but would work. “Maybe… Maybe I could move back in with my grandparents.” He looked at her, a sad smile on his face. “My grandmother came and talked to me while I was at work a couple days ago. She said her and my grandfather want me back. You could live with me there, Hannah.” He right knee nervously bounced up and down, and he broke eye contact with her, staring at his feet. “I haven’t talked to Kyle about… What would be best. He would hate it.. But, it might work out better for everyone this way.” He glanced up at her blue eyes hopefully.
"I'm sorry .. s-sorry .." She mumbled, sitting down, head in her head, the panic subsiding. "Panic attack .. not good for baby.." Her voice was muffled by her hands, quietened by her anguish. She would find somewhere for her and her baby of course. But with he way things were going, perhaps it would be better to give the child up for adoption. Then she would be the only one with out a home or perhaps complications in the birth .. Hannah shook her head, willing the dark thoughts that plagued the back of her mind away. His suggestion made her eyes raise to him, drowned in hopelessness. Shaking her head with a small smile, she forced her reply. "No Seth, I couldn't do that.. you're so happy with Kyle, you deserve that happiness, I couldn't ask you to ask your Grandparents this, or move back in, making your self so unhappy all over again .." Laying her head on his shoulder, cradling her bump, she sighed. "I should just give her up shouldn't I .."
Friendship || Seth & Hannah
Tears on the brims of her eyes, Seth grabbed Hannah and pulled her as close to him as he could, starting to feel like he was going to cry himself. Their hug was a little awkward with Hannah’s belly in the way, but Seth clung to her none the less. “It’ll be okay, Hannah bear.” Seth said his voice cracking slightly with sadness. “You… You can come stay with us!” Seth pulled away, looking to check her expression. “Before you say anything, I know you and Kyle hate each other but he would want you to stay there for me because he knows I wouldn’t forgive him for not letting you stay with us when you needed a place to stay and it could work Hannah, I think you should think about it because I can’t have you and your baby on the streets-” He ran out of breath, gasping for air, realizing he hadn’t taken a breath through his whole long sentence. “What… What are you thinking? Would that work?”
Her arms wrapped around Seth, her face burried in the crook of his neck as hot tears slipped over her cheeks, the sobs shaking her frame ballooned with pregnancy. His soft cooing words made her feel better slowly but surely, her breathing slowly evening out. As he pulled back to look at her, she tried to analyse her face from the inside out, the cold tear stains on her cheeks which where probably flushed, and her eyes wide with fear, lashes wet and long. "I-I can't Seth, can't do that to Kyle .. we won't be on the streets .. we'll .. I'll .. I don't know .. and John, he puts up with so much already, if he finds out, I'm scared Seth .. he won't be able to handle all this .. I just .. there has to be a room somewhere I can rent out .. I have a little money." She took a deep breath, feeling the panic rising up in her and her knees buckling a little, her head light. Not good for the baby. " I-I need to s.. sit."
Friendship || Seth & Hannah
Nodding, Seth didn’t notice Hannah’s discomfort on the subject. When she spoke about her parents, he swung in front of her, his eyes wild. “Your parents are disowning you? For what? What did Kyle tell them?”
Thankful that part of the conversation was avoided, for now at least, Hannah couldn't help the dread at the thought that one day there would have to come a time when Seth would find out about their angry past together, and why they hated each other so passionately. But the way he looked at her, catching the despairing look in her eyes and the deep sadness at her words, they ground to a halt. "He told them the truth .. that I'm a slut .. he told them about Bryce .. and add that to the fact I disgraced my family already by my grades dropping and getting pregnant, just a couple things in a line of many .. yeah, knowing that I'm .. "The town bicycle", yeah, it was the final straw that broke the camel's back." Fighting back the tears, she laughed softly. "So I'm living with my Grandparents for the next two weeks, then I .. I-I have no clue. I'm no longer a part of their family after two weeks .. they don't want me even near them."
Friendship || Seth & Hannah
His eyes glanced at her curiously, the two of them walking at a slower pace now. “Well, I asked him what you meant, and he said we shouldn’t talk about it. That was it, really. I’m trying to keep a handle on my curiosity, since his sexual past doesn’t really matter until we decide to have sex. When we get closer to that point, maybe I’ll ask him again, for my own safety.” He smirked at her teasingly. “Mostly.” Seth looked at his best friend again, confused why she had such a strange expression. “Is everything alright, Hannah?”
"Um yeah .. It's just best to leave that at rest you know. There's lots of things that couples don't need to know about each other till later on in the relationship .. that's for sure." Hannah let out a little laugh, but the smile didn't reach her eyes. She hoped there were parts of Kyle's sexual past, bits that included herself that he would strategically leave out. It was all done in anger and was a series of mistakes. "Everything is .. different. I can't explain Seth .. I just ... Kyle knew a lot of things, he may have told my mother some of those things, the real bad stuff .. I'm being disowned .. "
Friendship || Seth & Hannah
Seth stopped their progress to the ice cream shack, turning so he was facing Hannah. “Han, we all need to just move past what happened. I’ve finally gotten Kyle to feel like he isn’t a satan spawn for punching you. Now I need you to not be worried about what you said. Kyle and I talked about..” Seth bit his lip for second, breaking his eye contact with her. “…What you were telling me when he hit you, and we’re okay. We all just need to… Move on with our lives. Okay, darling?” He put his hands on her shoulders during his finishing sentence, smiling sweetly at her.
Flushing red, she nodded, taking a deep breath and fighting back a torrent of sorry's. Her best friend really was a blessing, and angel in disguise. He was a total godsend in that moment and she clung to his arm tighter, needing him now more than ever. "Yes, yes, we'll move on. Much more exciting things are on the horizon anyways." She spoke, trying to muster her normal vivacity back in to the tone of her voice. "I um.. just to clear one thing up, what did you both talk about exactly .. in relation to what I was saying when 'it' happened." She looked up at him, eyes wide with her question, praying Kyle hadn't spilled it all yet again, but knowing he mostly likely had. For who could keep anything from someone as endearing as Seth. She certainly couldn't.
Someone already adores my little girl.
Friendship || Seth & Hannah
Finding out that he would be Hannah’s daughter’s godfather was one of the happiest moments of Seth’s life. Seth already knew that, being Hannah’s best friend, he would look after and take care of the child, but being made the godfather added that much more responsibility to it. “Babe, I’m going to go into town with Hannah, alright?” Seth tried to sound confident and convinced himself his voice wasn’t shaking as he informed Kyle of his meeting with Hannah. Kyle looked up from his book to nod, clearly trying to be supportive despite his dislike for Hannah. “Do you need a ride?” Seth shook his head, collecting his wallet and one of Kyle’s hoodies as he got ready to leave. Seth could see the small sadness on Kyle’s expression from losing Seth for the night, so Seth crossed the room to Kyle. He straddled Kyle and said in a soft voice “Tomorrow, it’ll be just us.” He took Kyle’s hand to his lips and kissed it sweetly. “I promise.” Kissing Kyle’s forehead in a goodbye, Seth zipped up the hoodie and said “I don’t know what time I’ll be home, don’t wait up.” Seth smiled sweetly and said “I love you.” He left the house, deciding to walk to town instead of riding his bike so he wouldn’t have to worry about it the whole time. Seth pulled his hood up almost immediately after going outside, wishing it was a stormier day as he made the trek to his and Hannah’s meeting spot. When he saw Hannah, he grinned brightly and hugged her awkwardly, her pregnant belly getting in the way. “Wow, you’re really pregnant. ” He laughed embarrassedly for a moment, face palming. “I mean, uh, you’re glowing. Isn’t that, something close to what normal people say to pregnant people?” His cheeks red from embarrassment, he took her hand and held it to his face, smiling at her softly. “I missed you.”
The bubble of mirth left Hannah's lips as her arms cradles her friend, then her stomach, looking down at the large bump with a fond smile. It looked like she's swallowed a ball with the way her stomach projected out against her small frame but she was totally in love with the way she looked and in that moment, her smile was indeed almost glowing as she took the compliments. "I would hope so, I feel like a fat cow most of the time. I wonder how I'm still even in a relationship or how he deals with having to look at my double chins." Winking with a last grin, Hannah linked her arm though Seth's, Resting her head on his shoulder fondly for a moment, before the two set off in the direction of the ice cream shack. It was quiet for a moment as they walked, peacefully enjoying each others company, but Hannah's teeth worried at her lip as she thought of how to phrase what truly needed to be said. "I know I've already apologized, but truly Seth, I'm so sorry, about with Kyle .. I .. I pushed too far .. it's just that day.." She trailed off, trying to smile. "I didn't mean to."
Friendship || Seth & Hannah
Staring aimlessly at the ceiling above her, phone clasp in her right hand, Hannah bit her lower lip with a sigh, her free hand caressing her unborn child as it moved restlessly with in her. Sleep hadn't been coming easy, especially with the events that had occurred as of recent, but live moved on. The whir of the washing machine in the laundry room seemed to sooth her as well as the clicking of her Grandmothers knitting needles as she hummed along to the music playing in her study. The chime of her phone, bringing Hannah from her reverie, made her jump, the child lurching inside her as it's mother cause it to fright. Smiling she soothingly rubbed where the child's head should be, reading over the text.
Having expected her relationship with her best friend to be more forced and fragile after the car park fiasco, she was delighted that nothing was changed. Loosing Seth now would break her heart just that bit more. They arranged to meet in town in a little while to talk and eat together, and she wanted to apologise properly, face to face.
Carefully and cumbersome, Hannah stood from the sofa,moving to dress and but on some makeup. It was futile, the dark circles under her eyes from lack of sleep still prominent. Shrugging, she merely slipped her jacket on, glad she'd purchased new clothes befitting her state and with her bag in hand, left the house, calling out to her grandmother. The walk in to town was pleasant, the sun bright and warm on her curly hair. The mere sound of bird song brought a smile to her lips as she wandered along, reaching their meeting point by the bay harbor. She settled her self on the low wall there, looking out over her shoulder at the sea, glassy and beautiful lapping at the shore. It was a perfect day.
