But Bernie Sanders is running as a dem as well! Hillary doesn’t have the nomination yet and probably won’t get it because she is controversial to the left and the right. Bernie Sanders doesn’t have much of a chance either unless we help spread the word. There are a lot of first time voters in tumblr, so if you agree with him, get the word out!

If you’re sitting there thinking “Why should I bother supporting Bernie Sanders in the primaries?  He has no chance against Clinton,” you need a deeper understanding of politics, my friend.

Yes, Sanders probably will be beaten, and Clinton probably will get the nomination in the end.  However, the more support he gets before that happens, the more clearly we send the message that the standard right-leaning Democratic party isn’t cutting it for us any more.

If Clinton gets 90% of the vote in the primaries, she can comfortably sit back and assume that her war-supporting corporation-fellating policies are just fine and dandy with her voter base.  If she squeaks through with only 52% and the other 48% goes to Sanders, we’ve still sent a clear message that we want our left-wing choice to actually be left-wing. 

And hey, there’s still an outside chance Sanders could get the nomination, and that would be cool too.  But win or lose, supporting Sanders is a chance to tell the Democratic party that they need to shift to the left, and that the people want a party that actually represents them.
