Just unfollow it. Its probably never going to be updated ever again. I made this blog in late 2015 for Hannibal stuff and now my life is falling apart and I’m tired and I can’t be bothered to delete this blog or actually update it. Hell I don’t think I even care about Hannibal or really anything - funny how your passion just leaves you all of a sudden and you wake up, and life is just really grey and meaningless.

idk if anyone will even read this. probably not. If you do, then remember to unfollow and cut this useless tumblr blog out of your feed. I’ll reblog this post occasionally to make sure you people see it. also, thanks for following me whenever you did, I used to smile whenever I saw a new follower. and I low-key stalked all your blogs too. doesn’t matter now, just unfollow ok.

Graham had a lot of trouble with taste. Often his thoughts were not tasty. There were no effective partitions in his mind. What he saw and learned touched everything else he knew. Some of the combinations were hard to live with. But he could not anticipate them, could not block and repress. His learned values of decency and propriety tagged along, shocked at his associations, appalled at his dreams; sorry that in the bone arena of his skull there were no forts for what he loved. His associations came at the speed of light. His value judgments were at the pace of a responsive reading. They could never keep up and direct his thinking.

He viewed his own mentality as grotesque but useful, like a chair made of antlers. There was nothing he could do about it.

Okay but like one of the reasons AU Hannibal fell so fast and hard for Will (aside from Hannibal feeling lovesick over Will being a universal constant) is because Will actually listened to him, and understood what he was saying, and yet Hannibal could tell that Will wasn’t even slightly afraid of him.

And it’s not until the moment that Hannibal learns the truth about Will that Will starts to be afraid of him, because now Hannibal has the power to expose him, and not simply in the sense that he could burn Will’s entire life down and leave him rotting in a jail cell, but because he becomes acutely aware of Hannibal’s ability to lay him bare, to judge him and find him lacking, or even worse - inauthentic.

And that’s what Will’s terrified of for the longest time - more than the threat that Hannibal might turn him in or use his fists on him again or surprise him in some other dangerous way that Will can’t quite predict; of being told that he doesn’t know himself, or that he isn’t fooling Hannibal, and that the person Will has convinced himself is his Real Self is as much a fake as the the mask he presents to the rest of the world.

And that fear never goes away completely.

And that’s a difficult thing for Hannibal, because he thought he was in love with Will, but then he found out that the version of Will he believed he was in love with was little more than a carefully constructed lie, but that was alright because it turned out that the Real Will was so much more interesting, dispite (and often because of) his being so petty and fucked up and dangerous.

Hannibal’s quite happy to love the person that Will is, but he’s never going to get back the version of Will that isn’t afraid of him.

OOF. That is painful. (And relatable, for reasons that have more to do with mental health than murder, but…still relatable. I’m gonna sit over here and have some feelings now.)

That’s one of the fascinating things about the series in general (and something I have I lot of fun playing with in the AU), isn’t it, the way that Murder and Murder Related Problems function as a stand in for all these super relatable Feelings, especially in regards to mental health but lots of other things too?
