I loooove scrolling past fandom discourse lol. “Character so-and-so is a bottom–“ don’t care. “Shipping A & B instead of A & C is stupid/racist(?)–“ it’s not real. “I hate fics with x and people should stop writing them–“ just don’t read them.
Like I’m definitely all for examining media and fandom spaces and the racism/sexism/bigotry that can and does arise in them, from the patterns in which characters we tend to prioritize and ship to how we treat fans who are POC or other marginalized identities,and I think it’s an important conversation. But also, I’m here for a good time, not someone telling me that my preferred ship or a character’s sex positions are unoriginal or stupid and make me somehow a racist or misogynist. 
Idk does anyone see the difference I’m trying to illustrate? This started out as a joking post and ended in me lightly ranting lmao
I’m not gonna ship or headcanon something just because someone frames it as morally superior
But I am gonna examine and engage with my own biases when someone points out a concerning trend in a fandom where prioritization of a certain ship or character type or headcanon reveals potential underlying bigotry
