Oh. Oh my. I just had an honest-to-god, hand-slapping-forehead moment of “Omg, of course!” regarding the final scene of s3 Hannibal. This man–

Abel Gideon, has the gall to dare claim the title of Chesapeake Ripper, to attempt to usurp Hannibal Lecter, and his punishment/reward is an opportunity to have the pleasure of dining on his own leg. This woman–

Bedelia Du Maurier, has the audacity to claim the title of Bluebeard’s Wife, to usurp Will Graham, and her reward is the same.

Before, I suspected, but after finally recognizing this scene for the parallel that it is, I now know exactly whose idea this little feast at the end of the finale is.

Just in case anyone had lingering doubts, I feel this alone should be enough to confirm that even after the fall it is, indeed, still beautiful. ;)
