The Bad Faith Attacks on Archive of Our Own Have to End

A strange and ugly discourse has reared its head on social media over fandom mothership and Hugo Award-winning website Archive of Our Own.

Also, all the people that hate AO3 being a mosh pit of moral degenerates or whatever don’t actually have to be there. They can go and make their own archive. Very easily. Because AO3 is entirely open source. They freely offer their code for anyone to use to make their own archives. I just went looking for it and it took me less than five minutes to find everything I’d need to set up my own fanwork archive if I knew anything about making websites and wanted to do that.

So they really should just go and do their own thing! If they’re that disturbed by just knowing that some fics exist that are tagged with non-con, then it’s honestly for the best if they set up their own god damn site where those tags don’t even exist, and all content is strictly monitored and deleted if found offensive. There’s enough people complaining that they could probably pull it off if they felt so inclined!

But that requires actual work which is a lot harder than just bitching about AO3, so it’s pretty unlikely that’ll happen.
