Finally an intro post, it's mainly done for me to find my own posts but u guys can find interesting tidbits about kcd/hansry from here. Hi!! I'm Vallarta, going by Val. I play this game like a maniac, trying to find unique/still not seen dialogues and hundreds of changes done to both games. Enjoy the games to the fullest as I did!
PS: Please don't post my vids or posts on Reddit. If something needs to be posted, I'm there so I'll post it myself, but don't share it there without permission 🩶

This scene in KCD1 comes right after Hans and Henry return after their disastrous hunting trip, when Henry is commended by Radzig and Hanush for his loyalty and bravery (before being formally taken into Radzig's service).
And then Hanush declares that they should celebrate, both Henry's promotion, and Hans' recovery.
Without Hans there.
What do you bet Hans never got to hear that his uncle thought his recovery worth celebrating? Hanush has a great deal of care for Hans (discussed in greater length here and here), but the one person that never gets to play witness to that care is Hans. Why wouldn't Hans want to be included in a celebration dedicated to his own recovery? Why shouldn't he?
Of course, Hanush seems unwilling to let Hans see anyone at all aside from the priest while he's recovering, as he tells Henry at the start of Next to Godliness:
No visitors, so of course a celebration would be out of the question. As would waiting to celebrate once Hans is feeling better. And I'm fairly certain that the priest mentioned there is the same one that Hanush dislikes so very much (as per the scene when Henry and Hans first meet). That's a punishment, not a salve on either his wounds or his boredom.
This isn't even shocking. I've linked to these metas before, but they deserve to be held up once again as some of the best out there: @codeword-art brilliantly pointed out how incredibly lonely Hans is (because he was socialized that way), and that that manifested throughout KCD2 by him repeatedly playing the wallflower in most social situations. He places himself apart from any of the merriment at von Bergow's castle, doesn't really interact with the NPCs around him even when they're allies (aside from Sam, where jealousy outweighs his inherent reluctance to interact with other people), and spends the whole Semine wedding with one person, most of the time in a secluded space.
We also see that illustrated in action nowhere better than in the incredible argument @antivanwine14 put together in my favorite meta post here—he's not taken along on hunts, which were very social activities, and has no idea how to behave in them. How to hunt something like a boar. Not from lack of wanting, but from lack of opportunity (hence jumping on the opportunity with Henry). I discuss a lot of this in my Hans analysis triptych, but especially in the segment on his relationship with agency (and lack thereof).
Over and over again, Hanush is a great guardian, but a terrible parent.
If we want to make this worse, we can also consider the fact that he was not told that the second half of the Raborsch gathering was meant to be a celebration for his own engagement. In fact, Hanush insists that Godwin not tell him because he himself wants to tell Hans (and bless his heart, the player has the option to make Godwin try to tell him anyway).
And then Hanush very much does not tell Hans himself, not the way his words implied he would. He announces it to a whole hall of people so there's social pressure weighing down on Hans in that moment to prevent him from contesting the news.
Alexa, play "It's My Party" by Lesley Gore.
Of course, no post discussing Hanush would be complete without referring everyone to @koolcatses' brilliant posts here and here, which point out (quite accurately) what a capable guardian he is. And he is! Very much so. Hans will almost certainly be well-prepared for his life as a lord by the time he sues for his inheritance. But all of this has come at the cost of self-love and -acceptance, with insecurity, doubt, and profound self-hatred instead governing most of his character.
No wonder he constantly lets Henry make decisions. No wonder he clings to him like a life raft in the middle of the ocean. No wonder he grapples with feeling unworthy of him. No wonder Henry, who cares about Hans honestly and openly, means the world to Hans. No wonder he was desperate for Henry's company back at the start of Next to Godliness, and then desperately wished for his presence during his panic attack at Raborsch. Henry forgives him for all of his faults, as per the first romance scene. Henry forthrightly tells him that he cares about him, to his face, as per the romance scene at the end of the Italian Job.
I really hope that Henry at some point shares with him that Hanush does celebrate and praise Hans out of earshot on occasion, if only behind closed doors. And I really hope that one of these days, Hans will get to be included in a celebration dedicated to him, one he knew about and consented to.

Hans canonically being a fuckboy and then falling in love with a squire so deeply he couldn’t even form words around it and had to use Arthurian Legend as a metaphor… Henry made a ho into a housewife…
"Teach me, eh?" Hans climbed over him, leveraging his weight to press Henry's body further into the ground and planting his lips against Henry's brow as he spoke. He traveled lower, a loving assault that ended just below his chin.

The fact you can beat Hans at archery with Marksmanship level 4 is very easily explained if you remember he chose to go to combat practice with Bernard that day of his own volition knowing he’d run into Henry. Like. There are many very plausible reasons why he wasn’t shooting well that day. They aren’t heterosexual reasons, but they’re reasons.
Actually, the funniest thing that Warhorse could do is make it so that in the opening of KCD3, Hans and Henry have a hunting trip and they get ambushed like the beginning of KCD2, but if you chose to make Hansry canon, they have an afternoon delight right before the ambush and you get the post coital buff for the first fight of the game, so that the optimal way to play the game at least at the start is to get the Gay Sex Buff.
he promised not to run next time and kept the promise lets all die right now “the last time i ran i away i lost everything” and this time he didntokalrightbye
