Yuzuru on the many ways to save a jump, sometimes itās just ridiculously epic XD
otonal step sequence is honestly god tier cause heās so fast and smooth on the ice that it looks like the video is sped up, but like, itās not??? heās just that good and itās crazy how deep his edges are with that kind of speed
Today on: Things Nobody Asked Me About
Can you imagine a figure skating competition being narrated like a football match?? Like?
āAnd it started!!! We open with a double axel and--OH IT'S UNDER ROTATED!! That will have to hurt their coach!!ā
āHere we go folks!! They will try a quad! Here it comes... AND THEY LAND IT!!! OH MY GOD THEY LANDED THE FIRST QUAD OF THE COMPETITION!!!ā
āThis step sequence is so beautiful, it was choreographed by- [procedes to tell the life story of the choreographer]ā.
āWeāre entering the final leg of the routine, the last jump is a triple axel, here they come, they're gonna go for it and--THEY FELL!! OH NO!! The skater is looking disheartened, hopefully they can bounce back.ā
āThey lost to the Russians but who doesn't?ā

'Send me your favorite figure skating program' you said, my mind: bLANk. lol
I think... Alexandra Trusova's R&J free program. She looks so badass skating to that music, the cuts are soooo so nice, love the dress- okay I just love her in general (wanted her to stay at AoP tbh). Also Shoma's Turandot- omg, OMG. HAVE YOU SEEN HIM?
ahhh sashaās r&j program is so powerful. i remember her catapulting from 12th in the sp to third overall in the free skate with this program. i do wish we got to see more clean versions of the program though.
shoma skating to turandot at the olympicsā¦i literally cannot forget it because of how insane the second half was. two quads and a 3A+3F in the second half. and the way the program kept building and building until the climax. definitely one of my favs
Hana ni Nare August 2017 vs NHK Trophy 2012 Ex
It changes a little, but Yuzuās still young and beautifulĀ ā¤ļø
(x)
how gorgeous are yuzu's spins. tremendous speed, no travels, just him and the music.
(sidenote: look at the beautiful marks he left on the ice)
okay so my figure skating dream is that one day yulia lipnitskaya comes back to the game as a coach and beats eteri. now that would be simply iconic
if you ever want to introduce figure skating to someone and youāre explaining what a step sequence isā¦show them this video. the deep edges, the twizzles, that perfectly timed delayed axel, the hydroblade, the way everything follows the music, the sheer power and graceā¦i have no words
yuzuru + super slam titlesĀ
11/7/2021 Dreams on Ice 2021 (day 3) Interview with Yuzuru Hanyu after the show
Translation post 36
Original language: Japanese
Translatorās note: Based on the special edition aired by TBS Ch2, on August 29, 2021, Ā This is not a word-for-word translation. I paraphrased some of the things said in the broadcast to clarify the main point.
- On joining Dreams on Ice for the first time after 6years
Hanyu: It made me feel pretty nervous, but after all, I have practiced hard for this, and I think that despite the nervousness, I could show the performance I had wanted to show⦠or that I could put my feelings that I had wanted to put into it, not just driven by the emotions, but while paying attention to my posture or the nuances conveyed by the tip of my fingers, and as a result, I could present something good as figure skating performances as well. So, regarding my performances, Dreams on Ice this time made me feel, like, āI am happy that I made it!ā
- On dreams to realize in this season
Hanyu: I definitely want to land the quad axel successfully, of course. After all, I think the power of will is so strong, and it is something unique to human beings. Aside from tackling something driven by our instinct, we can also take many other things into consideration, calculate, and make a detailed plan for it. I believe there is something that can be achieved only by human beings that behave in such a way. Well, I think common sense would see it as a difficult feat, but I will work hard for it every day to say confidently, āI made it because I am what I am,ā someday in the end.
- In your training and life at the moment, what quad axel means to you?
Hanyu: Umm⦠Genuinely, without exaggeration, I feel it is my motivation in life. For me, figure skating is, after having been doing it for a long time up until now, it is⦠I donāt really like to call it āa part of my lifeā⦠Umm⦠It is something I have taken every step in my life together, and all the while, I have been feeling a sense of gratitude towards my skating shoes, costumes, and the ice as well. I believe because you have something like that and have a goal to achieve in it, you can make efforts for the things that exist in the background of it. I think it applies to not just me but probably everyone. (Looks at the camera operator) For the person operating the camera now, the camera is the motivation in life, I suppose. (with a Ā mischievous smile) I think it is fortunate to have something like that supporting you in life. Lately, I am thinking that I would be happy if my performances or things that I do can contribute, even for a bit, to creating a chance for someone to realize their motivation in life or the meaning of life.
āI miss Javiās skating. He always managed to bring such a beautiful joy to the iceā
do you ever feel unaccomplished and then you watch yuzuruās world record breaking 4CC 2020 ballade no. 1 short program and now you feel even more unaccomplished
take a look at yuzuās quad lutz. that outside edge, the speed, the height, the distance and that landing ā¦heās unbelievable
that time yuzu skated to seimei with a literal rap song playing in the background šš
WHITE LEGEND + HANA NI NARE
Such a beautiful and breathtaking performance. He proved to be better every time he puts his blades on the ice. Yuzuru is truly special.
