âAt least one of us can see perfectly well in the dark,â the vampire muttered under his breath, bow drawn at the ready as he crept quietly along through the cave with the other behind him.Â
During the course of their venture through the dim cavern, he and his companion had already been beset by a small group of aggressive trolls, a furious bear awoken from its slumber, and bloody skeevers at every turn. The reason for his coming here? Well, heâd received word from one of his clansmen in Castle Volkihar that there was a precious vampiric artifact in this very cave he had every intention of acquiring for himself, and heâd so happened to arrive the same time the other adventurer had.Â
âWhat made you decide to come here?â he asked.
"Believe me, I can hear just as well as you can probably see." HĂĄnta muttered under his breath, his sword drawn as he carefully stepped inches behind his unlikely partner.
As coincidence would have it, the young mer had been sent by the Dawnguard to retrieve an item believed to be of great value to the monsters they seeked to rid the land of. Unfortunately for the Bosmer, he hadn't travelled nearly quick enough to beat any other roaming treasure hunter to his quarry and much to his dismay, the other would happen to be one of the spawn he would seek to destroy, in light of the difficulties getting into the cave though, perhaps they could forgo their fight until after they'd reached their prize.
"None of your business filth!" HĂĄnta spat back.
//I miss rp'ing... So I'm kind of back?
//Sorry for not getting drafts out today to those who I owe replies to
I want to _____ you.
reblog and see what your followers say
Interesting..
IâVE LITERALLY HAVE NEVER DONE ANYTHING TO YOU PEOPLE
I was just reblogging for the above post I didnât think Iâd get any
I wonât get any but I donât know if thatâs a good thing or a bad thing
I dunno if reblogging this was a good idea but fuck it.
Eh, worth a shot, dunno if Iâll get anything.
If I ever miss a reply...
Itâs because one of the following happened:
I fell asleep.
Iâm blind as a bat and didnât see it.
Iâm thinking on how to reply.
It will never be because:
I donât like you.
Iâm ignoring you.
Iâm not interested.
Sometimes I just need a reminder. Drop by my ask and say, âHey did you get my reply?â simple as that.
I love interacting you all and I HATE missing any replies no matter how small or big.
As the book was taken, the mage withdrew, not wanting to let her hand linger any closer to his than necessary. She held his gaze easily, calmly. Eye contact was polite, after all, and she found it also had a way of making people uncomfortable if they were lying.
That was always useful.
"I am not interested in the payment." She didnât want to take anything that was his, didnât want to feel obligated to be nice to him, to see him again. Taking money, or gifts, always came with silent ties.
She couldnât let herself be tied again.
There was a moment in which she paused, where her facial features softened and the hard edge that kept him at bay slowly vanished.
"I am sure the coin is important to you, after all."
She'd stung him again, this time it felt more painful as it had become abundantly apparent how deliberate her words had been.
"Fi, I want you to take something. For your research if not for me." Choking back tears, he bowed his head as he spoke, not wanting to breakdown emotionally before her. "I wouldn't ask anything of you for it." Hesitantly he went on. "And if you wish it, you will never have to see me again after the book is returned to you."
His hands gripped the book that much tighter as his words echoed around the chamber, the silence that followed seemed to last almost an eternity as he waited for her reply. In his mind he was almost completely sure that the next words from her mouth would wound him deeper.
"Typical. How is this your eternal torment? A large being that is usually spoken of with fear and dread is speaking to you without violent intent, and you find this to be agony on your behalf. Hmph."
"I've seen enough of what dragons can do and the death they leave in their wake to know that I'm either dead, or this is a really bizarre hallucination... Which is crazy since I haven't eaten or drank anything strange recently."

The cold of Skyrim only seemed to make the sting that more poignant. âEasy there!â HĂ nta yelped. Turning to see who had spanked him, it was somewhat of a surprise that it was the barmaid.
"Normally Iâd reserve that sort of thing for the bedroom." He winked giving her a cheeky smile.

"You are right, it is the least you can do.â And the chill in her words rivaled the northern winds of Skyrim. Then, she turned away from him.
She didnât like stealing, but if it meant sheâd get her book then she supposed the could condone it this one time. There was no threat issued, no promise of harm if he didnât follow through, she didnât even make him promise that heâd actually keep his word because some part of her still trusted him. He was still Hanta, or, he had the face of the mer she once cared for and that was enough.
silent steps carried her away from the trap and towards the far wall where a few nondescript shelves sat. There was a moment as she ran her fingers along the old and abandoned volumes before she drew a very normal looking book from the shelf.
Looking it over, she flipped through the pages before turning back to him. Holding the book out, she moved around the alter and closed the distance between them.
"Here. This is what you are looking for. The other is simply a decoy, rather cleaver really." The chill in her voice was gone, replaced by her usual tone and tempo.
The bite in her words practically churned his stomach instantly, a dagger to the heart would probably have been a gentler feeling. With a wince, the Bosmer bottled the pain up before he could show any more emotion, breathing heavily as his eyes followed her steps across the room toward the bookshelf.
It took a moment for him to notice that she was offering the book willingly, going along with what must have been a shot in the dark of a plan in the first place. But, he didn't want to fail her. He couldn't. Maybe it was too late for him to rekindle the relationship they'd once had, but if he could at least convince her that he was still a friend, for that he was at least hopeful.
"Thank you." Reaching out he held onto the book a moment before completely taking it from her. "If you're interested." Smirking, he held her gaze for a moment. "I could certainly spare some of the reward that my employer has offered me."
"I'm your present."
When Medawin opened the door to her rented room for the inn, she spotted the almost naked Bosmer on the bed in not a long time at all.
"Wow. All rightâŠ"
She closed the door swiftly after realizing the situation. She did manage to understand that this could have been a misunderstanding, since she hadnât seen the mer before, but she was amused.
"I do enjoy the view, but were you uh⊠Expecting somebody else?â
Only now did she realize she was probably supposed to look away, and turned her eyes to the floor, blushing.

Medawinâs cheeks glowed with soft red, but she coudnât help but snicker a little, smiling all the while.
"Oh I got my share of that pleasure", she noted with a giggle. She looked around the room. "But right, and if not that, I donât know what I would shake without looking, now.â
She put down her hand, and looked to the floor a little to HĂ ntaâs side. âWould you um⊠Do you have your clothes somewhere around in here? I guess you would probably be more comfortable with something else on but that ribbon. Itâs a nice ribbon though, nothing wrong with that.â
She made just a brief little glance at him, her lips twitching into a smirk.
A little surprised by her remark, he let out a short laugh, his cheeks turning almost as red as a rose.
"Unfortunately." After a quick glance around the room, he turned his attention back to her. "I didn't bring my clothes in with me. Which I'm sure will lead you to ask where exactly I got changed, but I think I'll keep that a secret lest I get thrown out of the inn without my armour."
Stopping briefly, HĂ nta grinned at the opportunity to make the situation all the more awkward, if it were at all possible. "If you'd like, I could let you keep this ribbon if you like it so much."
The mers eyes rolled towards the sky, comparing her to someone who hate mer as a whole made no sense either. This one was lost. She was vaguely surprised, why did he care about how she felt about him? Guilt entered with that thought. "I.. you donât⊠have to follow it.. but you donât even seem interested and I donât understand."
Cautiously, HĂ nta approached her, stopping a few feet from her before setting his pack down and taking a seat near her.
"It's not that I don't find it interesting." Sighing, he searched for the right words to explain his beliefs. "I was born in Anvil. I grew up in Anvil. For the majority of my life I've only ever really dealt with Altmer and the races of men. And when I have met other Bosmer, well, they've never really judged me as harshly as you did tonight for my families beliefs."
[OPEN STARTER]
Zenolia listened to his voice, taking in the way he spoke. It was clear and precise, as he seemed to chose his words wisely. She took in a breath, taking in everything she could of him. She could almost picture him in her mind. He could fight, but he was not dangerous - not to her anyway. âIll-folk?â She echoed finally, pursing her lips once more. There were ill-folk everywhere, it was just a matter of picking them out of the crowd.Â
Zen quirked an eyebrow. He was definitely being very careful with his word choice - perhaps afraid that someone would overhear. âYou are a mercenary, yes?â She already knew the answer though, and that often freaked people out. She pressed her lips together, humming in thought. She let the edges of her awareness spread as far as they could, picking up on different thoughts and feelings from other people. It was hard to differentiate all the noise.
Bowing her head, Zenolia spoke once more. âMy apologies, but there seem to be a lot of people in Solitude today. Everything is cloudy, and Iâm afraid I donât know many people who want to keep thingsâŠÂ peaceful.â She mimicked his tone. âHowever, seeing as I have nothing better to do, I would not mind helping you find your⊠uhâŠÂ target.â She could not think of a better word to use, but whispered it - even if she was sure there was no one near by.Â
"Yes, I guess you could call me a mercenary." Smiling he laughed to himself a moment. "Although, I prefer to call myself a soldier of fortune." The statement seemed to echo in his mind, guilt seeped into his thoughts, interrupting his speech. Quickly he repressed the thoughts before they could manifest into anything more than a brief feeling, he didn't want to delay any further by finding an inn and drowning himself in wine.
Turning up toward the city, he took in the splendour. "Perhaps you can still help me then." A faint-hearted smile pulled at his lips as he turned his attention back to the half elf. "After all, you know this city far better than I do and it would seem I may need a guide."
Solitude was unfamiliar place, while he'd visited a few times, he'd never really made it past the Winking Skeever, his business there always being brief. "Maybe you would like an escort back through the city as well?"
