I didn’t save a psd for that one so I tried to recreate it and hope it looks similar. You’ll have to adjust some layers depending on the scene.

writing blind characters: some common considerations
Hey if you’re gonna write Daredevil fic or any fic about a blind character really please do some basic goddamn research. Here is a helpful list of starting links and considerations! You don’t even have to type words into google!!
Note: This isn’t aimed at anybody in particular. There are things the comics, the show, or fic, get write and other things they get wrong and they’re not all the same so this is just a generalized list of the most common areas where misconceptions seem to happen. This can also be generalized and used for any other blind character in the 2010s in North America.
Phones and computers While someone who is blind might use the voice-to-text feature like Ok google or Siri for convenience sake, the primary way of interacting with a smartphone is by using a screenreader. They come built in to iPhone and Android products and have for like, the last ten years (Android was a little slower on the uptake, whatever). You touch the screen, it reads out what is under your finger. If you double-tap it, it activates it. You type by sliding your finger across the keyboard and lifting it up when you’re on the letter you want. All of this is applicable to tablets as well. Windows and Mac computers! also using screenreaders! Mac’s in built in, windows has a built in one but it’s shitty. There’s an expensive option for Windows and a by-donation option, both of which work well. There’s even a screenreader for Linux, though it works better on certain distros than others. You do your navigating with the keyboard (and no, you don’t need a special braille one) unless you suspect there’s something on the screen that can only be accessed by the mouse, but using the mouse isn’t super responsive and it’s not intuitive for people who have been using computers for a while. Apparently Macbooks have a track pad that we should all bow down and praise, I have no clue. Note that if you have any goddamn respect for your own privacy and not irritating other people, your phone will not blare out incoming text messages. Call display in Android has been fucking broken for actual years but as far as i know it does work in iPhone.
Here are a couple demo videos, but there’s plenty more out there. Talkback for Android https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJSWYLZD8EI JAWS for Windows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_ATY9gimOM (this guy has key echo turned on and I don’t know how he hasn’t thrown his computer out the window yet)
Braille displays and braille printers So the biggest fucking mystery about Daredevil is how he could afford a braille display as a starving lawyer haunted by student debt, but sure ok we’ll go with it. There are a variety of braille displays out there! You can hook them up to your phone or computer via bluetooth or usb, and it will display the contents of the screen line by line on the display. Most displays will also let you input text and commands in braille. Note that as of this writing, you need to have a screenreader running on your computer/phone to use a braille display. I’m not sure what display Matt uses in the show, but here’s the wikipedia article in case you want to learn more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Refreshable_braille_display
As for braille printing, yet again, I’m just going to tell myself he managed to find one cheap second hand or paid for it with a small business grant or something. And while ymmv in terms of how much hard copy braille material you want to use, chances are it’s not going to be a lot. Braille paper is extra thick and braille is bigger than print, so documents that might only be one print page could be two or three braille pages. One of the Harry Potter books was ten volumes. I think my high school biology textbook was twenty volumes. It came in three massive cardboard boxes. I have no idea how big my university textbooks would have been, or if they even exist, because i did all of that with ebooks or scanned versions. So I guess what I’m saying is yes, there can absolutely be times when preference or necessity means somebody’s using actual braille printed on an actual braille printer, but chances are pretty low it’s going to be all the time or even often.
Mobility! As a friend of mine once said, Matthew stop abandoning your canes everywhere, that’s forty bucks down the drain every time and also not really subtle. Not a lot here besides like, the normal term for it is cane. White cane if you need to differentiate it from a walking cane (though fuck it they can be whatever colour you want). Stick if you don’t know what you’re talking about or your a blind person trying to like… use ironic humour or something i don’t know; some people have done it. As for guide dogs? They do not just appear magically from the friendly guide dog fairy. you cannot give them as a gift. They do not know where the shopping mall is or what bus to get on or when to cross the street. Getting a dog is a long, complex, and careful process that requires a big time and effort commitment. There are a variety of different guide dog schools out there, but if they’re promising to ship you a fully trained dog if you just send your credit card information kthx you’re in for an unfortunate surprise. Finally, a dog is not leveling up from a cane. They are two different mobility aids, both with different pros and cons. You don’t graduate from cane to dog. If you want you can switch from one to the other, which can depend on lots of things like the environment you live in, the sorts of things you do, your own health, your family and other pets, etc.
Anyway ok I’m done and if you have questions, fuck it, my ask box is open
- helpful sites i’ve discovered on my journey to coding !
(✿◠‿◠) hey there pals, i wanted to share a few sites i’ve come across within the past couple of days that have helped me with coding. coding is still something i’m learning but with the help of these websites, it’s slowly becoming easier to do / understand.
coveloping - has a bunch of generators for things like border-radius, shape, etc and provides you the code and you just have to pluf it into your code and adjust it.
w3schools - pretty much my go to for everything coding, provides codes, and tutorials.
remove.bg - i use this to make .pngs for themes, i like it because it smooths the corners of the .png and gives it a very clean edge.
whatismyscreenresolution - this site lets you see your theme and coding on different screen resolutions.
toptal - i use this site to get different patterns for my themes and inspo.
codyhouse.co devices - this section of the site gives you codes for different devices incase you wanna have your theme inside of a device, i haven’t figured out how to do so but figured it might be useful for someone else.
codyhouse.co components - this site offers alot of different coding for different stuff, i just have it to play around with.
code pen - this site offers a lot of tutorials for coding that may be useful to some.
15 best web safe fonts - this article is great when not knowing what fonts to use.
postimage - i use this to upload and get codes for ,png images / sidebar images.
octomoosey theme tutorial - this tutorial is really what helped me get familiar with coding tumblr themes and what not, it’s great for people starting out.
html & css code samples - this is pretty helpful.
icon finder - offers a bunch of icons in svg form, png form and other forms. they have a paid section, but the free section is pretty great.
honeybee icon font by suiomi - my favorite when it comes to adding icons to themes.
css clip-path maker - something i found recently for making shapes, it also gives you the code.
Remove Tumblr’s redirects
Basically @staff were pissing me off, so I decided to post this simple script I wrote to fix redirect errors that will hopefully piss them off too :^)
Make the external links on your blog go from this: http://t.umblr.com/redirect?z=http://example.com&t=blahblahsomelongstringofstuffhere to this: http://example.com simply by copying and pasting this following code into your HTML:

Remove Tumblr Redirects Bookmarklet
For ease of accessing links right from the comfort of your own dashboard/blog :)
How to use:
Select all of the below code and drag it into your Bookmarks Bar javascript:(function(){var browserURL = window.location.href; if(browserURL.indexOf('t.umblr.com/redirect')>-1){ window.location.href = decodeURIComponent(browserURL.split('?z=')[1].split('&t=')[0]);} var elements = document.querySelectorAll('a[href*="t.umblr.com/redirect"]');Array.prototype.forEach.call(elements, function(el, i){ var originalURL = elements[i].getAttribute("href").split("?z=")[1].split("&t=")[0]; var replaceURL = decodeURIComponent(originalURL); elements[i].setAttribute("href",replaceURL); }); })();
Rename the bookmark to whatever you like (do not change the URL)
When you encounter a failed redirect, just press the bookmarklet! Or you could also press it before you click on any links, the redirect will be removed automagically :)

tropes to avoid when writing physically disabled characters - for able bodied muns (including neurodivergent muns).
please note these are just a few ones i see around a LOT on the few blogs there are for disabled characters (and there should be more disabled characters, please bring us more!). please note i have stuck to topics i feel comfortable speaking on due to my chronic fatigue syndrome / use of mobility aids, if i have missed out something you think is important it is because i did not want to speak over people with more experience, and therefore more knowledge, on that topic than i, so feel free to add on with your own suggestions (but please refrain from doing so if you are able-bodied unless you are very well educated).
- always remember that you, as someone who is not physically disabled, cannot fully understand what it is like for physically disabled people, which means if someone who IS spots something iffy about your portrayal, sit down and listen to them.
- don’t make your character self-hating / depressed solely because they are disabled, UNLESS they have only recently become disabled after previously being able-bodied and are battling internalized ableism, but don’t overdo it.
- do not refer to your character or their disability as a burden or nuisance.
- do not use the c slur in any form, including cr*ppling. just don’t do it. ever. (though you shouldn’t in general if you are not physically disabled)
- don’t only bring up your characters physical disability in angst threads.
- if your character is canonically disabled, do not downplay or erase it, even if other forms of media they were in did (e.g, peeta mellark writers who don’t write him as an amputee simply because the movies erased it).
- please note even if you are neuro-divergent or suffer from mental illness in general, you are by no means exempt from being ableist towards physically disabled people (and vice versa!), keep this in mind and do not use this to justify anything ableist within your portrayal that is pointed out to you.
- don’t just throw in a disability for ‘inclusivity points’ and only mention it when convenient, do your research on the disability your character has, whether they are a canon or oc, don’t just rely on information about the disability given to you by canon material.
- speaking of, don’t shy away from mentioning your characters disability! if they use aids and you’re writing your character doing something, don’t be afraid to mention their aids! if they have a prosthetic, don’t be afraid to mention those either!
- if your character is a wheelchair / general mobility aid user, don’t automatically assume your muse would decorate their aids, put real thought into it, as some people just don’t want too, and if they have, put real thought into why they have. our mobility aids are often seen as akin to limbs for us, and decorating a mobility aid is something that is very personal (but there’s nothing wrong with your character just wanting it to look pretty! just make sure it fits with the character).
but most importantly, if you are not physically disabled, do not speak over physically disabled people. listen to muns who ARE physically disabled if they want to talk to you about something to do with your portrayal, don’t be afraid to ask us for help if you need it, just PLEASE DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH FIRST, we are not your own personal encyclopedias, do research and if you cannot find what you are looking for, THEN ask. it is tiring to constantly be asked questions that can be answered with a simple google search.
Small Roleplaying Tips For RPers With Anxiety
Over my past years roleplaying I’ve put together a list of small things I occasionally need to remind myself of for whenever The Anxiety™ comes to town. Hope it can help y’all out as well!
This is not an expectation: Nobody expects anything from you, and you don’t owe anyone 1 thing. You are here for YOU and nobody else, anyone who says otherwise needs to be cut from your life bcos u don’t need that. snip snip.
Who said you had to be the best?: I find myself often trying to just be the BEST because I think it will stop me from being anxious, but it really just makes it worse. Focusing on only being the “best” takes the focus away from the fun of it.
You can’t please everyone: This goes for more than just roleplaying, but there is such a component in anxiety that makes this extremely difficult to accept. Take a deep breath and just say it until you hear it. It’s okay, people will get mad at you, you will have bad interactions; such is life.
Icons/Promos/Art/Themes do not equal quality: I used to think I would never be quality until I had all those things, but really, it’s in the writing and interaction. I can list endless blogs that have beautiful graphics and resource, but the writing? I’ll pass.
Find your community: Probably one of the most important things I’ve learned. Surround yourself with bad people and you will have a bad time. Find the right people? Buddy I promise you’ll be having a ball.
Other people’s perception of you does not define you: Another really important thing I’ve learned. Every single person you meet will see you differently than the last, and it will always never be how you actually are. These people only see a screen and words, how can you expect them to see everything you are?
Everything is okay: And that’s it. Everything is fine. Your brain might be running itself all up but when it comes to the facts- you’re okay.
hiya friends, let’s talk about rp burnout, because it’s a real thing and at some point i think we all experience it. ⸺ rp burnout. aka you’re tired of this place, this culture, some of the people, the way things are treated, the drama, everything really, but ( like so many of us ) you don’t necessarily want to give up and give in and stop writing because you love it. so what do you do? well lo and behold, friends, i am not an expert. but i do have some advice that i’ve found to work,
step away. it doesn’t necessarily have to be a formal “hiatus” but if you’re not here, and you’re not writing or you don’t find yourself wanting to be here, don’t be here. you don’t owe anyone replies. you don’t owe anyone anything. you owe yourself everything.
go hang out outside for a little while listen to music or a podcast and go for a walk / run.
do some of those chores around the house that you’ve been neglecting, cease the endless dash scrolling and the obsessive ‘i need to keep up with every trend and bit of news’
step back. step away. take a breather.
reconnect with what you love about your muse or rp in general. you like making blogs? make a blog, you don’t have to promo it or write on it or anything, if you just like the process of setting something up, have a space for you to do that.
be selective with your replies and your threads. is there something you like writing right now? write it. fuck the whole system. write what you want with who you want.
stop stressing about appearances and the whole ‘is what i’m doing going to irritate someone’ because you know what? it shouldn’t matter and it doesn’t matter if susie from susieland doesn’t like that you’re writing this or posting too much on the dash. it has literally zero impact on susie’s life. susie can unfollow.
this. is. a. website. it has zero power over you. it doesn’t have to have power over you. do not give it the power over you.
it’s super easy to be addicted to tumblr, believe me, i know, cuz i am. but once you take some time to ground yourself in things that you actually enjoy, and that make you feel good about yourself and the world around you, you can get back to a place where you can actually enjoy being here.
do the things that you enjoy ! because you enjoy them ! because that’s what you’re here for ! that’s what you deserve !
this is a hobby. remember that this is supposed to be a hobby.
⸺ and if you have things that you’ve found to work that you want to add, please add !
a few REMINDERS for all of the roleplayers out there!!
Signs of a Toxic RP Partner
This is hardly ever talked about, but I’ve seen a lot of these types of rpers in my history of being in many different fandoms. Back then, I never even recognized that an rp partner was harmful to me until I was already hurt by them. Now that I’m older, and hopefully wiser, I wanted to share some classic signs, based on my own experiences, of a toxic rper.
They are very stubborn and unwilling to compromise. I saw this a lot in group rps. They treat rp partners as tools, not human beings. Everyone else’s thoughts opinions or ideas do not matter. They may try to forcibly take control of the group by paying for premium membership or helping keep the chat online. Then they use this to justify their massive micromanaging of everything and everyone. They spark conflicts whenever things don’t go their way, stopping any thread in it’s tracks.
They are always accusing people of something. Someone may try to devalue someone else’s worth in a group dynamic by accusing them of being a “self insert”, “mary sue”, or “god mod”. However, the irony lies in that these people themselves are usually what they accuse others of. I’ve had someone accuse me of self inserting, when they literally rped as their self insert in the thread. This is a sign that someone is a huge hypocrite, which is always a bad thing.
When they’re in the wrong, they don’t apologise. This shows little humility and self responsibility, meaning they won’t listen to criticism, ever. One the toxic rpers I met would never apologize, she would only tell me that it was “a good start that I recognized I was the problem.” This is manipulative af, because it changes the social context of the conversation from “let’s solve the problem” to “let’s look at your problems”. It was by far the most cunning way someone has made me question my own validity and worth as a human being.
They isolate people from you when they have an issue with them. Abusers do this. They will try to keep anyone from being in contact with their victim, so nobody can help them out of the relationship. If you have an unusually possessive rp partner, you need to set some boundaries and get away from them. Trust me, if someone is actively trying to prevent you from contacting others, they’re not looking after your best interests. Run, run very fast and very far away.
They don’t show you empathy or consideration. This can be ruthlessly asking for pictures of you or to meet you in real life. As long as they show you zero understanding, it falls in this category. One rper I knew was mad I wasn’t online every second of every day. When I told them my life was getting busy, they said they flat out didn’t care and they wanted me there anyway. I never hit a delete contact button so fast in my life. If they don’t try to understand that you are a person with a life, they aren’t worth your energy to worry about.
They may abuse through rp. This isn’t a surefire sign, because anyone can research how an abuser acts to depict it in a thread for any purpose. However, I have seen many rpers abuse and even try to rape other characters in a thread using their character. Usually, they’ll excuse it by saying it’s the characters motives not theirs, but some OOC conflict typically causes it.
hey, if you’ve ever wanted to learn how to make a gif but doing it traditionally in photoshop is too hard, you should look at this.
gifcam is an app designed to make making gifs easy. all you have to do to record a gif is size the window and hit record. it has a built in editor and it saves with low filesizes and many options.
the best thing about the whole deal is that its completely free. yeah. thats right. you wont pay for anything and you’ll never have to
you can download gifcam here, and if you want, you could reblog to spread the word about this awesome software
I have been given unreasonable power
i am too powerful now
I need this.
GIFCAM IS 100% SAFE AND FUN TO USE! IT’S A FANTASTIC TIME SAVER, TOO!
hello, could you please explain to me how to put your animation textures on another gif? i tried to google it and follow some tutorials but i didn't work out. thank you if you do x
Hi anon! So after you have your anime/series/cartoon/etc gif converted to a smart object, open any of my overlays in a new file. It’ll look like this:
Then go to the little menu thingy near the bottom right and click on that then click Covert to Video Timeline. After doing that, go to the Layers panel and make those a Smart Object
Add any of your color adjustments if needed and group the adjustment with the smart object overlay (this can be done later if you want). Now to get the overlay to your gif, go to Layer > Duplicate Layer > and select the Photoshop file you have your gif in.
The overlay should now be on your gif where you can resize it and position it with the transform tools accordingly. Remember, your gif should already be a smart object before you transport the overlay onto it, not a frame animation. Hope that helped!
Coloring Tutorial #2
I’ve gotten asks to do another coloring tutorial, so because I love you all, here is a small, simple one I threw together. You don’t need/have to follow all of these steps, or even in the order it’s in (mess around see what you like). Hopefully this helps, so here ya go:
