I don’t know. I’m just—Who knows.
[ Who knows! She deepens the kiss, slightly, pressing her palm to his cheek. ]
Who knows?
[Theo chuckles at that.]
Believe it or not but that actually makes sense to me.
[Jasmine deepens their kiss and he can't help but to pull her closer, one hand tangling into her hair while he tries to also lean into her hand.]
[ She grins, pulling him a little closer. ]
I’ll do my best.
Good, good. [He doesn't want to ask. Really he doesn't. But there's a mild case of curiosity brewing.] Why, exactly, did you say hello like that? Not that I mind. I just want to know how to keep it in my life. [Right before he's kissing her all over again.]
"That's the best way to say hello. The absolute best. Really. Don't ever stop."
Typewriter Series #735 by Tyler Knott Gregson
As long as there are dragons involved, I’m sold.
There could be. [Settling back into bed and doing his best to hold back a yawn.] Once upon a time there was a prince. He was next in line to the crown and felt the weight of the kingdom upon his shoulders. Unsure of his ability to rule as his father had before him he sought council with a soothsayer.
That was awful. Non-fiction has never really appealed to me.
I'm sorry. [No he's not.] A real story, huh? [Slinging an arm around her.] What about a princess that saves a prince?
Tell me a story or something, I can’t sleep.
Once upon a time there was a girl who travelled through time. She was a demanding, fiery woman who would often times wake her boyfriend from a dead sleep to tell stories? [An attempt was made.]
Shit.
Is that not how it happened? Are you sure? Like a hundred percent, because I’m pretty positive.
( a hefty sigh, burying her face into the fabric of his shirt. and then, mumbled— )
How’d it end, then?
Nope. Not at all. And I'd thought that you would've liked The Mummy. Course you seem pretty exhausted. Travelling?
[Theo rubbed her shoulder and kissed the top of her head.]
They kissed. It was cute.
Don’t be silly.
( she’s got no idea. she’s not even certain those guys were characters in the film. )
In a final plot twist, it was revealed they were long lost second cousins twice removed all along. And they say good television is dead.
Clearly you and I were watching completely different movies.
[The best part was that it wasn't even a trick question.]
...Tha' does sound like an interesting twist though.
Did not.
( she leans up, pressing a gentle kiss to his jaw. )
I totally saw the whole thing.
Oh yeah?
[Humming quietly, he's doing his best not to laugh.]
Did O'Connell and Evie end up together?
( casually uses his shoulder as a pillow. )
Hey there sleepyhead.
[Gently winding an arm around her waist.]
You fell asleep during the movie.
Headcanon
Theo is chronically late to almost everything. Try as he might he's never really been able to truly be somewhere on time unless he was told the wrong time.
Okay.
[ Sighing in relief, she laces their fingers together. ]
I didn’t live in a—Oh my god. It was a phone box from the 60’s—maybe a little bit earlier, I’m not a hundred percent sure. Bigger on the inside. It’s pretty cool, I’ll show you one day, probably.
Looks like we’re hanging out for a bit though.
We could look around. Or we could find somewhere nice to sit until you’re feeling better. Your choice.
Well I don't know! That movie is literally the only basis I have for something that up until about ten minutes ago I had thought was not true.
[Theo looked a little pale as he said it, choosing to lean against the wall entirely. He was quiet for a moment until he gently tugged her over.] A phone box? That sounds...crowded. But...bigger...on the inside? [There's slow nodding at that.] I can't wait to see it.
Um...Yeah. Looking around future Spain. I...I can do that. [Like it was something that happened every day.] So...You mentioned that your whole family can do this?
[ Another nervous laugh. ]
I’ve been travelling since—Forever, really. Since I was a kid. I mean, I sort of lived in a time travel machine. My parents are time travellers so it sort of runs in the family, I suppose.
Sorry for—Springing it on you like this. I didn’t really know how else to do it. Because I didn’t really want to keep it a secret any longer because—Yeah.
We can go home if you’d like.
You're okay.
[And she was. Mostly cause it hadn't taken him long to pick up on how important this was as a thing. Did it make it any less weird? Not really. But it did make her brave. At least in his eyes. So he nodded along and gave her hand a squeeze.]
There are time travel machines? You lived in a Delorean?
[Because really that was the only image of time travel he had.]
Don't...Apologise for that, Jasmine. I...you explained the only way you knew how. Also I think if we go home now I'll throw up everything I've eaten this month.
Spain. A few years from now—Then. Whatever.
It’s—Time Travel, see? Told you. Totally told you. You weren’t really believing it, but hey, look where we are.
[ She’s not very good at explaining the whole thing, which he’s probably already noticed. But that doesn’t matter, why explain when you can just show? It’s much easier, using a visual example. ]
So—Uh. Headaches are pretty normal, some people throw up. Travel outside a capsule, rarely fun, unless you’re used to it.
I see.
[And he did. Oh did he see. He had to hold out a hand to brace himself against the wall, though he did make it a point to reach out for her hand as well. Theo nodded slowly so as not to upset his head or stomach any more than they already were. He wasn't a fanciful man--not really. But he also knew when the burden of proof was right in front of him.]
We travelled in time. YOU travel in time. HOW long have you travelled in--Nevermind you answered that. I...
[The look on his face definitely screams overwhelmed. Overwhelmed but not freaked out.]
