It hit its goal and it’s surpassing it. Kickstarter had to Tweet about it because it kept crashing their site with traffic. For 14 years SEGA told Yu Suzuki that there weren’t enough people who wanted Shenmue III for them to warrant green-lighting its development; for 14 years Shenmue fans waited for an end to this series that left on a painful cliffhanger in 2001. For 14 years SEGA sat its ass on this franchise, pretending that it was a “failure” because the Dreamcast didn’t have the userbase to support the astronomical numbers they expected out of it. And, finally, here we are. My only regret is that SEGA will probably still see money out of this when they don’t deserve a Goddamned penny for making us wait this long and giving us shitty Sonic game after shitty Sonic game like any of us ever wanted them.
